Important not to kneejerk but contemplating him making way for Haaland. Let’s see if he plays first.

Genuine question for Villains (or anyone else who has seen their games over the season), what is the situation with Watkins? I have only watched the last 2 Villa games on Sky this season and not any of the previous games, and he must have only touched the ball about 20 times across the 2 matches. Yet the stats for the previous games show multiple goals and assists that you would expect from a player of his quality. Has anything changed? Does Bailey instead on Diaby change the dynamic? On the basis of the last 2 weeks he is an immediate sell, sadly. Cheers

Not a Villa fan but rotation has had an impact in their style of play against certain opponents.

Watkins doesn’t really do touches tho. He is probably one of few who starts every game for them so probably this is just a cold streak for him & he’ll be back firing soon.

Cheers pal. You are probably right. Although I can handle a cold streak where he loses his touch on the ball, or shoots wide, but not being in the game, or even touching the ball, is much more concerning! A clear sell after Burnley for me. x

      Keeping for GW22+

He's fit and plays for a good attack when he faces Villa, Luton, Forest and Bournemouth in a row

Might even sneak something in vs Man City at St James'

It's the Newcastle defence I'm more worried about, but I'll continue rotating Dubravka and Areola while Lascelles stays parked at third sub until I can convert him to... err... Estupinan in GW22

Grealish not that great of a differential - Doku is in training and Haaland probably back soon

Prefer Areola to Turner, which means you can get a better option for Emerson

Like the Jota pick - punty but could pay off. Could also be a bit early as we’re not quite sure how the Liverpool attack will fare without Salah

Nkunku instead of Jackson - don’t over think it

I'd still be a bit wary of double Arsenal defence.

I know it paid off last week and could well do so again on Thursday night but by and large it's best to split the defence.

Arsenal don't keep many clean sheets at home where they have to go for it and are quite open and are committed to playing it out from the back so will give up chances on the road.

Yeah same - I’m on TAA Porro Gabriel and that’s probably where I’ll stay. That’s why I left a slash differential in that spot. Lots of nice 4.5m defenders in that range

I'm trying to get back to Gabriel but was 0.1m short the other day.

I've got Trent, Porro, Senesi, Walker and Gusto with Martinez in goal.

Think I'll hold Walker in January then switch for an Arsenal defender unless I've got cash itb.

If Haaland doesn't return and with Son and Salah going it will be an unconstrained game price wise.

Which would highlight the soft pricing, Kane going etc.

      Haaland, Watkins, Archer/Semenyo

Leaves 1M ITB for me, could have Solanke over Watkins and have another 1.5M in the bank, so 2.5M in the bank = defender up to Trippier or another decent GK

        There is this.

Salah looks a decent captain option in gw20 so holding off from Haaland until he's back fit is easy enough too.

You can also just take a hit if you want him in but many are carrying 2 FTs as well as wildcards so elaborate plans aren't really necessary and just play the here and now.

    Raya Areola
    Konsa Porro Gabriel Lascalles Guehi

Son + Archer to Haaland + Foden for a -4??

Benching Salah because of your loss of value - if you trade him?

For me, it's 0.8 in appreciation with a 0.4 loss

Getting Salah back means I will lose someone like Palmer or Gordon to a Garnacho downgrade

        There's fine.

We had to sacrifice Son or someone at that price earlier but I still managed to have Salah and Haaland but no premium defenders.

There's an argument for sacrificing Haaland from mid Feb if Son and Salah are on form.

They could be a little tired tho.

European players wouldn't return to the league after the Euros in a summer... Guess they play right into that competition at the end of the season tho.

Yeah, I bought him at 12.5.....currently he is at 13.3....he might drop to 13.1 max which means I will have to pay 0.6 more if I use up all the money I gain from selling him....not worth it imo plus I don't expect Egypt to go all the way and Salah might be back soon....LIV has ARS, CHE and NEW in the next 4 so don't expect too many CS from them to worry about Trent too much.....City has SHU, BUR and EVE in the next 4 so was kinda thinking about Foden who no-one is talking about right now

Apparently Egypt often go deep when played in West Africa.

What I don't get is why 0.4m counts more than the £12.5m+ on the pitch for the games he will miss.

Like holding Haaland seems a missed opportunity too.

Holding Haaland is a missed opportunity because LIV had great fixtures in the last 3-4 GW's and it was logical to bring in TAA to cover up the points....now LIV have terrible fixtures and don't think TAA is essential in the next 4 so if you can have a team you want without sacrificing Salah, that is the best option imo

I agree with the first part, but besides the Arsenal game away in gw23 the fixtures look winnable for Liverpool up to gw28.

              They are top too.

Winnable? True but will they be able to keep a CS against CHE, ARS and NEW? If we are relying on attacking returns from Trent, why not buy a city attacker in Foden who has great fixtures in the next 4....I can be wrong and have been in the past but this seems more logical unless Foden loses his place now that KDB is back

Hey all, hope you had a good Xmas.

Do you think a move from Palmer to Odegard over the next 5-6 weeks is worth it? Or just stick with Palmer?

As in make the move now, will it be worth it over the next 5-6 weeks

I think they have pretty similar points potential, so you'll pay more for about the same points

        I wouldn't

Maybe Odegaard in for an AFCON/Asian Cup player instead

Wood has played 90mins three times this season:

    GW9 - 13pts
    GW18 - 11pts
    GW19 - 17pts

4.9m....must be the new Archer, right?

