As I had a squad of 15 and all likely to feature this game week, I decided to play my bench boost with this result.
    Raya(1)
    Gabriel(1) TAA(0) Porro(2)
    Foden(12) Son(9) Saka(7) Salah(c)(32)
    Alvarez(7) Watkins(8) Solanke(2)

    Areola(?) Palmer(18) Tarkowski(0) Gusto(0)

My defenders and goalkeepers have amassed a total of 4 points between them with Areola still to play. Clean sheets are becoming increasingly rare!

In terms of my bench boost, Palmer saved the day.

I'd take that in a heart-beat. 18 beats my bench boost in each of the last four seasons easily! I was in a similar position this week, and canvassed opinion, and was told there'd be loads of later opportunities with DGWs to do better. I'd had a similar response a few weeks ago when pondering with full bench. This week I would have got 13 from the bench, which I suspect will beat my eventual score , when I do play it!

I’m inclined to agree. A final 26 points off the bench probably beats most of my previous attempts at a BB.

I am unsure why you decided to bench boost at all with that team? I always do it in a DGW with my team loaded with DGW players. I made the same point about clean sheets and poor returns from my defence this week - 3 points from my 3 defenders. I am lucky in that my keeper is Dubravka but without the pen save that could easily have been a one pointer too.

The reason I decided to play the BB this week was that my entire bench was injury free with players all likely to score points. I am rarely in that position. When it comes to a big DGW I will likely need to use the free hit to load my team with DGW players.

Just think if you had benched Solanke your BB is a colossal failure 😛

That point had occurred to me, but deciding who to bench is always problematic and hindsight is an exact science. In the end, with Areola’s contribution, I’ve made 26 points from the BB.

I am unsure why you would have done that? I suppose you had to use the WC at some point though or lose it and changing other players except for those two wouldn’t have made sense. Even so, great fixtures for both teams

Yup, last night was extra painful as keeping Salah or moving to Bernardo was my very last decision but decided to just make the move so I could roll FT this week and try to be ahead of the game. On the plus side I brought in Foden and Olise but still a tough one with my rank doubling after last night. Have to hope Bowen(C) can fix part of that

Played my WC last week and so my squad is pretty healthy and so could hold Salah until he's back although I'm concerned about more blanks if Liverpool reach the Carabao cup final. 4.8 ITB ready to bring Haaland back.

    A - Sell Salah now for Jota/GroB
    B - A but wait until IB
C - Hold Salah and roll

    Areola
    TAA - Gabriel - Estu
    Bowen - Olise - Richarlison - Palmer
    Alvarez - Watkins - Solanke

    Raya - Salah - Gusto - Konsa

Few dilemmas for next week (have 2 FT):

    A) Keep or sell Darwin? If selling, Haaland in

    B) Salah to Jota or Dias

    C) if only one change above then Mykolenko to Estupi seems obvious move as 2nd transfer

    Team now:

    Dubravka
    Taa Saliba Porro
    Salah** Saka Richa Palmer Bowen
    Watkins Solanke

    Turner Darwin Bell Mykolenko

    My rationale

I’m going for Ricarlison and Bowen to have Spurs and West Ham cover

Foden is good but will have Alvarez/Haaland and with kdb, Doku and Haaland back he may be restricted minutes. If Foden continues I could get rid of Gordon and Trippier to get him in

    What you think?

    Areloa/Dubravka
    TAA, Porro, Gabriel, Liv, Taylor
    Salah, Saka, Palmer, Sterling, Gordon
    Watkins, Alvarez, Solanke

    1 FT 3.4ITB

    Bowen, Foden Seem essential.

    Richarlison/Spurs attacking rep seem desirable

    Is Estupian needed?

