I am pretty sure the same people that say ''Imagine playing Turner and not Onana'' would gladly bench Shaw to Cash/Henry etc if they had him. Turner was a sound choice given SHU numbers and Man Utd's last week's performance. Unlucky, on to the next matches, good luck!

Outfield players, especially ones like Salah are different because their ceiling is realistically much higher, there’s penalties etc too.

        Keepers have a low ceiling

I’m just saying that sometimes we overthink things; me included BTW, I’m not trying to make out I’ve not been guilty of it. I remember not captaining Haaland last season during his massive haul Vs Utd (3 G, 2A) coz I thought “playing Utd. Hard game. Captain somewhere else”. Actually it might be the GW I captained crappy Havertz Vs Norwich I’m that 7-0 game where he blanked 🙁

Situations are completely different because you expect different things from Salah and Onana. And it is not that City at Etihad is an impenetrable wall for Salah.

Playing Turner felt like one of those weird mass hallucinations that sometimes happen on here. Like triple captaining Wood or having Neto last season.

I'm calm. Just looking ahead to see how many of my 3 BHA players I need to shift before their games v NEW & MUN. Next 2 look alright, then LIV & MCI before a run of 4 decent games. Just 4, possibly 5, matches in the next 12 will be difficult.

I'd pick a form attacker with a high FDR game over an attacking player in average form in a low FDR game. Fixture Difficulty Rating gauges teams win chance but an attacker in form could still get decent attacking points in the tricky looking fixture. Like Grealish at Villa. But it's more tricky to find those players for those games.

Jayus, it doesn't say much for Sheffield.

It wont be long until people are looking at Aurier. 4.5 makes him worth a punt, at the right time. I would consider him, but yea, red cards, you know and hardly good at defending, but he is 4.5.

People missed the boat on Aurier, the time to get him was this week.

There are few times you are going to want to start him in the next few fixtures. Burnley maybe gw5 . But Burnley are a decent side. Luton gw9 and at push Palace away gw8. Then there is a nice run between gw14-18,
Those are big gaps between fixtures - you would need a very solid rotation paring in tandem

I feel the team I have is balanced (3-5-2), but for years I have moved early in the first few weeks to catch prices rises and high ownership.

    Pick, Turner
    Gabi, Etsu, Saliba, Cash, Kabore
    Saka, Salah, Rash, Rich, Mitoma
    Haaland, J Pedro, Mubama.

Players I think I want… Chilwell, Maddy & Brentford cover (Mbeumo or Wissa)

    Have 1 Ft. 0.5itb, tonight moves…

    a) do nothing!
    b) Rich for Maddy
    c) Mito for Mbuemo
    d) Pedro for Wissa
    e) Salah out and double with Maddy n Rich
    f) combo of above (-4)

There are some players in this game - I'm calling them "twitter picks" - where their ownership among the highly engaged (both fpl content creators and their followers) is far greater than in the average FPL community. These tend to get hyped up with an echo chamber effect

My sense of who these are at the moment:

    Gw1 - Joao Pedro (7) , William Saliba (5)
    Gw2 - Turner (2), Chilwell (?)

Are there any other twitter picks I haven't thought of early season?

Sometimes FOMO drives me to follow a twitter pick over a more sensible long term pick. (Like owning Joao Pedro even though I think there will be a mass exodus and price drop when rotation hits soon)

I just got Turner because he is a 4m keeper and starts, plus I knew how bad Sheffield united were after watching the Palace game.

But you are right there is a 'twitter effect' - TC Duffy or Dennis etc. Remember those years. Going for stupid options to be trendy or fantasy football 'avant garde'.
At least the Turner and Chilwell picks made sense this time around.

The problem is they all copy each other - as to do other wise would mean they ridiculed so it is rare there is any independent thinking. Use of chips at different times etc - they many pile on the same gameweek normally - negating any real advantage among that cohort.

        Have Turner too.
I think many were positively influenced to start him, myself included.

          Maybe so partly.
But his price and fixture - have a lot to do with it as well.

In the clean odds Forest should at least have kept a clean sheet. And this gameweek there were few obvious clean sheets except maybe Brighton/Villa? But both keepers are 4.5/5m

I had to laugh at the comment on who scored where they list the strenghts and weaknesses of teams. After the match for Forest it stated 'no obvious strengths'.
          https://i.imgur.com/PcJRv69.jpg
Sheffield were awful and it was only inexplicable defending from Forest that resulted in its loss.
          --

But of course in FPL for goalkeepers it is not just about clean sheets it is about shots saved. There seemed to me to little talk of which keeper would get most saves this gameweek - a far more difficult thing to call.
As it then depends on a number of other factors how good the keepers are a shot stopping.
How the teams play style means the opponent has a lot of shots on goal etc
How inaccurate the opponents forwards are.

Flekken on my bench got a CS even though it was on paper a more difficult fixture away from home

I will have to think twice rotating in gw5 and gw8

I think you’re right, but some make logical sense. Saliba/Gabriel was a toss up so both make sense, Chillwell looks like the new Marcos Alonso so makes sense.

JP is their record signing and 5.5 in a team that scores a lot, so a worthy risk but definitely can see rotation. Turner was just a 4.0 playing keeper, not sure what anyone was expecting there, worth having for the bench but that’s about it.

Absolutely there is some wisdom of the masses going on there. Which is why I own 3/4 of those players.
But I also believe these picks tend to be more volatile

Any reason not to go for these players in an early -4 (don't usually do them but don't want to miss out on rises and will have cover if someone gets injured).

Gabriel, Rashford & Mubama to Gusto, Mads & Jackson

Every reason not to go for them. You're trying to catch price rises before they've played and before you know the state of your team next Friday.

Most don't waste their time with Fantasy Football and have too much time to think.
I heard a good one for instance a woman discussing why she divorced a man.

She realised that each time she made a cup of tea, she offered him a cup. But when he made tea, he never once offered her a cup of tea. In her mind this became symbolic of the marriage.
She told the man that she would like him to offer her a cup of tea. Then he did.
But then she realised that she only did it because she told him. So that was not good enough for her.

Basically a large proportion of women want everything, independence but constant reassurance/validation . It is a real dichotomy.

The best thing a man can do is treat his woman like a double gameweek team, look for the little nuances that make it work.

From her perspective yeah, but from his perspective he was oblivious to the 'cup of tea' importance. And wondered what he did wrong.

Women forget that Men are not wired the same as them. Take two random women meeting in a waiting room - the women find out about everything about each other in that 10 minute chat - family all sorts.

Two men in the same situation would be lucky to find out what team the other fella supports and what he though of the match on the telly.

Nothing to do with 21st century quips - any psychological analysis even at the most basic level tells us that Men's and Women's brains are wired differently.

It is why that those women/men in Single Parent families struggle so much - a father figure offers a child things woman can't. Much like a woman offers a child things a man can't. It is just nature at work.
