Son is a trap. I fell for it at the start of last season, and I'm still not over it.

He was injured all season, did you read the article? He's better and if Kane leaves, well, could be gold.

Conte was an idiot for playing him through that then. Regardless, unless I see marked improvement, I'm avoiding, seems far too risky.

Good point re Conte. This is not exactly a glowing reference for the Spurs medical staff and management.

If you read further you’d see that it also says his underlying stats weren’t different and he has previously massively overachieved compared to his stats.

i would argue that Kane leaving would potentially make Son less appealing. A lot of his goals tend to be from Kane dropping deep and Son running in behind

Couldn't disagree more. For 9.0 he could easily achieve that value if he's fit all year. He's a lethal finisher when he's on song. Also its the first time Spurs are gonna have a gung ho attacking manager for a while.

I fell for it last season as well, but that doesn't mean he's a trap again this year. I don't have him at the moment, but if he's anything like back to normal form he will be great value.

Probably TAA. Jesus can't hit a barn door half the time, Martinelli I feel will see fewer minutes than TAA 'cause of CL.

    Is Elijah Adebayo nailed ?

I'm trying to decide between a 4.5m defender rotation (Tark/Villa D), or a three-way rotation (Tark/Baldock/Adebayo) for my final starting sport, the latter would strengthen the beach which currently has two 4.5m attackers on it)

That’s not stopped you picking all the top-scorers from last season (ignoring the daft inclusion of Mbappe) though because you’re massively influenced by what happened last season.

With exception to those players because they are class. That’s why I picked them.

I think it’s fair to consider the fact that every season can’t be the same, wouldn’t surprise me if a Michu/Vardy tops the chart

Exactly - class players are called so because they are consistently brilliant, hence why taking previous seasons into account is a thing.

You might get one-offs like the Michu situation but everyone already knows who the best and worst teams/players will be before a ball’s been kicked.

Nice article. Son has been in my draft since the start but he is the one I am mentally wavering over, as a downgrade to a 6.5 would afford TAA. Annoying me a little, as I really want to pick him but fear I will fold to TAA pressure.

As an arsenal fan, C. Odegaard may be playing deeper this season but he is clearly the best player of the three. Odegaard will have more minutes than Jesus and Martinelli and because he is so involved in our play he is a bonus magnet.

But i rate watkins more than nkunku so watkins and martinelli is a good idea too.

I have havertz, martinelli, and nkunku for what its worth. Tried hard to stretch to Ode.

I'm leaning C at the moment. Love Martinelli but if you have the 0.5 spare maybe Øde will be better initially since Arsenal's left flank is going through more of a transition. C & B substantially better than A imo

I'm not sure, if you get a couple decent cbs in then it will completely transform the defence. I think I'd have him in for the attacking out put, can see him taking a few set-pieces this year.

Wouldn’t go as far to say a sleeper pick, but is Joao Pedro for Brighton a good option?
Record transfer. His competition is Welbeck and Ferguson. Europe is a risk. Thoughts?

    1. Ask Yourself
      • 9 Years

I really really really want him to be nailed but with their depth and being in Europe this year it’ll be tough for him to hold down a place although he can also play at CAM and LM and has the potential to be on pens.

If he gets close to 90 in their last pre season game I may gamble on him

    2. x.jim.x
      • 11 Years

Worth a gamble as it stands - can easily be downgraded to a 4.5 or upgraded to Wissa if it doesn’t work out.

        • 13 Years

By no means a sleeper. I think we're all considering him, but most worry there are just too many superb options in that Brighton attack.

    3. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 4 months ago

Initially I was set on Mitoma and wasn't wavering, but with Adingra coming in and looking like an able threat to his minutes, I think I'm looking at all Brighton assets in the same manner now: all good options in a side that scores goals but all going to be rotated regularly. I think once you can accept that, it's down to how big of a threat you think they could be in limited minutes on the pitch and then taking into account pricing. At 5.5 and possibly on penalties, I definitely think Pedro is worth a shot

The weird thing is, if I get Joao Pedro, I'll have 3m itb. Not enough for Salah, but any other player would be in reach. However, there is no other player more expensive than the ones I've got who I'd want!