      You missed GW14, 2pts 90mins, and he's had 6 starts altogether.

Gonna WC ahead of GW21 so which GW20 one GW punt to bring in instead of Areola/Hwang?
Got 3 mil ITB and 1 FT

    Areola
    TAA - Porro - Saliba
Salah - Son- Saka - Palmer - Hwang
    Watkins - Solanke

    (Dubravka, Trippier, Archer, Taylor)

You'd say Villa at home ... So Douglas Luiz or Bailey?

      Or a Man City midfielder...

      Or Arsenal away.

      For Hwang.

      Richarlison

Areola is good for saves vs Brighton. It's crazy hard to predict GK points this season, so I'd punt on Richarlison instead with that FT

Richarlison a good shout. For a one week punt Kudus or Jota could also be fun differential options

Kudos possibly is a good punt too.

Presumably he's allowed to play on Tues 2nd Jan evening, in gw20 ...

Or you start to see the inconsistency for Salah etc.

Think I’ll accept that Haaland will be back for me in GW21 on WC.
Salah will stay for one more GW.

Jota is too much of a punt before AFCON

Why is Palmer still red flagged for GW20 team? He'll be available during the weekend....right?

He only becomes available once Chelsea's match is completed, as his suspension will shift to next GW if it's abandoned

For GW21 forwards plan once Salah and Som have left, which do you prefer

    A. 3-5-2
    Saka Bowen Palmer Richarlison Odegaard
    Haaland Watkins Archer

    B. 3-4-3/ slight bench headache
    Saka Bowen Palmer Richarlison GroB
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 11 months ago

I think the Solanke outscores Odegaard, so it's B for me. Solanke also has a DGW incoming anyway. Gross lets you bench Palmer sometimes

      1. Rico123
        • 3 Years
        1 year, 11 months ago

Thanks. Yes I was originally assuming I’d stick 3-5-2 but I increasingly 3-4-3 option might be best way to go to spread funds, and Watkins and Solanke are as nailed as they come.

A above does also give me slightly more in bank to have option of going Kulu over Richarlison or upgrading my keeper, but I think B feels stronger still

        1. Ze_Austin

Richarlison should outscore Kulusevski as Ange's striker, imo

Any extra funds can go into defence

          D. Luiz over Gross is a consideration

Pascal Groß but don't tell everyone. He's certainly going under the radar and doing well right now.

            • 3 Years

Yes agree. I think Brighton’s dip in form plus him being a slightly awkward price point when everyone is trying to fit in premiums and then needing cheaper midfield enablers (Gordon, Palmer etc) has meant he’s gone under the radar but he’s pretty consistent

Wanted to get Groß weeks ago. But like many teams injuries happen with your team.

It would have to be Gordon > Groß

      It's a tough one...

      Guess you don't have Alvarez?

You'd hold Solanke despite the Villa fixtures. Apparently Watkins is better away but did he bag his haul at home most recently?

Nah never fancied him to be honest. Dodged a bullet I think. Front line is Archer Solanke and Watkins

          I'd hold Watkins then.

He'll go on a streak soon enough.

Solanke is great but just checked and they've got Spurs, Liverpool and West Ham coming up.

Mind, Spurs away is fine for attacking players and Bournemouth did well against Liverpool recently.

The way things are this season I fancy an in form striker to score against any team in the league. Solanke will continue to do well regardless of the colour of the fixture ticker.

Yeah this is kind of my thinking too. I expect them to do as well as each other (potentially) but if I sell Watkins I can upgrade defence/keeper

Per my post above I’m actually considering going to 343 and keeping both. If I do keep one thought I think for now Watkins is still the one to keep and will get more points medium term

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        1 year, 11 months ago

I was considering it but I don’t think it’s viable unless I want to reshuffle my midfield, which I don’t think I do. It is tempting though.

The value is in midfield I feel. Who would I remove? Bowen? No chance - great form and too much value locked up in him. It is tempting though.

Value won't be in midfield during AFCON/Asia Cup. Everyone will be dropping down several million on Son and Salah replacements unless KDB becomes an option.

That's fair. I was just answering your question

I'm getting there via selling Salah, fwiw, so there's a lot of funds

          1. The Big Fella
            • 9 Years
            1 year, 11 months ago

Sorry wasnt meant to sound brusque. On my phone and sat on a plane. Yeah I’ll be keeping both Salah and son I have too much value locked up in them both and they’re season keepers for me. I have just been playing around on the transfers page on FPL and I really can’t make 343 happen, unfortunately. I’d have to have 5 4m defenders (or less). What is cool about this juncture in the season is that we will now see greater divergence amongst teams which will make it more interesting. The template will be completely different/non-existent

Please spare me your brief thoughts…?

I’m entertaining transferring out Salah now to facilitate getting TAA in for Tsimikas.
    I have 2 FT 0.1 itb.

Salah ➡️ (Jota, Odegaard, Bowen, Luiz, Foden, Kulu)???

    Petrovic/Areola
    Trippier/Porro/Colwill/Lascelles/Tsimikas
    Salah/Saka/Richarlison/Gordon/Palmer
    Haaland/Watkins/Solanke

I’m very much open to getting rid of all my NEW players.

I will sell Salah because i need money for Haaland but against that Newcastle team he could smash it.Why don't you sell Salah next gw?Also you don't have Son so you don't have to worry for that transfer out.Taa is on fire but your move basically is to sell Sala in order to get Taa.Imo get Taa only if you believe that he will outscore Salah.
