    Saka Odegaard Martinelli Rashford Mitoma
    Haaland Watkins

    Areola Baldock Beyer Archer

The treble Arsenal midfield nice not seen many drafts with those the beauty of it is you can move off the player that is not in form gw4 ish.

Thanks, yeah that's true, I think you have to sacrifice too much for Salah. Imo TAA not worth the 8m the way Pool defence has been, I could be wrong. Other assets are a bit of wait and see to got a better idea on their preferred starters Jota/Darwin/Diaz/Gakpo etc

I think I am too risk averse in FPL. Looking at the draft in the article with an ultra-cheap bench and Foden and Darwin in the first XI not being guaranteed starters makes me nervous.

How often do you think those 2 will sit out an entire game on the bench? Stronger subs won't solve the cameo problem. I'm not going for either of them though

      1. MJF
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 8 months ago

Yeah fair point but I also don't want 15 mins from one or both in a week, which is entirely possible. If both start regularly they're great picks of course, but I'd also worry about getting a full 90 out of them which with all this proposed added time might be a boon for those who play 'til the final whistle.

I reckon Gakpo starts on Sunday FWIW, but what do I know!

Yeah its much worse than just staying on the bench, that's why I wont pick them. Although I am considering Jota tbf...
          I agree I expect Salah/Gakpo/Jota V CHE

    Chilwell, Estup, Cash
    Salah, Fernandes, Saka, Eze, Kulu
    Haaland, Wissa

Feel like Kulu could come alive again this season under the new manager. Looked good in PS - 2 assists yesterday. Could be steal at 7m and a cheaper alternative to Kane?

Turner to Nottingham Forest and Raya to Arsenal will be official this week. 2 happy players, 3 happy clubs.

I think it's fair to say that both of them could become interesting FPL options at some point in the season.

Reckon Ramsdale’s done? Can’t see either of them happy to just play cups and doubt Raya wouldn’t be moving without being promised the #1…

      1. Arteta
        • 10 Years
        2 years, 8 months ago

I suppose we could see a similar story as we did in 2021. Leno began the season as the first choice but was eventually replaced by Ramsdale, who exceeded expectations. I expect Aaron to be number one in August, and David will be given some time to settle in and get to know his new teammates and system. After September, if Arsenal don't keep any clean sheets in their first four or five games, we could obviously see a change between the sticks.

Arteta on if Ramsdale’s been feeling pressure due to transfer speculation (https://www.arsenal.com/news/every-word-mikels-post-man-city-presser-1): "I hope not, because the competition here always exists whoever it is and that's what he has to feel like. If we don't feel like this, we are not going to get the best out of each player, so we better feel like this and make sure that we all feel like this, me first."

Raya talked about competition (https://twitter.com/i/status/1687210320362905600), and his mentality is exactly what you want from a player. He (soon to be 28) will help Ramsdale (25) grow and improve, and in the meantime, bring more stability and confidence to the backline. In the case of injury, we don't have to worry.

The manager wanted him three years ago, and now they are taking advantage of the opportunity to bring him to the club. In May, I thought that Raya would sign for Chelsea, City, United, or Spurs. So I'm simply delighted with this signing.

I'm thinking of punting on it.

But other than saving a transfer there's little points upside and plenty of risk to it.

Mind, I've just put Turner in so maybe it's covered if he joins and starts for Forest?!

Personally I wouldn't but the manager likes him . I think Turner would be more than enough to cover and evolve into a really good GK .
But that's my opinion only stating there is still a possibility of Hendo coming which means Turner won't be no1 hopefully it won't happen and we spend the money else where or stop spending .

Guess I'll play the safer route with a future transfer.

    Ederson (Ortega)
Chilwell / Gabriel / Estupinan (Kaboré / Beyer)
    Salah / Bruno F / Saka / Mitoma / Mbeumo
    Haaland / Joao Pedro (Mubama)

Landed on this for now. 0.5 ITB and it's maximum Pep-roulette proof with Ortega on the bench

Only issue starting with choosing Ortega is that it blocks you out of picking a 3rd City player easily if someone like Foden or KDB start fast

I'm honestly fine with that. I'm just staying clear of all players threatened by Pep roulette. Foden scoring a brace in each of week 1 and 2 doesn't make him any less of a rotation risk and there are always other options, especially at that price point

What are people doing with Foden? It is the last spot on my team that I have a real doubt over. He looked decent when he came on v Arsenal. If he starts he could really rip it up?

I have my Brighton quota used up and I don't really like Mbeumbo as a pick.
My choice at the moment instead of Foden is Diaby - because he starts looks like he could get goals- also rotates well with Palace (Eze)

And now Maddison/Richarlison is starting to come into my thinking.

The back of my mind with Foden even if he is benched - with this new 'added' - injury time thing, Foden basically got nearer a full half of football minutes wise yesterday.
And the damage Foden could do v tired legs could be cruel against weaker sides.

Sorry 7, counter Shaw, but I have Onana instead, had Shaw until the transfer.

Not had my finger on the FPL pulse over the past few weeks as my wife has just had a baby girl - can anyone shed any light on why TAA seemed to be in everyone's drafts a few weeks ago but has now disappeared?

Overpriced(so teams look better without) and Pool seems to struggle at the back. So 8m for poor chances of a CS is not that good of a deal.

Liverpool cleansheets in doubt so £8.0m probably not good value based on attack returns alone compared to the £8.0m mids/fwds.

Man forget FPL enjoy the time with you child and wife.

As for TAA, Pool don’t look like keeping CS. Neither TAA looks like scoring or assisting many.

I have never had more FPL time available then when trying to get my kids off to sleep when new born. Enjoy the time with your little one, and also make the most of the extra awake-time when you only have brain capacity for football!

People copped on you could get a better balanced squad without him. It took a few weeks for it to filter down to the sheep.

As for the baby girl - you can now enter another FPL team under her name - win-win!

I am going for Wissa. JP is good for 3 weeks only and if you have too many Bri assets, it's like -4 to start with.

With 10 mins of injury time being added to each match there will be less clean sheets.

TAA was never good value at 8m. Now he really, really isn't.

The flipside is that players that tend to play full games and have attacking threat have more potential to return, as do players that tend to get subbed on a lot

Thoughts on a Haaland + Salah + Kane draft:

    Pickford
    Pau Botman Gabriel Estu
    Saka Eze Salah
    Kane Haaland Pedro

    (crap on the bench)
