On this atm on WC, like how it allows me to keep Estupinan still however no 8.5 mid spot (Saka/Bruno):

    Areola
    Chilwell | Estupinan | Udogie
    Salah | Son | Maddison | Sterling | Mbuemo
    Haaland | Alvarez

    Turner | Cash | Gusto | Archer

Bit of money in the bank too.

    Thoughts?

Last 3 games v Brighton: 3 Brighton wins on aggregate 8-1. They're a funny team though, can go from flying and then lose to a team you'd expect would be beaten easily, then beat a team like Newcastle in the manner they did. But yeah, I was planning on keeping Bruno but I may actually just move him on and keep Salah a bit longer instead

Yeah Bruno seems to be repeating his thing again if having great underlying numbers but failing to return for us. I think Rashford is the one to own and Hojlund looked good.

Do you think Hojlund will affect Bruno’s output. Seemed like he liked to drop back at times taking up Bruno’s pocket of space.

You bought him in because of one week.

I’m a huge Chelsea supporter and sterling does this. Has one good game and everyone jumps on. I like him as a player but we just don’t score enough goals. Better options elsewhere

Some people bought Sterling because of how good he looked vs West Ham, even though the stats, returns and popular opinion were against it - rewarded with a haul vs Luton. Many jumped on him, including myself. Jumping off after he blanked but looked good vs Forest, right before the leaky Bournemouth... Feels a lot like deja vu

      There's a template, and I like it:

      Salah (or second 8.5+)
      Son/Arsenal/Man U
      Maddison/Foden
      Sterling/Bowen/Brighton
      Mbeumo/Diaby/Eze/JWP

I think this structure works long-term (based on current data, mind), especially with a rotating strong backline and a sub-7m forward beside Haaland

I'm using transfers to jump between options based on fixture runs, but Salah and Maddison are locked in for me at their prices

I like that. I’m almost there but still the big differential is Salah and I’d need to WC I think. Still think I might hold out, particularly as I can’t work out my best front 3 (thinking Awoniyi with H and Archer) but Salah is looking scarily like a haul is around the corner

With the new midfield signings the Arsenal attack is very spread around at the moment meaning it is pretty hard for Saka to haul without a pen, I wouldn't be thinking of selling against Everton though.

        What new signings?
Saka also missed a chance easier than a pen. Could’ve been a haul easily.

Rice and Havertz have been the more impactful signings, I agree that he could have gone better but outside of the Fulham game he has had about 0.28 xG and 0.2 xA for about 0.5 xGI per game, not bad but not amazing considering some of those fixtures. Again wouldn't be selling though

I think sometimes you have to ignore the stats based on the eye test. Everytime I have watched Saka I have been terrified.

Everyone just trying to jump on whoever is scoring most recently. He's still a very solid pick and Jesus' return should improve Arsenal's attacking output

Considering holding Saka until GW8 (Everton VC, Spurs, Bournemouth VC) here, then it's Son for the next three (Luton C, Fulham, Palace), then probably Rashford for the three after that (Fulham, Luton C, Everton VC)... And then I'll have to pick a long-term favorite X_X

He won't stay there. Bailey fit and Carlos injured means he should be back to RB. Even with a full backline fit I'd say it'll be more like last season where Moreno will be playing as the more advanced WB when he's returned, with Cash a bit more reserved

      1. Diddizz
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

100 % this. As a right-winger he is a no-brainer, but like Nate is saying it's most likely only temporarily with Bailey fit and soon also Jacob Ramsey. When Moreno is back he is the more attacking defender, if they play like last season, Cash will be a bit more reserved. They have great fixtures and he is not a bad option, but not as good as we first believed.

Would you do either of these moves?

    Mitoma to Diaby
    Jackson to Darwin?

    1. Diddizz
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

I think Brighton is great and they are so attacking and dominating possession against everyone except Man City, Arsenal and maybe Liverpool. Becouse of that Estupiñán is 1 of the 3 for the whole season for me. Mitoma have more competetion, there are many midfielders who are bringing home the points.

Chelsea was poor against West Ham, they looked toothless in attack. Sure Sterling and Jackson have speed up front, but they don't play well in combinations in the final third and they lack in vision. Jackson should have scored one goal against Nottingham, it was more or less a shocking open goal miss.

Darwin is in form now, but he have competition from Jota and Gapko.

My recommendation would be Alvarez, he gets a lot of minutes now that de Bruyne is injured, they really need his creativity. So far Foden and Alvarez have been the main architechts behind Haaland.

If you like a punt, then there is no greater then Awoniyi. He is in great form and and have a crazy goal-scoring record this season and from the end of last season.

    2. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

I'd fancy Mitoma vs Man U, Bournemouth and Villa. Diaby's next three are against arguably equal or better defences

Darwin got assists by hitting the post. Very involved, but I think he's still quite similar to Jackson on many fronts, except that Jackson has a lot less competition for starts right now. I'd at least give Jackson the Bournemouth game. I expect lots of chances vs an Iraola team in another open match

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

Ah damn, my bad! One assist was by hitting the post. The other Darwin assist was a really good flicked header. I don't think Jota and Gakpo will stay benched long-term though

I think this is good advice. Mitoma could match Diaby becouse Palace and Chelsea are pretty solid in defense. No need to change Mitoma for now.

