Finger hovering on WC, so much deadwood to shift. Would you activate or hold?

    Areola Turner
    Udogie Kabore Cash Estu Baldock
    Son Diaby Mbuemo Salah Saka
    Haaland Alvarez Mubama

Who exactly is deadwood in your team apart from your 3 to 4 perma benched players? Your 7 man attack, areola, cash, udogie is what people are WCing to

Yep that's who I was referring to, as well as wanting to shift Estu and possibly Mbuemo. Really appreciate the replies, will probably hold off WC and just get Estu out for now. Thanks all

Don't follow the crowd when it comes to your WC. Use it when you feel the time is right for you.

So you are right, sometimes playing your own game instead of the narritive, you benefit.

Yep the only thing I didn't do on my WC which I wanted to was Watkins over Haaland and Odegaard over my 4.5 mid as I was told it was a bad decision, got to back yourself sometimes, I've rectified that mistake now and have the below.

              Areola
              Trippier Cash Udogie
              Salah Son Odegaard Bruno Bowen
              Watkins Awoniyi

Arsenal play City which means Saka will play and he is at home. Not sure why people are getting rid. Based on City's performance vs Wolves, their defence will be unreliable this season.

      But anyway, their choice...

Eze at 6.2, MGW at 5.8, Gordon(ban free) at 5.6 and Neto at 5.6 ... Suddenly there's really good value around 6 and below. PEN taking gibbs white or eze are going to be my punt from next week mostly IF I can overlook a ban free Gordon

I like set piece takers at these lower price points since they have an alternative route to points even on their many off days. Gonna be an interesting price point for sure. Always that thought of freeing up an extra mill for Bowen/Diaby but even though I can afford them id rather spend less so I can keep some money in the bank

Did early transfers last night, was planning to WC8 originally but now ending up with somewhat a decent team (missing Salah & Watkins):

    A. WC or B. Postpone

    Johnstone (Turner)
    Trippier Cash Udogie (Estupinan Botman*)
    Maddison Son Saka Diaby Bruno
    Haaland Alvarez (Osula*)

my thoughts are and always have been that as long as BHA are shipping the goals he's not in the top defenders to own irrespective of his attacking potential. You're basically taking a 1 or 2 pointer every 3 weeks waiting for that attacking return on the 4th week on average.

they'll bounce back for sure but they've had nice fixtures at the start of this season and no cleanie since Estupinan's greatest day in that win at Arsenal back in May.

With Lamptey looking more solid defensively, not sure Estupinan is nailed in that team.

He is. One poor half doesn't erase what he's done the last months. Lamptey isn't half the player Pervis is, even if he could maintain bare minimum fitness levels let alone Estupinan-fitness

In hindsight, Luton was the only 'banker' CS and that ruined only by a pen. Surely FUL/eve/SHU/che etc will provide more. I do agree that on the whole Brighton's defence isn't great, in many fixtures it doesn't really matter much due to the way they control games. I probably shouldn't have started Estupinan (over Kabore & Porro) this week but in rotation I'm still happy with him. Hell, all my defenders except Trippier are from fallible defences (Digne, Porro, Estu..)

Why have we let our game be run into the ground by people who don't even like it
From referees constantly making up new rules every year for a sport they have never played and probably hate
Greedy agents syphoning off whatever money they can from their commodities as they see them which are the players in the club's we love
And not to mention some of the owners running these clubs who think they know better than the manager, but not all of them.
The referees are really getting on my nerves now, they deserve every bit of stick they get. That match yesterday was an absolute farce, the ref never had control of that game at all, and u can stick ur apologies up ur hole, apologies don't bring the points back, u didn't even need the lines to see that yesterday, wouldn't have happened to the big oil money clubs or maybe that's the problem

So your happy enough letting our game be run by these halfwit referees, making up new rules every year, making more mistakes now than ever. Yet we have to just shutup and respect the ref while they make mistakes every game it seems now. We need ex players involved with these rulemakers, people who love the sport and can guide them properly. All they are is policemen policing our sport stick they're respect up their hole

Watkins has either been assisting earlier in the season and now scoring. Villa seem to have their playing style nailed down and look good. Can see Watkins picking up regular points
Trippier very good shout also with his fixtures. Watkins first shout and try to get Trip or New defence cover

One thing I thought watching MOTD last night as I hadn't seen most of the goals/scores yesterday was I want as many penalty takers as possible on the pitch. How stupid were the penalties conceded by Burnley and Bournemouth x2? Not even dodgy VAR handball penalties which have been plentiful, just brain dead defending. I think I actually said out loud Max Aarons wtf, Sunday morning school boy defending.

