Heartache mate. I sold Tsimi for Guehi and capped Watkins over Salah/Haaland. 24 point swing that would have got me a great boost this week.

I did exactly the same too.

I probably would do the same again - Brentford on paper a tougher team to play than Fulham, also if Watkins hadn't missed an open goal at the end we'd like have 24pts as captain... one of those things!

That miss really hurt. Watkins really should've hauled but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Glad I'm not alone, just hurts knowing that was probably the Tsimi haul of the season that could've really helped

Sold Tsimikas and captained Watkins. With the information we had at the time benching or selling Tsimikas was a fine call and Watkins had more than double Salah's xG. I'm fine with the decisions, can't control the outcomes.

It's a painful one, had such a terrible few game weeks. Tried to go against the "grain" this week by playing Archer over Tsimi. Going with the sensible decisions hasn't worked well for me this season, would've done great this week if I stayed sensible!

That's hindsight though. I'm not sure it was sensible to start Tsimikas after he had been benched and hooked at half time in his previous two matches. Would've been different if we knew Gomez was out.

Morning all - I hope everyone is well.

I feel I've been quite fortunate recently have no Arsenal players and just about getting away with it. I have 2 FT and am thinking of Mitoma and Daiby to Palmer and Saka - have the exact money. Thse moves would give me:-

    Areola
    Trippier, Cash, Guehi
    Salah, Son, Bowen, Saka, Palmer
    Haaland , Alvarez

    Flekken, Kabore, Archer, Burn

Initially I thought about defensive moves but there aren't many clean sheets flying around so happy to leave it as it is. I would have to move Palmer is asap due to price rises then Saka later in the 2 weeks.

Any thoughts appreciated (sorry for long post)

I'd say yes but do you really need Saka? He's not pulling up any trees lately, 3 assists 0 goals from the last 10 goals they've scored (including v Burnley and SHU)

I think it's probably the fear of not owning him - he has 50% ownership and I feel I've been lucky so far. As mentioned below Mbeumo could be an alternative. Really undecided

Good moves but I suspect Mbeumo will continue to match Saka for £1.8m less if you can deal with his blank gameweek

Yeah that seems fine. Could wait 2 more GWs on the Diaby - Saka part though I think given the fixtures. Its also possible we might get Nketiah up top for a week or 2 before Jesus is fit, and you could give Saka a bit of extra time to see if he's fully fit

I'm only holding TAA for one more week away to City (may even bench him for that game) and then he's gone in order to free up funds to get Bjorn Ironside back into my team in time for when City are at home to Spurs who don't have their first choice defenders.

The meatshield will feast on a central defence featuring Dier and Davies.

And if there's one thing I know.....it's feasts!

Think I'm reluctantly heading the same way. Would have like to hold Trent for FUL/shu but... you know, 4-4 doesn't exactly scream 'control' so will have to get Haaland back for Spurs. Think I'll downgrade TAA this week & then Watkins/Son in 14.

Is the other place down at the moment? Not loading for me.

So. Foster needs to go now. I have some money in bank. Might ideally like to keep some to upgrade 2nd choice GK Turner the following week.

      Foster OUT

      A) DCL
      B) Nketiah (mins concern)
      C) Solanke
      D) other? Who?

A or B allow goalkeeper upgrade flexibility
      C) eats my cash

Striker needs to be £6.6M or less (ideally £6.0 or less to save funds)

How soon does everyone expect Areola to lose his place? WHU have only kept one clean sheet all season.

I have not watched any West Ham, I have no idea. I will say that Areola was brilliant when he was Fulham's keeper a couple of year's back, even though Fulham were then utterly terrible.

      2. Sir Michael Taker

I'm not sure Areola is the issue, probably should have done better with the parry on Awoniyi's goal I think it was but he pulled off a world class save from Awoniyi's header and the underlying data suggests they are a very bad defensive side and either they've been getting lucky or he's an above average shot stopper to prevent it being worse.

Good to hear that from a WHU fan. I guess it won't be an issue if Areola does lose his place though as Fabianski is only at £4.2.

Guess it is best to just hold Areola until further notice.

They’re conceding about 5 shots on target a game - Areola is actually outperforming (slightly) his PSxG, so I’m not sure there’s much more he can do.

“No clean sheets so drop the keeper” is such lazy analysis and probably just an attempt to start a bit of fear-mongering.

Hey guys, got two FTs, 0 itb. Do have WC left but not sure it's needed.

