I'm sure I'm not the only one to have mentioned it, but this open gw17 is starting to feel incredibly cack-handed from the PL.

    Bottomed

If there is no PL announcement, then I can see FPL being forced into crediting the BOULUT points.

Because there is still a PL rulebook possibility that the game could be forced to resume playing from the point of abandonment.

Not saying that is likely, but it's a possibility. And therefore, FPL are more likely to skew towards giving the points than run the risk the game isn't replayed in its entirety and then they get a huge amount of moaning from people who feel they have been cheated.

I thought that I read that this is only possible if the game was simply suspended rather than abandoned. As it has been abandoned then if it is to be played again then it has to from scratch and not from the point that it ended

I'm afraid not, I've seen a lot of things quoted in recent days on this but I thought this was one thing that kept cropping up (as I too at first was under the impression that restarting from whatever minute they ended at was an option)

Hmm odd then as to why FPL aren't just marking it off the calendar if there are no alternatives but to reschedule

There is still the possibility that a replay isn't announced at all and the fixture stands as it was AFAIK. Probably unlikely now but might depend on how the clubs perceive a draw as the result from the fixture

My expectation is if there's no decision from the PL they'll remove the points. I doubt they'll care too much about the moaners.

Settled on selling Sanchez, just can't decide on Martinez vs Leno, would you bet you money on AV CSs or Leno's save points? Kinda tempted to bet on AV.

Leno. Save & bonus pts are more important than trying to cover one of the top defences imo. If Moreno starts ahead of Digne he'll be the better, high ceiling, route into their defence

    7. Atimis
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Ain't looking to you on paper AV with like 2/3 potential CS next 5 games and Fulham with eventually 1?

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

I think maybe 3-2 in Villa's favour, but Arsenal aside I really like Leno's fixtures for a while. Games like Chelsea away he'll definitely pick up save pts & there's big haul potential there - so likely 3-4pts if he concedes, maybe 10 with a CS.

I thought Martinez would only pick up bonus pts in games like City/Arsenal, although now that I look more closely he actually got an 8 in the 4-0 win over Everton which is quite Leno-esque tbf.

But still Leno is quite comfortably ahead on saves (73 v 48), so I'd expect him to hit those big hauls more often. 3 of his 5 CS so far have been 9/10/12pts; whereas Martinez ceiling I think is usually more like 8/9

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years

Ultimately they're both top options though so if you have more of a feeling for Martinez I certainly don't think its wrong

Leno is 13 points ahead of Martinez

Leno has one own goal, while Martinez has missed one game

I'd prioritise Leno. The trick with Leno is to ignore every temptation to sell him when he's not flagged

Depends on the rest of your squad, mainly will this be a bench player?

As a Man U fan, I'd say Mctom - currently a talisman in many of our movements (the very few we have!).

Man U fixtures are also OK long term, so you're not investing into another transfer shortly down the line.

The fact you still have Haaland suggests it was a conscious hold, so stick with that.

I'd take the gamble wither Turner or Areola play. If they don't you can always make that move next week for free.

If you do want to take the -4 - then I'd pick someone more long term than Dubravka (tough fixtures as mentioned, but also potential new keeper in Jan)

A lot of problems with this team, but who would be your priority?
(very likely no gk, useless Mitoma and Reguilon, overused Gordon, who might be dead)

    1.2 ITB, 1FT
    Areola
    Trippier, Tsimikas, Porro, Taylor
    Salah, Saka, Gordon, Palmer, Mitoma
    Watkins
    Sanchez – Archer, Reguilon, Haaland

    Thanks!

      LOL this is unlucky.

      No WC I guess?

IMO it's not actually as bad as it looks. Areola might well regain his place if you want to take a gamble on that.

I reckon Sanchez to goalkeeper of choice and Mitoma to Richarlison is worth a -4.

      Sort Reg next week.

Despite the mistakes at the back, I personally believe you get Trippier in for his appeal going forward. So yes it's annoying that he loses BAPS and CS for those mistakes, but it has little to no impact on his ability to earn points at the other end of the field.

With Salah and Son soon departing - my approach is going to be both and I'd suggest the same to you.

Then just decide which one you want for 3 more games than the other (probably TAA based on fixtures)

    Dub
    Gab tsimikas cash

    Watkins Nunez

    Areola Tark Udogie archer

    1ft 8.2itb

    Thinking cash/Tsimikas/udogie to trippier gw18

    Nunez to haaland gw20 free

    Any better ideas?

      • 7 Years

It's only a punt and an unpopular opinion, but I think Cash can punish sellers this week.

I think Tsimi to Trippier is an *OK* move, but after LUT, NFO, Trippier then has LIV, MCI, AVL

I'd be tempted to wait until GW23.

I've had Trippier for a long time, so I'll hold until GW20, but I would not be looking to bring him in right now if I did not already have him.

I don't think your defence is as bad as you think. I wouldn't be spending points to change it at this exact moment in time.

As for the Nunez replacement, maybe have a think of who you enjoy watching at the moment and have a go on that - or who you feel is involved in a lot of plays. Solanke is the clear choice now Jimenez is suspended.

