Gameweek 4 is about to begin and Betway have joined in with a couple of Super Boost offers.

Tonight features Luton Town’s first-ever home Premier League outing and the weekend closes with Arsenal hosting Manchester United.

However, sandwiched in between are a bunch of intriguing match-ups.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK 4 SUPER BOOST?

If you’re new to the Super Boost, it’s effectively enhanced odds on cherry-picked match events.

A trio of match events, to be exact, so you’ll need all three to come in.

On Saturday, Betway are offering 2/1 odds for this treble rather than the original 5/6:

  • Erling Haaland (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Bryan Mbeumo (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Raheem Sterling (1+ Shots on Target)

Meanwhile, there’s 7/2 instead of 7/4 on offer for Sunday’s Super Boost:

  • Bukayo Saka (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Marcus Rashford (2+ Shots)
  • Bruno Fernandes (35+ Passes Attempted)

SATURDAY

The league’s deadliest forward Haaland is at home to Fulham. It pits the league leader for shots on target (seven) against the side that has conceded the most of them (27). Assuming the Norwegian starts for Manchester City, fulfilling this leg feels inevitable.

Yet Mbeumo is still the player with the highest expected goals (xG) tally. Only 0.04 of his 3.29 came in a disappointing blank at home to Crystal Palace but Bournemouth have provided joy to all opposing right-wingers so far. Jarrod Bowen, Mohamed Salah and Dejan Kulusevski scored past the Cherries, so Mbeumo will be confident of continuing that streak.

Then there’s the rejuvenated Sterling, coming off the back of two goals versus Luton. He leads the way for touches inside the box (35) and faces Nottingham Forest, last season’s worst travellers when it came to points (eight) and goals conceded (44).

SUNDAY

A trio of midfielders are the focus of Sunday’s heavyweight clash at the Emirates.

Both of Saka’s home matches have brought a pair of shots on target and he only needs one this time, whilst Rashford has recorded at least two attempts in all three matches. Still goalless, he was able to assist twice in Man United’s comeback win over Nottingham Forest.

Team-mate Fernandes finally delivered in that match, having led the way for non-penalty expected goal involvement (NPxGI) heading into Gameweek 3. He netted twice, created two big chances and completed 55 passes. All he has to do against Arsenal is complete another 35.

Did the "super boost" win last week? Just curious.

And is "1+" one or more, or more than one?

    1. Valar(Keith)
      • 16 Years

I think it's basically atleast 2 shots each on target. Tbh that looks very doable and great odds at 2/1

      1. Alan The Llama
        • 16 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

For the sake of clarity (unless I'm just being thick) should probably say either "0.5+" or "1.5+".

          • 16 Years
          2 years, 5 months ago

Yup. 1.5 is ideal. I'm just assuming it means 2 shots though. 1 shot each would just be them giving away money

Yeah, the whole shots on target market is nuanced. Blocked by a defender (not on the goal line) rarely counts either.

The reason that betting companies sponsor so many clubs is because they make huge profits.

They make these profits from individuals. For every £ of income they get, someone loses that £.

The odds are stacked in the favour of the betting company.

By puting a disclaimer logan like BeGambleAware or WhenTheFunStopsStop, they believe they can continue to exploit everyone, regardles of vulnerability oraddictive tendencies.

In many cases this leads to misery. Family breakdown. Crime. Mental Health issues.

Not for everyone but for a disproportionately high number.

Alcohol and Tobacco advertising is significantly better regulated. Change is badly nèeded where gambling is concerned. All we can do for now is ignore, boycott, protest and try to support those who need it most.

Aren't half the things this world have to offer? Not saying gambling is OK, just curious why all of a sudden it's become a thing. I always thought it was mad that you can't drink in the stands in stadiums at football and alcoholic t-shirt sponsorships were removed but literally most big competitions have an alcoholic company as the primary sponsor and the ad boards around the pitch have it flashing everywhere.

I'm just trying to see both sides of it.

I have a highly addictive personality. Like ridiculously so, but that's why I have no gambling apps on my phone. It's why I've never even tried an illegal substance, like not even a toke. I hardly drink anymore, there are two sides to every argument but people just see one side of it.

I'm the kind of person who see's the big picture, hence my self control.

I very much doubt I'm in the minority to be honest otherwise they'd be a lot more chaos. I just believe that when lives are ruined they're really ruined and a lot more noise is made that way. I have lots of friends who we joke are degenerates because they gamble most weekends but their lives aren't ruined etc. They just can't have as many pints as the rest of us at the end of the night because they're £20-£50 down over the weekend. Or they miss one night out a month because they've spent their "dinner budget" on a few punts.

Drugs aren't advertised on t-shirts and billboards and TV but there are plenty of buyers. Reducing the marketing of gambling won't make much of a difference either. People wanna snort, they'll snort, people wanna risk it for the biscuit, they'll do that too. Everything is bad for you in large quantities, even medicine and water.

True but if you know something is wrong is it ok to just say it’s not my concern? Lots of vices are ok in moderation as the majority have the self will to control. But when gambling companies specifically target these communities because they know it’s a great source of finding those who aren’t wired up like the rest of us and this is facilitated by a company that many have or had a strong connection with it leaves a certain sense of betrayal.

I'm confused as to why football fans are specifically targeted though? If there's 40,000 in a stadium how many do you actually think gamble? If there are 1,000,000 watching a game, how many do you think have a bet on it.

The minority can't control themselves and granted need help. I lack in other areas and need the support of my loved ones to control my weak points (I crumbled on here a few months ago because of my break up - that just happened again this weekend. I also collapsed and ended up in hospital this Bank Holiday Monday, and my loved ones are helping me change my diet - even though that isn't the primary cause, they want to lessen the risk by improving my health as much as possible - but does that me we need to burn down Coca-Cola and McDonalds because I excessively consume them? Hell no, I need to sort myself out).

“He wasn’t for sale” was the quote, so assuming that’s true then no price will change that

They must be a nice company because they’ve paid Robbie Keane to wear a betway polo shirt and hold a football

Ended up doing a last minute hit of Shaw to Udogie instead of just playing Saliba/Baldock.

    Was this a mistake?

I wouldn’t have done it but probably not going to cost you anymore than 4 points and could pay off immediately

Only 4 mil to spend. The other option was Baldock.

I see. On my WC i spent ~100 mil, so was easier for me to avoid the trash players i guess..

I started the season with him but did you really need a 4m def on WC in GW4?
