I really like this draft - think it will be my team after hours of thinkering. Darwin and Foden my differentials, both in rotation risk but also potential for big hauls. Maybe ill change my 4,5 midfielder to Anderson or Makamba. I like the flexibility as Darwin/Foden/Mitoma can be replaced easily with players from similar bracket (Watkins, Nkunku/Madison, Szuboslai, Diaby etc.)
    Looks like this:
    Onana
    Estupinian, TTA, Gabriel
    Saka, Fernandes, Mitoma, Foden
    Darwin, Jesus, Haaland
    Subs: Areola, Baldock, Bell, Amahada
    Thoughts?

Looks outstanding if we trust Darwin to fight off two of Jota, Diaz, and Gakpo for consistent starts.

Yea, that is a gamble with Darwin. But he s got 4 goals and 1 assist in 135 mins in pre-season, and a xGi of 14,81 (and 14 goal involments) in only 1690 mins last season. Scored 15 goals for Benfica in his first season, and 34 in the second. Huge potential and only 10% ownership.
Plus Gakpo has been playing twice as a number 8 in pre-seaon, could give him more minutes.

I think Darwin starts alongside Diaz and Salah . . but he won't play 90 minutes. Probably ever.

Is Jackson the better pick than Nkunku? I believe Nkunku will get more minutes than him and given he is an unknown quantity, and more importantly isn't guaranteed starts, better Nkunku?

Also is it better to leave both out and go for Darwizzy?

Yeah, I am leaning towards him. Chelsea's opening 2 fixtures aren't great though but he has shown he is so prolific and could be gold this season. If Chelsea click well in attack and get in Caicedo, I believe he could be top 2 scorer with Haaland. He is a goal machine and Poch's pressing will get him 4 to 6 goals just from easy tap ins due to opponent defenders mistakes.

Should we read anything into the fact that James and Chilwell haven't been on the pitch at the same time in these preseason games?

I was just thinking that but I don't think he has ever played his first XI. He seems to be doing a 50/50 split every pre season game to date IMO.

Could just be it's preseason and they are playing in hot conditions, so he doesn't want to push or tire the players too much bombing forward and back.

After playing with lineups for a week, I think I like starting 11 in a 4-5-1 the best:

    Allison
    TAA Saliba Stones Dalot (Cash)
    Saka Rashford Odegaard Maddison MacAll
    Haaland (Mubama, Archer)

Thoughts? The main thing seems like I likely have to commit to the 4-5-1 before a wild card. I like the 5 powerful middies to have the potential to rack up big weeks, and the risk is mitigated by players who are proven. Dalot is hunting a season long differential.

Liverpool fan? Allison and TAA look too expensive imo. We need more info on where Mac will play, Dalot is not nailed and you will be in trouble with no-shows and that bench.

I deffo am a Trent and Al fan, and with Mac I just liked the price after doing other drafts.

So I’ll revise with Mac and Dalot out to start with. I assumed no-shows was less of a factor to start the season.

Villa paid over 50M pounds for Diaby. Looks like a brilliant signing with raw pace and a very good left foot. Given they were lacking a good player on the right hand side last season, with Bailey being inconsistent, this may be just the right one for their counter attacking game. Expecting Watkins/Diaby combo on many counters.

You’ve also got Eze, Diaby, MGW at 6.0 etc - one or more are bound to be on form at any point in the season.
So handy to be able to jump on and off

Not sure there is a ‘best’, just personal preference really.

      I’m 3-5-2 but with cheap forwards (Pedro & 4.5)

Why? You've got Pedro who is completely unproven at this level, Jackson who is in a totally unpredictable chelsea side who has a few goals for villareal plus salah who in preseason has already looked like he's playing less centrally, versus Nunez going into second season, Nkunku one of the most prolific scorers in europe, plus mitoma.

B, Pedro and Jackson are complete wildcards - definitely both watchlist potential though.
