Gameweek 17 begins today and Betway have joined in with a couple of Super Boost offers.

A Friday night clash between Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur kicks off the action, before five matches on Saturday and four on Sunday. It climaxes with the big Liverpool v Manchester United meeting, as Jurgen Klopp’s side looks to increase the growing pressure on Erik ten Hag.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK 17 SUPER BOOST?

If you’re new to the Super Boost, it’s effectively enhanced odds on cherry-picked match events.

A trio of match events, to be exact, so you’ll need all three to come in.

On Saturday, Betway are offering 2/1 odds for this treble rather than the original 10/11:

  • Julian Alvarez (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Alexander Isak (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Cole Palmer (1+ Shots on Target)

Meanwhile, there’s 2/1 instead of 8/11 on offer for Sunday’s Super Boost:

  • Mohamed Salah (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Darwin Nunez (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Luis Diaz (1+ Shots on Target)

SATURDAY

The first boost dips into a trio of meet-ups.

Julian Alvarez is goalless in seven league games but, crucially, might be used up front for Manchester City’s hosting of Crystal Palace. Efforts on target have recently been sporadic for the World Cup winner but he had three shots during last week’s absence of Erling Haaland. If the Norwegian superstar is again ruled out, Alvarez should be deployed closer to goal.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United are hard to call right now. Three successive defeats in all competitions, poor on the road but with seven wins from eight at St James’ Park. In fact, their 33 big chances at home rank first of all teams. That’s why Alexander Isak is backed to get opportunities against Fulham, knowing that Callum Wilson started in midweek.

Prospects look even better for Cole Palmer. The young midfielder was still able to get two attempts on target during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss last Sunday and now he gets to face Sheffield United. The Blades have, by far, conceded the most shots on target (117) so far.

SUNDAY

Then, on Sunday, the boost puts a lot of faith into Liverpool’s attackers.

It’s easy to see why when noticing they’ve scored 21 times during the last five games against rivals Man United. An average of 4.2 per occasion, culminating in March’s 7-0 thrashing.

Furthermore, Mohamed Salah has an extraordinary recent record in these match-ups. He’s delivered eight goals and four assists from the latest four, which means he’s being involved in roughly three goals each time. On top of that, the Egyptian is joint-fourth for this season’s shots on target (20).

Team-mate Darwin Nunez is slightly more frustrating. He netted twice in the 7-0 but is currently without a goal in six league games. Sat seventh for shots on target (18) and second for big chances (18), the latter is actually more than Salah despite playing just 905 minutes compared to 1,377. His problem is converting these attempts, having a low conversion rate of 8.9%.

Seeing Cody Gakpo play all 90 minutes of Thursday’s Europa League encounter means it’ll likely be Salah, Darwin and Luis Diaz as the front three. As a team, Liverpool rank first for shots (280) and Diaz put four of them on target during the last home match versus Fulham.

So I went -12 for the 2nd time this season. Hopefully this time it will end up better.

Pau, Porro, Son and Solanke in for Pinnock, Gabriel, Gross and Haaland.

I took an -8 in the end I'm not sure if I've ever gone that big before.

Taylor, Maguire, Haaland to TAA. Porro, Solanke

Good luck, at least TAA and Solanke should be in the points.

I'd say almost everyone is on -4 at least, so my -12 is like other gws' -8.

Sounds like I'm not the only one with more than one hit.

It is usually not that bad if everyone is in trouble. But it can backfire, especially when there is another low score GW like a week ago.

Took a -8. Don't like taking any hits normally. Porro Son and Senesi in to get 11 players out. Holding Haaland as what feels like a differential move

I've bought Gusto knowing he may flop & may not even start this week - but he should be more useful than Kabore on the bench.

Better option than Charlie Taylor too, although he's been massive the exact 2 GWs he needed to be.

Haha yes. I was very aware of him right at the drop mark. Was willing to stomach that knowing I'm likely not to use a transfer on him after this GW with all fun about to come up.

It's possible, although FFFix says not tonight.

The price drop put me off putting him in. My team value is fairly low so didn't want to take an unnecessary risk.