Close to taking a -8 to get myself on track

        Out

        Sterling, Salah, gordan/taylor

        in

        Bowen, Foden, Spurs mid/Estupian

I would take -4 for sure.
Move Salah to Bowen and add a defender IMO. Liv and Taylor not great if you have a problem with the other 3.
Maybe Liv to Gusto unless Trips out for a while.
Anyways. don't do it yet. You lose value on Salah every 2 drops only and paying a bit extra for Bowen/Richa won't hurt that much; especially if you want to return to him or Son.

So, feel I'm being greedy, on 82(-4) but my transfers were Trippier & Saka > Trent & Richarlison which is net -3. Had I not made those changes, I'd be 3 points better off AND be getting Doughty off the bench for his 9 pointer. Fine margins! Love this game.

  19. Zenith UK

    Premature I know, but hear me out;
    1FT, 1.1ITB.

    Dubravka
    Trent, Porro, Doughty, Gusto
    Bowen, Richarlison, Gordon, Palmer
    Haaland (c), Watkins (v)

    Kelleher, Gabriel, Salah*, Semenyo*

I'm thinking, Kelleher > Areola (free) for definite. Do not want Dubravka in goal out of form against that City side (even against his form last night - take away his penalty save and then probably his bonus he has 2 points). Then I'm also toying with Gabriel > Estupinan (-4); I've not rated Arsenal for weeks, always said they're like Christmas lights (up at the start of December and coming down in January, bottle jobs).

Would mean my only concern is Haaland being fit, if he isn't, then Gordon (would bench for Estupinan) comes in for him and I play 5-4-1 instead of 5-3-2 for GW21? By the time GW22 comes around I'll have a much better lay of the land re: AFCON & Salah because all of the group stage games are complete before GW22 begins.

On the assumption haaland is back, thinking I need a -4 or -8 or sort this lot out for next week, especially if zinchenko is out. Which do you prefer

    A) salah & darwin > gross & haaland -4 (max price for mid is 6.4)
    B) salah, son & Darwin > jota, Bowen & haaland -8

    Current team
    Areola
    Zinchenko / porro/ TAA / cash
    Palmer / Gordon / Saka
    Watkins / Alvarez / Darwin

    Dubravka / Tosin / salah / son

2FT 8.1ITB, I think I can hold Salah for a little while so I think Son & Hee Chan are the priority here who would you bring in

    Salah paid 12.5
    Son paid 9.3
    Hee Chan paid 5.7

    Rest of team

    Areola, Dubravka
    Livra, Porro, Gabriel, Beyer, Konsa
    Palmer, JWP
    Solanke, Watkins, Alverez

Bowen is the one missing, but arguably you should have him instead of JWP who isn’t doing much. There’s great value in Eze/Olise, Richa/Kulu (though I’d prefer Maddy if fit), Foden looking good. Not sold on Arsenal mids at moment.
Money not too much of an issue as you have 8m in bank and can get to Haaland from Alvarez with less than 7m.

Keep in mind GW 24 is over a month away so all sorts can happen in that time. But still good to have a plan.

I suspect Foden won't be worth it by 24 assuming KDB, Haaland and Doku all back for City will dampen his chances of consistently starting (and through the middle which is where his recent good scores have come from). Add to the fact that Son and Salah could be back by 24 unless they reach the late stages of their respective competitions means I wouldn't look beyond the 22 and 23 moves.

      P.s. what about 21?

I don't know if he is carrying a niggle, but he did have a notably poor game against West Ham. Being charitable, I suspect it's not helping having an unclear role as to whether he is an attacking midfielder or a defender. I did transfer him out, but more on the basis that Biggsy said - Arsenal are not looking convincing. Have Saka and will probably keep for now, but also have Gabriel and am considering moving him on too.

Is it wise to sell Salah and Son now to avoid price drops? Surely his price can’t drop too much cuz we’ll all be buying him back within 3GWs?

It's wise not to have approx. 1/5th of your budget on the bench earning zero points. That should be the concern.

Oh and saying "surely" when it comes to price rises is silly. There is no "surely". Surely Salah shouldn't have dropped quite so soon with almost 2 weeks to the next deadline? Surely Haaland should have dropped more than once in the 3-4 weeks he has been out?