What do you reckon you'd do here?
      Flekken Turner
      Trippier Cash Tsim Tark Baldock
      Salah Son Mitoma D.Luiz Palmer
      Haaland Alvarez Watkins

      Cash/Mitoma/Luiz all possible transfers out.
      A) Mitoma, Luiz to Mbeumo, Soucek
      B) Cash, Mitoma to Guehi, Mbeumo

You definitely don't need to WC. Your team is decent - the only downside is the 0.0itb which prevents you from upgrading players when you need to.

I'd probably just move Luiz to the cheapest starting midfielder and roll the other transfer. You can't play all 8 attackers anyway and it's worth having one cheapie in there to give the team balance and allow you to strengthen the starting XI. This should give you around 1.0itb and allows future upgrades like Mitoma to Mbeumo, Alvarez to Darwin etc

Brighton - is it a case of the bubble bursting with regards the recruitment side? Sure they've been unlucky with injuries but you'd have thought with Europa this season which they knew about before the transfer window opened, they'd have been more proactive than they were. The jury is out regarding Pedro so far albeit he's a big part of de Zerbi roulette but if he's your big signing and he's barely even a starter then something went wrong. Signing a keeper and then only playing him half the time too, not sure de Zerbi knows who is his best keeper even now. Fati's a good signing but de Zerbi uses him fleetingly. I suspect losing March is a big blow for them, doesn't get the credit he deserves and obviously Pervis too.

Don't get me wrong they're doing okay considering but 3pts from the last 3 games which you'd have expected 9 from (at least 7) isn't great.

I think they’ve been found out - no league win since September and not a single clean sheet.

Doesn’t help selling 2/3 of your midfield in one window like, and neither does constantly chopping and changing your lineup every week.

Their defence is really bad and the loss of Caceido and Mac Allister has caught up to them now.

To some extent, yeah. The big surprise for me in terms of their usually impeccable recruitment model was that they had no Caicedo replacement lined up. Think they could have managed without MacA if there had been just a little more continuity like Enciso being fit. But it seems like RDZ just can't settle on a stable double pivot & keeps shuffling Dahoud/Baleba/Gilmour/Groß etc around unsatisfactorily.

However, its interesting that they were still performing at somewhere close to last season's level up til the Villa game & Estupinan's injury. I know from an FPL POV people are down on him & BHA defence but his incredible workrate is key for them right across the pitch.

The lack of continuity up top is also a significant factor I think, with Welbeck/Ferguson injuries and the blossoming Fati/Pedro partnership being reserved for UEL for now.

I don't think the GK situation is that much of an issue though. Think Verbruggen will emerge as no1 but he is still fairly young & inexperienced

I think a bit, but losing Welbeck (an excellent presser and the best player they have up top for linking the play), Estupiñan (who can run the length of that left side of the pitch nearly all game and pushes opposition wingers back because he pushes up so high) and March (a workhorse who uses the ball very intelligently and who has been so key to how Brighton play for years) all at once is significant. For as talented as the likes of Ferguson, J.P. Fati, Lamptey or Adingra are, none of them get through the work that those 3 do

      Re Tssistikas

Easy to say this as a beneficiary of his haul, but benching/selling was absolutely the right decision. I firmly believe without a last minute and completely under the radar Gomez injury, Tsisti is nailed on for a one pointer.

This is just one of those FPL occasions where the only thing separating the haves and the have nots is pure blind luck.

Yeah, I talked to my friend who follows LFC closely, and he fully expected the team to play more three-box-three with TAA as a 6 going forward. I don’t want to spin a wheel of fortune that has 50% one-pointers in it every week

Yeah, I benched him and not fussed - no way I was playing him over Cash, Gabriel or Trippier when I wasn’t sure he’d start. Even in the LFC supporters ML I’m in, it seems the only ones who played him had to out of necessity (e.g. over Kabore and Botman)

Yeah exactly. I only played him as I didnt fancy Taylor or Branth (also an LFC fan btw). I basically rolled the dice and got double sixes - even though I only threw one of the buggers.

Who would you rather keep? Martinelli or Diaby? I’m sold on Eze but not sure which one I want to lose, Jesus back after the break which improves Martinelli for me & Villa have more away then home in the next few which makes me want to get off Diaby.

If Martinelli & Jesus are both fit that makes the decision a bit tougher but fixtures-wise I prefer Diaby for the next 2. I've been ready to lose the latter for a week or 2 now on the basis of his peformances but Spurs & Bournemouth away could suit him nicely. The Arsenal situation is pretty frustrating having to guess who's fit every week so I don't mind leaving them out for another couple GWs