    4. Zimo
      • 7 Years

The new extra time minute rules and Brighton being the biggest xG creators even over City makes me wanna take a gamble on him for just 5.5. He's a better value pick than Foden who everyone seems to want even with minutes risk.

Just did my first draft. Please let me know your thoughts:

    Flekken
    Gabriel Mings Botman
    Salah Rashford Saka Foden
    Haaland Jesus Pedro (or Cunha/Edouard)

    Strakosha Nakamba Beyer Bell

I know that there is some weakness in the defence, but prefer a strong midfield instead.

Cash or even Konsa could be a more reliable route into the Villa defence, beyond gw1 the fixtures are pretty decent and they were tight last season under Emery.

I'm also looking at the goalkeeper for my side, Emiliano Martínez could be a strong option if you can find 5m.

Is there a particular reason why Pickford is so popular in the 4.5m bracket? I've seen some suggesting Dyche has improved Everton defensively but he hasn't, they were actually arguably (albeit marginally) worse than under Lampard.

    - Dyche: 32.3xGc in 18 games, 29 conceded
    - Lampard: 33.4xGc in 20 games, 28 conceded

2nd bottom for xGc in the league last year as well, and they've also now lost both Coady and Mina

Think it's the lack of another 4.5 standing out yet and Everton's fixtures not being too terrible to start.

I think Leno and Johnstone both better options at 4.5, although I do think Everton will be better as Dyche will have had all pre-season to work on them defensively

Is Johnstone first choice? If so, he would be the standout 4.5 for me. Not sure on Leno, think Fulham will struggle.

            Johnstone looks nailed on.

But Palace do have some tougher fixtures defensively, there's 6 in the first 10 where you'd think they concede on first looks.

It’s the fixtures isn’t it? Lots of green initially. I don’t think it goes beyond that.

That's my assumption. I've felt from day one he's an awful template pick.

I've got Ellis tucked away in the 4.5m slot. No dramas there.

Good save%, good first 8 fixtures (esp. if a NFO 4.0 keeper emerges in time for gws 2+5), and nailed, which this season has become a valid consideration when picking a 4.5 keeper.

In past 4 seasons, lowest score is 114 and highest is 124. I'm willing to accept that consistency of returns and seek my selection thrills elsewhere.

Lots just jumped on him early on and it's stuck.

He did end the season well enough and is a decent keeper but they can easily enough concede 1 in any game.

Just because Dyche has had a pre-season I don't think that means he's moulded them into a Burnley team for shut outs.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I'm happy that plenty are selecting him.

Tbf, there's 3 or 4 home games in the first 8 where they could keep it goalless. But that might be all in the first 16 games.

Yeah, they always come through but there's one league where no-one seems to know who the admin is but it comes on-line later on.

About a third of mine are currently showing.

There's a renew leagues button for any admins.

so Ramsdale's days are numbered then?. And I thought Arteta loved him. I suppose he's not really sweeper keeper material though and that seems to be a deal breaker these days for the top coaches.

Thoughts on a Baldock, Bell and Beyer rotation in a 3-4-3? I just playing one of them each GW enables a top drawer remainder of the team… Triple Arsenal attack, Triple United, Double City and Double Chelsea.

Bet365 have with a £500k prize pool with 47k entrants yesterday (free this year) plus buy-in options to other cash prizes.

Warp Prouse is an England international, a free kick specialist and West ham think 25m- in today's market- is too much? Lol. heard some worrying stuff going on behind the scenes at hammers. sounds like a complete mess. just banked 105m and yet to sign anyone

He’s as much an “England international” as James Milner, is extremely average outside of setpieces, on £100k a week and currently plays for a Championship side. Can see why they would be hesitant to pay more than that.