They rarely do as most of the time we're points chasing and sometimes swap out perfectly fine players for others slanted to haul that particular GW.

If moving out non-playing players, mayy be worth it.

The Haaland out experiment worked out great then. Those who had the balls and were brave enough to take out did pretty well it seems. Personally I rose about 2m in rank, was having a poor season having the same team as everyone else

Plan originally was to potentially get him back last week v Luton but I decided I’d go without him until after the club World Cup and him missing these 2 games just validates the move even more

Haven’t enjoyed fpl more since I took him out towards end of October. Was never scared or worried without him as fpl doesn’t do that to me anymore but also had confidence in the rest of my team being better overall than with shoe horning in Haaland.

Anyone else without Haaland, how did you get on over the last month and half?

      GW8 wildcard without. From 2.1m now 190k.
I went without because I saw something different in City this year. And I should have gone wildcard in seven not eight.
A lot of small mistakes with some picks, and too late on the Palmer train.
Porro was one of the best choices I've done I think swapping from Udogie, and I'm so annoyed he hasn't got more points.
Darwin should have got more points, but I kind of knew he's frustrating.
Haaland did what you'd expect points wise, maybe unlucky vs Boy, but in my view lucky both vs United and Chelsea to get that big haul.
I watched Luton-Liverpool in gw11 and I decided to forgo Haaland until the blank.
My only regret is not going Trent.

Nottingham Forest stick with the same starting XI from their 1-1 Premier League draw at Wolves last weekend as they look to end a five-game run without a victory.

Nottingham Forest XI: Turner, Mangala, Boly, Murillo,Williams, Kouyate, Gibbs-White, Toffolo, Niakhate, Elanga, Yates.

Subs: Vlachodimos, Wood, Hudson-Odoi, Dominguez, Origi, Danilo, Montiel, Omobamidele, Aina.

Tottenham XI: Vicario, Porro, Davies, Romero, Udogie, Johnson, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Son, Richarlison.

Subs: Forster, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Gil, Royal, Dier, Veliz, Donley, Dorrington.

If spanning a few seasons probably Trent as Trips is getting old.

Depends how long and your possible moves. I went Trent this week selling Trippier, which means I'm having one week advantage from that move.
In the next five weeks I am confident that Trent outscores Trippier. But after 22 Trippers fixtures turns and Newcastle will have gotten more players matchfit and back and no Europe, then it's either a scenario where you buy Trippier alongside Trent or for Trent. Pools fixtures also nice but then Europe starts for them

Richarlison again? urgh, bad news for Son I think going forwards. Might score a few in the next couple but expected to go back to his normal ways sooner rather than later I imagine. Not good for long term prospects particularly for Son. Probably on pens too

Two assists last week and the pen with Rich up top. Looked very involved.

Not so much, was playing more as an inside forward with Rich versus Newcastle, than hugging the touchline previously.

I'd rather Son on the left. More opportunity to pick up the ball facing his opponent, where he's at his most dangerous

Nah, Son was electric last game and when Richarlison has his shooting boots on Son racks up assists

With the help of their first pen of the season yes. Just because he scored well last week doesn't mean that his prospects for future points are better served from him continuing to play out wide.

Again rather a daft reply. I'm merely making the point that he has a higher points potential playing up front through the middle than playing wide. Doesnt mean he should be transfered out.

I guess it's a good sign that reality is taking over from fantasy! 😀

Not sure what state my team is in and if I'm getting 11 players out. I remember Cash > Udogie was my initial plan, keeping Haaland. Don't know how well that idea held up to today, but doesn't matter now. At least - I think - I haven't burnt a transfer.

Any Forest fans explain why bossman dropped Turner who had only conceded 16 goals in 11 games for Greek fella who concedes 13 goals in 5 games. I rated him up until that point, seemed a backwards move.

Owners are Greek. Perhaps some external pressure on the selection?

After a poor loss Turner has come straight back in.

Mark (FFScout/Blackbox, Forest fan) is under the impression Turner probably keeps his spot whilst Cooper is there but if anothet manager comes in the Greek keeper may well get another run out...