Jackson have had a lot of chances. It's a risky change becouse he could haul soon. At least Bournemouth and maybe also home against Villa. They played with a crazy high defense line against Liverpool and Sterling and Jackson should like to counterattack with a lot of space.

If it doesn't work, Alvarez have started the season very well.

        1. Diddizz
          • 9 Years
          2 years, 3 months ago

Very easy on the eye for sure. I just love to watch Brighton play and Mitoma is one of most exiciting players to have in your team when you watch them play. Diaby have started the season in form, he got some blistering speed with the ball glued at his feet. I think he can match Watkins if you want a Villa-asset for their long run of pretty nice fixtures.

I think it's important not to take hits and point-chasing every week when the next new shining thing comes. If you watch the games and all your players looks good and are playing in good attacking teams, have patients and don't take hits.

Sure if you picked totally the wrong squad from the beginning, then you have your wildcard to save you. But be also careful when to use it, when you need it, not just for bringing in players you don't want long-term just to make money. If you don't Salah this season, money is just for upgrading an already great bench.

When you have picked Salah and Haaland, if you can make some smart money moves with players you really want short-term like Gusto and then sell for profit, that's not a bad thing.

Mitoma is class, easy on the eye and will get some goals. But Brighton have a spread of players that he has to share attacking returns with including Estupinan. Diaby isn't as good an attacking PL threat but it's early days. But likely to have a good slice of Villa's attacking pie. Not as much pie as Grealish got in his last Villa season but a nice portion.

Change of outlook. I think its time to shed Man U, something not right there and go for picks in teams scoring goals and a punt.

Watkins, Pedro & Bruno to Alvarez, Awonyi & Maddison for a -4?

    Gives me this team:

    Turner
    Estu Chilwell Udogie
    Salah Saka Maddison* Mbeumo
    Haaland Alvarez* Awonyi*

    Johnstone Anderson Gusto Kabore

    On WC
Between Darwin and Ferguson to go along with Haaland and Alverez
Took the 0.1 on Darwin tonite.
Picked the Pool because he is my only Pool player and I dont think 3 Brighton lads is wise at this time. But I do have 3 Spurs. (never thought Id say that)

Darwin seems high in confidence and a good punt imo. You have options at the price and below once the hot streak is over.

Teams without Salah will have benching headaches

If Archer continues like he did or even return semi consistently, he won’t be any less of a benching headache than Wissa, Edouard etc

He'll absolutely be a benching headache - always on your bench but popping up with goals and even possibly penalties here and there.

Yes, people who benched his 12 will be thinking about playing him now in ‘easy’ fixs.

Price won’t dictate the decision if he’s scoring semi consistently.

Very tempting but not with the chopping and changing De Zerbi will be applying in that squad.

Flavours of the week Darwin, Ferguson and Alvarez are all VERY rotation-risks. I reckon you can afford to take a chance on one of them, in the knowledge that a nailed-on Hojlund or Jesus are waiting in the wings.

Think I would go for the cheapest striker that starts and go for a 352 to concentrate where the value and form is ... in midfield, all with Haaland & Alvarez up top.

Rotation is coming and having the likes of Archer, Wissa or Edouard on your bench is pretty sold. If they score you may get some bench jam or price rises.

Also have Estupiñán, Chilwell and 3 nailed 4.5 (original price) defenders so you can forget about transfers for defenders.

Then just simply attack Luton, Burnley, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth, Everton etc. with proactive transfers, even for your 3rd striker if you want and change structure a bit for the fun of it.

In other sports when this would happen, it would give the team a chance to terminate a player not working out on a morals clause

      1. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years

They bought Antony with those charges hanging over him. Man United could have terminated Greenwood's contract, thus losing 100M in potential player value, but at least, as an academy kid, he cost them nothing. Antony and Sancho cost them about 80M each - a huge potential write-off.
On a separate note, I see Arsenal are about to get rid of Pepe for next to nothing. It's the kind of situation that Chelsea will face in coming years. Hard to feel sorry for such profligacy on the part of the clubs.

Aye, and the dog. I'd bench the defender for the Arsenal/Liverpool games, but not the mids given that their DEFENCES are midtable quality.

For my team going double Spurs attack is an issue. I want to keep Salah and Diaz for Wolves and West Ham defence. I also have Bowen and to be fair, West Ham vs City will have goals from both sides. Then he has LFC which will also likely have goals from both sides. Saka has Everton GW5 and Bournemouth in GW8.

Although I don't count out Spurs getting goals but Arsenal and LFC are not going to be easy games for Spurs. That is why I am considering getting Johnson as my Spurs attack and just riding it out then deciding what to do next for GW8. I need to get rid of Chilwell and Disasi before GW8 as well so those two are bigger issues in my team at the moment.

I am just thinking, how crazy am I by thinking of doubling up on Cash and Digne with one decent 4.5 like Botman on the bench for GW's 8 to 14? It is not like clean sheets are a thing with any team at the moment!

    Estu Cash Digne...

Luton have 3 decent fixtures 5, 6 and 7 so perhaps hold onto those 4m defenders Kabore or Bell for now. In fact, I may just keep Baldock and Bell stuck on my bench for the rest of the season with Archer.
