I thought he would be. But based on a lot of comments from Villa fans and Emerys line ups he is not.

He has been playing 3 CBs and one full back, so having a lopsided back 4 (like Newcastle, Arsenal and City at times last year). So far it's been Cash in the team, but when Moreno is fit it could mean the attacking player switches from right to left.

I think he starts v Newcastle and I actually quite like him until Moreno is back, but he isn't nailed.

Emery has used Konsa/Chambers at right-back in pre-season, as well as Cash.

Well he guaranteed to concede at SJP, so that's one game closer to Moreno returning 😀

I reckon it could be quite an open game, can see both sides scoring.

To add to the other cMoments villa are reportedly interested in Gonzalo Montiel ( Sevilla’s RB) which only adds further doubt about Cash game time longer term. Like the others say reckon he is fairly safe for the first few games so a good pick of you are planning an early WC

With Nkunku out for a couple months, I’m trying to think who will play CAM for Chelsea. I’m thinking it could be 4.5m Chukwuemeka but it’s a gamble.

I think I’ve ruled Nunez out now but yeah, that team looks like it has goals in it, also looks like the starting team v Chelsea.

If Salah goes big tonight it’s going to be hard not to start with him & go from there, the other way means hits or a WC.

Personally, I think Jota is a Klopp favourite. And he produced elite xG when he was often a sub 2 seasons ago. However, he was a midfielder, as a striker I'm not sure you can rely on that. He always seems to be rotated and subbed off early, I don't think his body/fitness is trusted.

I hope this message will meet at least one of the more popular FPL content creators:

You guys have single handedly ruined the game. It's because of you and the likes of you everyone ends up with the same team. These templates we see everywhere is on you, and no one else. You create FOMO, you create shifts in ownership, you create unnecessary buzz around a player because of a one good pre season game. You made the game impossible for everyone because everyone has the same team.

Thank you for ruining a great game.

Not strictly true. There’s players that years gone by would be massive differentials that everyone has because they watched a YouTube reel. That said it’s perfectly possible to make a very good draft with players that are 20% owned or less

        1. TheTinman
          • 10 Years
          2 years, 8 months ago

But would we have picked them without Scout?

I know I wouldn't have started with players like Lundstram.

So who are we to judge now it's more mainstream?

We were no more clever back then when we had group think for 50'000 people than we are having group think for 2m people.

I've written that horrendously but I do think I have a point.

The fact is they aren’t using it though, what they’re doing is watching videos on YouTube or reading tweets from people who have done that or even worse watching videos or reading tweets from people who have watched videos or read tweets themselves. The skill bar is vastly diminished as a result to the point that actually looking at the stats yourself is no longer worth it because you’ll identify someone and see it plastered all over the next day.

Which is a lot harder to do when they’re calling out all the would be differentials and forming a template that is undeniably good. It’s not as simple as just going anti template. It’s a template for a reason. It’s no coincidence that it’s become harder and harder to break into the top 10k in recent seasons.

It's an interesting discussion. I had a bad season and was cursing them all, I'm kind of over it now. Quite like the added challenge. There will always be mistakes in their teams

Yes, I liked the Luke/Pras Man City you tube last night, trying to predict the Man City lineup, and the way they do it.

It going to be needed for Liverpool and Arsenal now, but i think we are still safe with United 🙂

        I like Blackbox as well

Not so keen on the My latest draft type of content creators, as i do think similarly to them, but fpl wire and black box can really give you good ideas, you may never think of , but does scramble the mind a little.

Blackbox is more of a chat show. They don't take themselves too seriously and aren't afraid to present a massive argument for a player then go against because of their gut feeling. Az is actually a real one and Mark is the OG.

      It's not necessary true tho.

I think last season only 35 players scored over 140 points.

So you can see how the pool is limited to about 40-50 players out of 550 or so regardless of social media opinions.

There's probably the same 20-25 recycled over and over but that's also to do with budget and fixtures.

How do content creators create more of a template than an echo chamber like FFS or reddit? I'm not a big fan of fpl creators in general but you can't blame them for jumping on the bandwagon.

Exactly lol It's clearly a joke or they're just trying to provoke a reaction. Either way we can only play what's in front of us. Can you imagine being a real PL manager and complaining that the teams being promoted from the championship were getting better and more professional??!! Or a maths professor complaining about how when he was a student that there were no calculators and they had to work stuff out manually?! Times change and we just need to keep up. If you're able of course...

True, seems like they all do same content ,drafts etc, still up to us who we pick though
Lot of players are template likes of Haaland , Jesus, Bruno rash saka salah Trent etc because there the players we want, not because others have them, their the obvious picks an we don’t need to be told.
They give advice, opinions, like we all do on here, that’s all it is, opinions on who they think will decide well, not facts like get player A, captain him, as he will get a brace this gw
Play fpl your own way, own decisions, then there’s no one that blame!

      Heres an interesting idea :

Dies the additional injury timr minutes now being added, up to 10 minutes, mean Salah / Kane close the gap on Haaland ?

Both likely to get between 95 and 100 minutes, Haaland might be getting 60 to 80 minutes.

I think with Haaland is that he could get a brace in the time he plays while others will struggle to even get on the scoresheet. It’s not more to do with them but rather their teams.

But I do like your hypothesis and it will be interesting to keep a note on this.

        Quite possibly.

Especially if Haaland doesn't get a shot on target in 65 mins + 3 like yesterday!

Definitely makes Salah/Kane more viable captain alternatives in the right fixtures...

But, Liv basically a new team, and Kane transfer issues make it more difficult

Talked myself into changing draft to get option of Salah for 100 mins vs BOU

That 30 to 50% more expected minutes could really make a difference...

Especially for players with records of scoring late on and on pens...

Best 3rd Striker option out of Wissa or Jackson in a 3-4-3

Other two are Kane and Haaland

      Any ideas would be welcomed

So it is Kane + Jota/Gakpo v Salah + Maddison for me.

If that's the choice it has to be Salah. The two Liverpool boys will rotate. So it's no good. Maddison will be reliable.

Think you have me confused with someone else. I have never said I am going nowhere near Pool. Salah has been in my side from the start.

"Darwin and Diaz owners in the mud. No way I am risking it. Not even tempted with Gakpo or Jota, even if they are starting todays game. Rotation/reduced minutes galore."

Ok, so your original comment was wrong then and you meant other Pool that are not Salah. Plus, I haven't changed my team so still don't have them.

It’s for the Sun Dream Team. I need a cheap defender.

          Johnstone

Rotating with a Brentford defender perhaps as need be, or a Villa 4.5m?

So with every game lasting 100 odd minutes, you can have a sub who plays 40 mins, Trossard, Jota and Alvarez anyone?

That's what I'm thinking. Makes those kind of players more viable.

Depends if managers decide to leave subs for later than 60 mins now.

Explosive players off the bench, like the ones you've named or potentially Darwin, Foden and Wilson might be good against more tired legs.

Yeah this is what I was thinking. 70mins might become the new 60mins (so the defenders who come off around then actually become stronger CS candidates?)
