This was my initial GW1 draft, made 29 days ago when 'Sun Jihai' pointed out that Simms' price would eventually be locked after transfer out of EPL.
Pinnock rotates with Botman and of course Leno auto-subs Ortega.

    Ortega (Leno)
    TAA Estupinan Botman (Pinnock Beyer)
    Rashfordâ“‹ Saka Odegaard Martinelli Mbeumo
    Haaland© Alvarez (Simms)

All six of my ManC and Arsenal players got over 60 minutes in the Community Shield.

    Q. Is this team worthy now that we have the benefit of pre-season results?

Ortega blocks you from getting in any other Man City player if they hit the ground running. I’d just get Rodak and Leno personally.

Thanks. For historical reasons I'm not interested in more than two ManC outfielders - even Alvarez is a punt, but I completely understand your point.

OK maybe I drop Ortega and Alvarez in case I want a ManC mid at short notice. TAA will probably exit as well to get a 5-5.5m defender.

In case you were wondering, the optimal set and forget goalkeeper combo from last season was Ortega (Raya)

Only other consideration I'd probably go with would be Odegaard if I get him which is still a possibility. It is City after all but I'm still a tad wary of them heading to a newly-promoted side on opening day. But Burnley like to attack so probably foolish to consider someone else

Do you remember last season's narrative?
      Haaland unbalances City
Haaland was not able for the English game
      Kane a better choice

But I do agree with you partly in that Haaland is far better at home than away.

It was just one of his classic no-touch games, where he eventually goes on to score a double. But he was subbed early with a lot of reserve, so I wouldn’t worry.

I like your thinking. Trossard has been knocking on that door for months. Class player that looks dangerous even after coming on for 30 minutes, so I wouldn’t even worry if he’s becnhed.

This is it for me. 🙂

    Ederson
    Shaw - Gabriel - Estupinan
    Rashford - Saka - Martinelli - Maddison - Eze
    Haaland - Pedro

    Areola - Darwin - Baldock - Kabore

    0.5m in the bank.

    GW 2 - Save
GW 3 - Darwin + Estupinan âž¡ Nkunku/Jackson + James/Chilwell (Getting the correct Chelsea after 2 seeing 2 gws and in the process having Liverpool attack for BOU in gw 2 in Darwin)
GW 4 - Shaw âž¡ James/Chilwell (Maximising Chelsea for their great run and binning Shaw for United’s poor defensive fixtures)
    GW 5 - save
GW 6 - Maddison + Pedro âž¡ Wilson + Nakamba (catching the Newcastle fixture swing)
    GW 7 - Save
GW 8 - Martinelli + Gabriel âž¡ Trippier + Richarlison (punts before WC)
    GW 9 - WC

This way I cover all the fixtures runs and even the plum fixtures in between for a few individual players without taking any hits.

Hope the pressers are kind. 😀

Timber basically does exactly what Zinchenko does, except that he’s right footed and a defensive beast.
While White maintains his surprising status of Arsenal’s most attacking defender with progressive runs and crosses. I don’t think a left footed player will start as a left back for Arsenal in the near future.

White looked good in the highlights. Too expensive for me but may be too good for Arteta to bench even when Zinchenko returns to the left.

White is an interesting one, you wouldn’t imagine him doing what he does on the pitch, but his calmness and adaptability make him a conservative but offensive right back.

I wonder if Arteta will ever try to play both Timber and Zinchenko, as they’re both inverted types, in that case, I can see Timber adapting to a more attacking role, but for now White will keep that spot.

    Pickford

    Estupinan - Gabriel - Pinnock

    Diaby - Saka - Fernandes - Salah - Maddison

    Jackson - Haaland

    Areola - Archer - Baldock - Kabore

Any thoughts? I'm fairly happy with it; only thought is perhaps downgrading a midfielder to either upgrade the bench, get Onana>Pickford, or get a premium defender.

i don't play it, but go on to Whoscored and look at match reports from last season in the LaLiga section, it will give you a quick visualization of players starting positions etc, then click on whatever player interests you name to find out more about them, how many starts they had, strengths, weaknesses etc, also Transfermarket will give you a deeper breakdown of each players stats but its more time consuming to use

Maddison played better than Son today who deferred to him on corners and Maddison played furthest forward alongKane so I would save 1.5 m to improve elsewhere

Just get Rashford then. I have got him and Bruno with the Wolves Nottingham Forest home games in first 3 then move to Son/Maddison

Boiled down to two final decisions:

    TAA, Martinelli or Watkins?

    Saliba or Gabriel?

Martinelli if no other Arsenal mid, otherwise Trent.

      Gabriel for me

Barnes a good option? Sure looked good today.
    Odegaard instead of Saka?

Barnes an excellent choice from GW5, Saka for me.

Good option but there are safer mids at the same price with better fixtures now.

      Saka.

Not until fixtures improve but definitely someone to then consider

    Martinelli or Odegaard?

Martinelli had last season a better minutes-points ratio but he will be subbed early more often with Trossard, Havertz, Nketiah. Odegaard on the other hand may play a bit more deep this season perhaps? Most lads here still on Martinelli?

Ode was more advanced than I imagined today, I’d still say he’s gonna score a lot this season. I’d opt for him over Marti

Saka, Martinelli, Ode, Trossard. This is the order for me.

Ødegaard for security of minutes and I was surprised how far forward he got today