You could always go Nunez to Solanke for now. Archer to Haaland in GW20 (use the funds from downgrading Son or Salah before they're off for respective cups)

Yeah well he'd have been out for GW16/17/18 so not madnto have done so with advanced knowledge. Isak hasn't exactly done too well for him in that period...

So his Dad wanted a two week punt, why are we assuming Haaland is injured for longer? His Dad banked 0.1M on taking him out (if he gets him back at 13.9) brought in Solanke who scored (points pending) and has another fixture, before he could easily do Solanke back to Haaland (probably with a bit of change in his pocket) for GW19

You won’t get any news pre week 19 so why risk it- only started individual training so can’t see him playing both Everton and Sheffield United games which only have 2 rest days between them

I mean, we've all seen photos of him in training so the guy is hardly Nostradamus.

Well training individually anyway which isn’t same as back in team training-we won’t hear anything pre week 19 which is only 7 days away so at earliest week 20 to bring back for me

Does anyone know if there is a particular reason Brighton have such a favourable schedule over Christmas compared to the rest? Game on 21st, 28th Dec then 2nd January. Contemplating a punt on Gross as Brighton should have fresher legs over the three games so good chance to get back to winning ways for them and he doesn't get rotated too often

I don't know why the fixtures are like that, but I will likely also be punting on Gross myself - funnily enough at a different time and for different reasons entirely. I don't see BHA getting much out of the next 3, but the 3 after look delightfully timed for Son, Salah and other AFCON/ACUP departures.

Yeah that's true also. Think I'll go for him if news isn't great on Gordon but yeah he could be gold in January too like you said

Even if you go early I think it's actually OK - you'll likely get some good team value in if he gets some points across Christmas as everyone will jump on for those better fixtures - one would assume

Cheers mate. My OR doing quite decent this year so need to be a step ahead with midfield as finding it hard to climb any higher with the template midfield going around now

    Any ideas with this lot?

    Dubravka
    Tsimikas Gabriel Guehi
    Salah Son Saka Gordon* Palmer
    Watkins Solanke

    Areola Schar* Udogie* Archer

Im thinking Schar and Udogie to Porro and a Villa defender for a -4.
    1ft and 0.7 itb.

    Many thanks

I'm in a similar position and tempted to roll FT for a Haaland reshuffle next GW

I don't understand where all of your team value is. I'd expect you to have 1.5-3m ITB with the amount that's on the field. I guess you've been unlucky or not kept an eye on that over the season

      Anyway, onto the topic...

Porro is worth the -4 in my opinion.

Villa defender is a lucky dip - I'd avoid that. I'd be tempted to downgrade the other defender to Branthwaite (or similarly cheap defender) to free up funds for further improvements elsewhere in the future.

Just noticed you have the exact funds for Udogie to Porro.

Do that this week, no hit.

No need to take a hit to a budget, bench fodder this week.

Then next week see where you're at, maybe take the -4 then if it allows further upgrades.

Looking at Lascelles to Trippier only this week and rolling my FT into GW19. I'll then be at GW19 with 2FTs at this team (no idea who to start/bench, considering a bench boost!)

    Areola (ars), kelleher (bur)
Trippier (NFO), Tsimikas (bur), Gusto (CRY), Porro (bha), Gabriel (WHU)
Salah (bur), Saka (WHU), Bowen (ars), Gordon (NFO), Palmer (CRY)
Haaland (eve), Watkins (mun), Semenyo (FUL)

Areola and Kelleher would be the only changes I really need to make?

    Areola*
    Trippier, Zinch, Lascelles, Tsimikas
    Salah, Son, Palmer, Bowen
    Watkins, Solanke

    Turner* - McAtee - Taylor - Alvarez**

    7,5 ITB. 1 FT

Boring, but sensible move, is Areola to Leno/Martinez right?

That or roll and hope one of Areola or Turner plays.

Don't love Zinch against Liverpool at home, but that being said, Liverpool looked a little unimaginative against United.

Currently have J Pedro on Draft, relying on him to play and his fixture run is lovely but he’s a huge rotation risk. Would you swap him for either of these?

    A - Hojlund
    B - Gakpo

Best differential midfield punt for one week only?

    a) Kudus - MUN (H)
    b) Olise - BRI (H)
    c) Willian - BUR (H)

      B or C

I would not pick A out of the 3.

Between B & C is a tough one, they're very close IMO so I would actually just go with whichever pick you feel more excited for emotionally out of those two.

        Good advice tbf!

The answer to that would be Olise, so looks like I'll be going with him.

The longer the PL take, the more likely FPL will decide to keep the points as scored and close the GW.

Yes, I think Digne starts this week personally and even when Moreno is fully up to scratch I can see them rotating for a bit. Digne has been playing really well

Hard to say. This is one od the things I wanted to ask (editor) Tom. I think he will claim the spot but there is still a chance you'll have to deal with a bit of rotation. But if you're feeling bold the upside is certainly there.
