And cash Shame about Son, want to keep him over Saka. One more Saka rise would be nice for Mbeumo (and Pedro to Darwin). Will still play Alvarez against that Spurs defence

Losing SP on both Son and Bowen and losing ground on getting Saka eventually - not a good trading day.

    A: Son + Jota + Eze + Bowen -> Salah + Palmer + Mbeumo + Gordon (-8)
    B: Jota + Watkins + Eze + Bowen -> Salah + Solanke + Palmer + Gordon (-8)

If I don't get a definitive answer on Bowen I'm going to make a change. What looks like the best option here, I have Salah, Son, Saka and Mbeumo already.
    A) Sterling
    B) Doku
    C) Gordon
    D) Palmer

C or D frees up cash to move Alvarez to Watkins either this week or next. With A or B I'd be looking at Nunez or Isak.

Any other suggestions I've overlooked? Thanks.

They are then only one defender down after Man City

Sure Gordon can or may score but this Man City game is the last without him.

I prefer Nunez and Isak to Watkins for funds reasons.

Thing is Spurs actually have a good recent record against City and are probably their bogey team. Son has 7 goals and 3 assists against City as well in his time at Spurs.

That said, I did sell Son last night for Mbeumo as I needed to free up funds to get Haaland back who to me is more essential than Son at the moment.

Transfers will affect much more than 3 GWs, especially since injuries keep piling up

Livra can be benched vs Spurs. I'm not scared of Man U for him via attacking or defensive returns. The other games until GW20 are very good, including facing Luton in the BGW

He's a good asset in his own right. Just as Tsimi is a good asset

That's why I asked if there's a different route to Tsimi

City away and spurs only scored 3 away goals in the last 3 away games. Opposition luton, wolves and palace

              • 7 Years
              2 years, 3 months ago

Each of those games has context:

Luton: Spurs bombarded Luton's charmed goal for 20+ minutes and then they had a red card

Palace: Son scored and had 0.82 xG, and this was while Palace was still formidable

Wolves: Ange had to play a midfield of practically three CDMs due to flags and fitness, which he instantly dropped vs Villa once more attacking players were match-fit enough to start. They bombarded the Villa goal but had Son's hat trick ruled out due to Villa's well-executed high line

Watch last night's highlights to see how Ange's exact game play will toy with City's high line: City got undone repeatedly by their own offside trap

I will be selling Son or Saka this week. Gives the team more balance. The more I think about it, the more I will keep Son. Saka has been extremely luck against weak opponents fixture wise and Luton away is much tougher than hom

        I'm on WC. Any changes?

Sanchez/Raya - play Raya most of the time. ARS double up in D as they have best defence.

Branthwaite, Saliba, Lascelles, Tsimikas, Baldock - cheap defence as fewer cs this year but gives at least three certain starters.

Son, Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, Bowen - Son or Saha?

Haarland, Watkins, Archer - should I get Isak for Archer?

        0.9 in da bank.

Any feedback please? Thank you 🙂

Gks rotation: I notice that Areola, Leto and the BOU keeper rotate well till 29.

          I don't like that defence

I'd pick one keeper (Raya) and park Areola/Kelleher (depends on Alisson news) there as backup, then spend the rest on pushing Baldock and Branthwaite up to Livramento and maybe Porro or eventually James

Alternatively, two cheap GKs (Areola and Sanchez rotate) and double-up on Arsenal defenders with Saliba/Zinch + Gabriel as well as Livra + Lascelles. Two double-ups from the few strong defences

          1. Ze_Austin
            • 7 Years
            2 years, 3 months ago

Even if you dislike double-ups, I'm sure you'd agree that Zinch/Saliba and Livra/Schär will outscore Baldock and Branthwaite while all four are fit and starting

Yes they would be it's the price factor esp when there are so few cs this season.

Lascelles, Saliba, Raya give me three certain starters and good points potential. Tsimikas for now looks a good pick.

You are talking to the Ubermaestro here remember 😉

            Thanks.

Kelleher would only be there for a handful of weeks as Alison is unlikely to have a long term injury so I need a more reliable back up.

Areola doesn't keep cs so he doesn't appeal to me.

Sanchez is only 4.6 but would prefer a cheaper option.

Livra - not sure he's a certain starter.

