I had my concerns about him being up to pace for the start of the season. Thought he was great. Still some work to do to get the chemistry with some around him on the right, but he's quality.

      1. TheTinman
        • 11 Years

Same. He showed flashes of class and flashes of being off the pace in pre season. But today he looked superb. I thought he was a bit close to Bruno a few times, picking up the same positions, but that chemistry will come

Yeah, he drifts into the centre a bit, rather than the Longstaff channel further right. Will come with playing together more. Plus he'll help unlock defences when teams come to park the bus.

Funny how games can change ; and people's opinions with it . . .Villa were a good 50/50 with Mings and an organized backline . . they utterly fell apart when he departed. Very worrying for Emery because clearly they'll have to change a lot to compensate . . .he's not daft like Arteta and just swap a name on the team sheet.

Lol, have JPedro and Watkins. I do have the funds ITB to potentially do JPedro to Isak, but Man City away isn't enticing. My son who was more bullish on Isak bottled it as well as he wanted Salah. I

I'm happy and relieved that Newcastle beat Villa. I never have FPL regrets with Newcastle players when they do well.

They literally just bid £111m on a single player after already spending £80m on midfielders?

They just got a windfall from Saudi Arabia ; plus I suspect the sudden bid for Caicedo means they may have sorted out their investment.

So you’re saying that FSG actually WILL spend that money? Because that just tried and got pied.

I’m assuming if they’ve got their investment lined up they may. That was the point of getting investors; because they can’t or won’t compete with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

You're contradicting yourself. Liverpool fans believed the club had set aside the money to sign Bellingham this summer - that's the line FSG fed them as an excuse for neglecting the midfield.

Game’s been dead since Mourinho spent the equivalent of about £500m in a single window 20 years ago, this is nothing new

It’s nowhere near as bad really, especially when you look at the guff they’re spaffing their money on. About £1b spent in 3 windows and not a single world class player?

When clubs who play according to rules can't buy even their second option because other clubs stockpile it does leave a sour taste in the mouth. They can have caicedo. They worked hard on that one. Taking lavia too. And the leeds lad as well if liverpool weren't involved. Disgusting. How much has this new ownership spent in a year on how many players. They won't stop now either. It's like f1 but every one else sticks to Cost cap and one team get unlimited funds just cause. Game over.

But the league doesn’t count it that way. It will be 5 years whether Chelsea like it or not.

Chelsea don't care mate. That's the point. You can tell someone to he a law abiding citizen all you want but if you won't enforce the rules with proper punishment then people don't care. My country just released 9000 prisoners before time for overcrowding. Guess what will happen next. Chelsea mate. Chelsea in a national level

Its five years. If they violate that they’ve not got a leg to stand on. End of. Why they sold so many players as well.

So the 9 year contact is not spreading money to bypass the 5 year rule? It's just for the hell of it then.

They're paying £90M up front on this one, not spreading it over decades like previous deals. That's why Brighton are so keen as Liverpool can't raise instacash. But how that goes down with the PL FFP, I don't know.

They're not even finished. I know they'll spend big on another striker, but I thought Sanchez would take the gloves when Kepa goes. Nope - they're looking at Schmeichel and Meslier!