Made 2 transfers last night after a pretty disastrous week dropping from 16k to c60k.

    Estipinan to Burn
    Foden to Son

Gives me just Semenyo as bench cover this week! Loving the midfield now, though.

    What does everyone think?

    Leno
    Burn, Cash, Udogie
    Salah, Saka, Son, Maddison, Diaby
    Haaland, Alvarez

    (Areola, Semenyo, Botman*, Gusto*)

I'm still absolutely seething about the decisions that screwed Liverpool yesterday. What seems to be lost on people about the Jones red is that the onfield decision was a yellow so to over turn the decision it has to be a clear and obvious error. Given the circumstances around the challenge Jones made and his foot rolling on the ball and lack of intent/mallice, its not clear and obvious. It's about time they remove the clear and obvious stipulation from the equation as they don't apply it.

The initial action by Jones was not reckless. It was only made to look. so because his foot has rolled on top of the ball after going into the challenge which has then gone into the opponent accidentally.

If that is a red then they need to bring in a new ruling that prohibits players from putting their foot on top of the ball just in case it rolls off the ball and into an opponent. Absolutely ludicrous.

Football is a fast moving, highly physical game and you can get hurt. Players have suffered broken legs before where the other player involved in the challenge wasn't penalised simply because they didn't break any game rules. Just an unfortunate incident.

      • 16 Years

You don't know the rules. There was not intent, it wasn't overly reckless, it was unlucky and accidental. It was also a red card

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

You correctly state it wasn't reckless and was unlucky and accidental but then maintain it was a red? Right ok. lol. If this is the case then they should ban any type of physical contact just in case something unlucky happens from a players action and watch 6 a side matches due to everyone being sent off! Ridiculous

Also as per my original point, it wasn't clear and obvious to overturn the onfield decision

        1. Get up ya bum
          • 16 Years

You are being hyperbolic. The rules are very clear. None of that is even a factor in whether it's a red card. It was unfortunately dangerous. Many Red's are weak. Foster for example getting red card for digging his elbow in in some argy bargy. Modern football is weak. Dangerous tackles are a different story. The risk of serious injury is all that matters

I don't think it was dangerous.

In real time the foot rolled over the ball, it's a contact sport and the freeze frame exaggerated it for dramatic effect. Hence the red. VAR didn't need to intervene but chose to.

The Diaz 'off-side' was massive incompetence.

I don't think it is 'corruption' with money changing hands. It was a monumental chain of errors between 4 officials. The linesmen, the ref and VARs.

You are missing the whole point though. Well 2 actually. One, whether it was or wasnt worthy of a red, the onfield decision wasn't a clear and obvious error because of all the ambiguity around the circumstances so therefore should not be over turned. Secondly, the initial action from Jones wasn't reckless (which you have already conceded). It was made to look so only because his foot rolls on top of the ball and then into the players leg which could not have been forseen Scary that you are a ref having a take like this.

Was never a red card, anyone who has played the game knows what he was doing. The ball is slippy, he wasnt slide tackling he was in control of his body. Have none of yous ever tried a Cruyff turn cause that's what he was fkin doing and he slipped over the ball

I've been playing for 20 years and still playing, I know the rules I've seen this happen a lot and never seen a red card but then in the local leagues they're isn't as much handbags as we see on TV and u don't watch it in slow motion over and over. Go back and watch MOTD and listen to what the real explayers say about it then

You don't know the rules. Modern game is weak and refs give free kicks and cards way too softly. Dangerous tackles risking serious injury is different and the ref doesn't even have room for subjective interpretations

I thought Liverpool were hard done by on certain things but not the red card. It was unlucky for Jones regarding the ball but his tackle technique was all wrong you can't go into tackles with your foot raised/studs showing these days. Keep the feet on the ground and it probably doesn't happen.

Where do you think Referees come from? Do they ship them in from a planet where football doesn’t exist and set them free?

The only reason that anyone becomes a referee, committing themselves to a career of abuse from halfwits, is because they love the game. I guarantee that any professional referee has spent more time experiencing the game and has a better understanding of the application of the rules than the average fan that spends their time berating them.

You do realise that whatever you are doing is incomparable to the level of the Premier League right?

The rules have been set to protect professional players from serious injury and they are applied as harshly because we rightly expect professional players to be able to adhere to them not because of “handbags”.

Again, what makes you think that referees will have never played a game of football? Have you considered at all that the referees in the prem might be a bit different to the ones you encounter in whatever backwater league you apparently play in?