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years

You want a reliable backup GK but your starting defenders are suffering for it

You'd easily play Raya in every game, yeah? It's even fine to get a 3.9 and park him there until Raya's injured

I'm only talking about pulling money out of the GK department because your defence is very thin. Yes, few clean sheets this year. I don't think the solution is to get the cheapest defenders who you don't want to start or have auto-subbed in during Christmas rotations/flags

That last sentence: I am only rotating one in each week out of Branthwaite, Tsimikas and Bald Eagle.

Lascelles and Saliba would start each week.

Good point though about a cheap back up gk. Let's do it. 🙂

Yeah, that's the plan while you're here on a wildcard and still very sure of who's fit and who's injured

But things get dicey when you don't have enough FTs to address a temporary red card ban (assume something like James's red card happens to Saliba) or a short-term injury for a player you don't want to sell (see Bowen) so you're then forced to start Archer, Branthwaite or Baldock

These injuries, flags and random rests happen more frequently over the December fixture crunch, hence the popular idea of fattening the bench a bit. That's where I'm coming from, really

                  Good luck 🙂

Looking at the attack now, I think I'd take Gordon or Kudus over Bowen due to the fixture crunch ahead, as there's an annoying chance that Bowen gets a rest to avoid the knee flaring up again

Actually... Kudus + Gordon over Bowen + Palmer looks pretty good to me

But that's if I had a WC right now

Not sure Kudus does enough for me. Palmer has good fixtures, is on pens and has good underlying numbers right now.

Gordon appeals but Mbeumo and Palmer would be ahead of him right now.

            Thanks for the input.

Quick question: do you watch as many games involving clubs from other countries as you watch those involving English clubs?

I have sold Saka on WC as his underlying nos look awful in last 4. Hardly getting any chances and just relying on assists.

4 assists in 5 is not to be sniffed at, regardless of underlying numbers, the fixs are easing up significantly now so you’d expect it to improve.

To be fair, there's only one easy fixture left that's anywhere near as good as the Sheffield and Burnley games where he got one assist each: Luton in GW15

There's something about Arsenal's wingers that feels off so far. I'm definitely keeping Saka though, yet he's fallen off my captaincy radar

It's s plane as the nose on your face isn't it? Spurs with Maddison & Son playing together were absolutely flying up until the end of November, top of the league & Son hauling for fun. As soon as Maddison goes off injured in the Chelsea game, Spurs absolutely fall apart and Son becomes a two point merchant. Easy sell for me.

Yeah, I watched the game and here's the bottom line...Deux Point (again). If you've got him and you're holding on to him then good luck. Personally, I'd prefer to earn some worthwhile points in the meantime until Maddison returns.

I'm looking at Spurs totally differently. Such encouraging signs in that Villa game - once Bissouma & Sarr are back, and the AM strata more settled (i.e. no Gil), I still see a ton of points in this attack. Kulusevski & Lo Celso on my radar to restore triple Spurs (after Newcastle maybe)

Madders only provided two assist for Son which were rather simple passes in midfield than key passes.

However, the other two double assists came from Richarlison and Solomon who are both out as well but no one is crying for them to be missing.

My feeling is, that Spurs and especially Son were a bit unlucky against Villa. With Udogie back, they looked much better again. Brenson still needs some time to fit in and connect with Son. He could have created a few more big chances for Son but preferred to go for goal instead.

Only reason for selling Son would be for getting Haaland back in when closer to January. But that's also the time when Salah is out so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do next.

I'm in a similar place with Bowen and Turner, so I'd just tell you what I'm considering:

If Bowen's out, he goes for Gordon (prefer him to Palmer)

If Bowen's fit and Alisson's fit, easy roll FT

If Bowen's fit and Alisson's out for a while, Turner to Kelleher

          50:50, imo

Both are facing depleted defences. Alvarez has set pieces while Palmer has pens. Both are nominally close to goal but haven't had much open play involvement in recent weeks (especially Alvarez)

        3) Alvarez Bowen to Isak Mbeumo

Do you want to sell Alvarez before Spurs.

I don't but then I don't want him away to Villa.

He maybe rested / rotated in GW15/16

Same with Tsimikas. And even Darwin but I think he is more nailed

        Thinking of Alvarez --> Isak
        then...
Van De Ven --> Best defender to pick? I have 4,8 budget for this.

        My team currently

        Areola / Leno

Cash - Andersen - Tsimikas - Lascelles - Van De Ven

        Saka - Salah - B. Fernandes - Bowen - Hee Chan

        Haaland - Edouard - Alvarez