    2. Zenith UK
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Salah already dropped. Go to "transfers" page then "list view" see your buy price vs his current price and calculate whether you can take another 0.1M drop on his current buy price and whether it will affect your sell price. If it won't affect it, no rush.

    Areola, (Pickford)
    TAA, Porro, Gabriel, (Pau, Gusto)
    Saka, Bowen, Foden, Palmer, (Salah)
    Alvarez, Solanke, Watkins

    1FT and £0.5m ITB.

Tempted to hold Salah and roll 2FT into 22 for the likely Salah -> Fodder and Alvarez -> Haaland moves (unless some concrete info that makes it worth a hit for it in 21). Anything else look neccessary?

In free fall here.. Got 2 FT - what to do?

    A) Salah + Son + Tsimikas -> Foden + Palmer + Trent (Now for -4)
    B) Salah + Son + Tsimikas -> Diogo J + Palmer + Trent (Now for -4)
    C) Salah -> Diogo J. (do that now and wait till closer to deadline and see if Haaland gets fit - then do Darwin -> Haaland + Tsimi -> Walker/Ake for -4)

Feel that I need to take the hit - team for next gw is:

    Areola
    Zinch - Gabriel - Porro - Lascelles
    Gordon - Saka - Bowen
    Archer - Darwin - Watkins
    (Dubravka - Son - Salah - Tsimi)

20 penalty box touches for Salah in this game. Is that a record?

People are really in a hurry to make transfers currently. Is it because there are 10 millions players compared to 3 million 10 years ago... but there used to be more patience before doing transfers and influence the prices. For example selling Salah to Bowen when Bowen hasnt even played yet. The last one could get injured or banned but lets do the transfer before the price of Salah goes doen...

Clearly some here don't approve, but there is some merit in protecting TV for post-AFCON. Haven't done it myself since luckily I can afford 0.1 drops on Salah & Son without losing SV, and I want to see how West Ham look without Paqueta & Kudus. But I don't really want to take multiple price drops

Sensible hands would be holding their FTs till Cup games are over. Its not like there will be cash issue when you are dropping Salah/Son.

Sure it would have been sensible to wait. But I for example had even money for the transfers I made. Woulda been 0.1 short if I waited for Salah to drop yesterday.
I got an healthy bench in case something changes. Thats what its fore.

            Salah+nketiah -> foden+haaland
(And yes, I realize Haaland is a questionmark for gw21, but risking it)

You're talking to the walls here, it's totally pointless. Let this muppets do their transfers and be all happy because they saved .2 when money in not even an issue whilst taking hits in thr process. Makes total sense.

With respect El Presidente the difference could quite easily be 0.5m or more. Other players are likely to rise twice and 2 drops each for Son and Salah is quite likely.
When you then consider buying Salah back with Haaland every 0.1m could be crucial.
How many times have we all been 0.1m short of our transfer target?
I for one am not a muppet and have done one early transfer so 0.2 swing already, a second tonight after Bowen has played and that'll be another 0.2m swing.
There are various different ways to play this game and I hope yours is successful for you.

Also my rational thinking suggests to me that a lot of the top players will also be rested for the FA Cup so the risk is mitigated.

There aren’t 10 million players actively playing. Likely less than a million at this stage.

To answer the question it’s to take advantage of price changes but I don’t see it myself

Early thoughts here lads? 1FT 1.3m ITB… who’s the best Salah (and/or Son) replacement?

Also quite fancy Udogie out for Estupiñán, but that can maybe wait.

    Areola (Dubravka)
    Trent Saliba Porro Branthwaite (Udogie)
    Foden Palmer Saka (Salah*** Son***)
    Watkins Solanke Archer

      Bowen for sure.

The second one is more open - Foden or Jota options. Keep an eye on KDB and rotation at LFC though.

Some like Rich, but I am not a fan myself.
More left-field is Olise, but I don't think the team is good enough.
