This season so far FPL is much more fun because there are more good teams with more good FPL picks and you can't own them all so not everyone has the same team with the same players

Been great in that aspect this year, pricing definitely needs to be higher next year though. Way too easy to get a really great team nowadays, I miss the days where you’d be relying on a Robert Snodgrass or a James Chester to get you points.. now you can comfortably build a team of almost exclusively top 6 players

Can someone explain why Newcastle's fabled "great fixture run" starts this week, against the top xG earners (both including and without pens), with this game ending 70hrs before their Champions League fixtures begin, away to Milan? Is it something that was decided in pre-season and that people have just tried to stick with? I get it from next week but no idea why defenders were being pushed as great picks for today

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

Yeah, I found that one a bit weird too. Always seen their fixture run as GW6+

Brentford is a banana skin fixture for any defence, including (or especially) the biggest guns when T. Frank rolls out the 3-5-2

Because people haven't recalibrated that Brentford are good.

I don't know about a clean sheet, but Brentford were crap last GW and overhyped here. I expect Newcastle to win

They hit the woodwork 3 times and should have scored 5 or 6 goals so I can't agree

Not 5 or 6. Maybe one more. Mbeumo missed the easiest sitter. But they could've conceded more too

Strong record against Brentford & I take stats with a pinch of salt at this stage given Brentford have had great fixtures & played against 10 men. But I see your point & it took a bit of persuading via Newcastle team news to start Trippier this week

It is quite clear that going forward owning any other attacking asset bar Salah from LFC is going to burn you. Could go for Zobo but would have been better if he was playing I'm Mo's position if he had left.

Which is why I had Salah from the start.

I had both Mo and Diaz. Diaz to Son this morning. If I had to get rid of Mo which I may consider over the next 3 GW's then probably won't go back.

The points will be spread heavily this season with copping and changing of Nunez, Diaz, Jota and Gapko.

I'm still put off Salah due to Szoboszlai and TAA affecting his role

With Nunez on the pitch last week Szoboszlai was significantly deeper and less involved, certainly from what I saw on extended highlights and pass maps. Not sure exactly how it'll be today with no TAA or Nunez but he'll likely be more attacking again. Shame as he was my main target this week but dropped it after the last game

I said before in pre-season that with Liverpool’s midfielder shortage, there is no other way but for MacAllister and Szoboszlai to be absolutely nailed.

I mean, owning Salah limits ones team too greatly no? He’s just too damn expensive. I’m banking on the two good players I could afford because of selling him. But yeah, I hope he keeps missing his chances:/

I'm planning on bringing him in in a few weeks, but it does mean that I'll need to lose Rashford and I may become more reliant on Alvarez's continued minutes.

Hopefully another Liverpool attacker puts their hand up before then and I can get away with going for them instead.

This means that there are only 4 spots for two players, where Nunez and Gakpo compete as strikers, and Diaz and Jota for the left wing. The four of them are, until one gets ‘essential’ status in that Liverpool team, not nailed for the forseeable future.

Was just checking the new FC24 ratings out of interest, and of course anomalies are inevitable.

    Antony: 4 goals, 2 assists
    L. Trossard: 8 goals, 12 assists

Both sit at 81 with Antony a little bit better due to higher overall clinching him in pace, physique and dribbling.

If you did any of the following I dont think you understand FPL:
    1) Sold Sterling before Bournemouth
    2) Benched Pickford against ARS(H)
    3) Captained Salah
    4) Benched attacking full back to play CIty defender
    5) Played Mitoma over Mbeumo

    Turner
    Saliba, Chilwell, Udogie
    Saka, Maddison, Foden, Mbuemo
    Haaland, Alvarez, Jackson

    Onana, Estu, kabore and Chukwuemeka

Not that it matters, but do you guys think these players will play? I was unsure of Foden, but Grealish is out, so Im hoping that increases the chance that he’ll play.

That's two rotation risks you have in your team...Foden and Nunez. I encourage you to go for players that are certain to start every game especially when there are so many options this year

Yea, not going to deny my team issues have been players like pedro and those two who you can’t be certain will pay. Foden is going about Gw8 as will my city defender. I’ve only got 1 fodder so there is a bench there but agree having too many of these type players causes problems
