Anyone thinking they might avoid Salah until after blank gameweek 29?

    22-24 injured
25 may only play 1 game
    26 blank
    27 forest away
    28 city at home
    29 blank

If he is back from afcon it will be hard to avoid him for the double game week

Even if it's only a single gameweek for him? I'm already planning without him. 9 transfers between now and BGW29. not a lot of scope to avoid chip use by taking out blankers in 26+29 to save the FH + TC the more favourable weeks of 34+37.

I'm bench boosting in 25 at present. I want to decimate my bench on wildcard and get as many big hitters in place as possible, probably deploying wildcard in 30.

      Yes

Was potentially looking at just FH25 if Egypt had a deep run, and that was when he was 100% fit. If he's a doubt, I think it's pretty easy to swerve him until 30/31

I'm definitely looking at GW30. Might use my wildcard if other factors come into play.

I expect I'll lose Palmer for 25. I'll want he and Salah back ASAP which is why I can see me wildcarding in 30. 9 gameweeks to plan for at the time, nice quarter of the season.

I thought about selling Palmer 25 but surely at his price and ability we just bench him for city and the blank?

Got some benching headaches this week. Any thoughts?

    Guehi(shu) vs Gabriel(nfo and flagged)

    Palmer(Liv) vs Gordon(avl)

    Please help

Palmer vs Gordon is tough. Newcastle weren't that brilliant today and Gordon did look sluggish. Even though I'm benching Palmer myself, if I had Gordon this week I'd be benching, Newcastle just aren't the same away.

I can't say I know anything about Guehi, Gabriel I expect will play, he didn't look mega injured to me coming off.

Thanks mate. It is a tough one because palmer has the form but the tougher fixture. Gordon the opposite. I might go for palmer as you say

Gabs unless out - pressers may clarify. I think he plays 0 or 90 anyway, so not a problem starting him and Guehi sub

Palmer over Gordon. Newcastle not as good away and Palmer is just in everything for Chelsea. Should be $10m starting price next year based on current role and output.

How on earth could Jota have only had 0.14xG at Bournemouth, one of his goals came from him miskicking a shot and then it fell straight up for him to have an open shot at Neto from about 10 yards out

Think you can carry transfer here. Not sure you would start Porro ahead of Gabriel Estupinan or Trent (assuming all fit) and blanks 26, Saka and Watkins have decent fixtures, KDB and Haaland likely to have limited game time and 2 free transfers into 23 really helpful

Richarlison has the stats and the fixtures.

      Jota the golden child.

KDB only one we know for sure has a DGB but potentially price prohibitive.

Richarlison would probably just edge it because of the flexibility it affords.

Do you rate Spurs upcoming fixtures? This is probably the last GW to bring in Rich, I probably wouldn’t bother after this but there does seem to be some tricky fixtures in the next 4 - although accept 3 of those are at Home…

So Anderson who has played every single minute so far this season drops whilst Palace (albeit in dreadful form) sit right up towards the top of the fixture ticker for the next 10 games.

    Areola - Dubravka
    Trippier* - Saliba - Porro - Cash* - Taylor*
    Saka - Foden - Bowen - Gordon - Palmer
    Watkins - Solanke - Archer*

    1 x FT, 11.9m ITB

    1. Trippier or Cash/Taylor > Estupinan/Other
    2. Consider getting in KdB/Haaland, for who?
    3. Consider getting in Jota/Nunez, for who?
    4. Archer > Toney/Haaland/Nunez

Cash seems like a weakness to deal with eventually but you can just bench him.

Archer also seeing less minutes, again you can just bench, soon you're gonna want those big hitters and unless Saka and Watkins blank again you'd want to keep them if possible.

I would keep your structure, maybe even Cash to Van Hecke to get even more in the pot.

You want Estupinian, Haaland, KDB, Jota, Nunez, maybe Toney and for good reason, they are all going to be very popular.

If you wanna protect yourself, I say play it safe and save transfer. Easy Haaland in next week. Probably for Solanke as Watkins has good fixtures and crucially good match ups in the problematic weeks.

      1. Jafooli
        • 14 Years

Many thanks Greg, very useful summary, much appreciated.

I agree, saving would be good, but the Cash > Estupinan transfer appeals big time, in case a Trippier no show - although not sure if woukd start Estupinan over any others. But my bench is essentially dead....

        1. _Greg
          • 15 Years
          2 years, 1 month ago

I paused my tv show to write that lol.

last week I bought Estupinian for 4.9m

this week I got Jota for 7.8 and KDB for 10.3

next week I'm selling Odegaard for Gordon as Gordon rotates with Wolves players so fantastically until 32. I own Cunha so plan to pkay each one in their home games.

Getting Haaland next week too, probably just after deadline. I'll want him at 13.9. If I miss him at 13.9 I'll wait and see how he gets on with his minutes off the bench vs Burnley.

Current plan is to get Nunez for Watkins in 24. Yes I know he's at home but Nunez has Burnley at home then a double, I want some of that!

Also in 24 I feel like getting Foden 1 week early for Palmer, banish the EO shield warrior!

so it's -4,-4,-4,save in 25 then two Liverpool out in 26 as Spurs won't blank in 29 yet Liverpool more than likely will, they should beat Norwich comfortably, sorry any Norwich fans.

I wonder if Klopp sensed that not only is Alonso the only viable candidate, but if Liverpool don't get him this summer, they'll miss the boat. So it's kind of humble and self-sacrificial of Klopp to step aside a year early.

    Saka & Archer > KdB & Haaland

Would leave 0.6m ITB, is that enough wriggle room to complete for GW23? Or just do one now? For example Arrcher is essentially a busted flush and Haaland may come on vs tired legs Burnley, if I need a bench player for Trippier no show?

Or risk Saka to KdB now....don't think 0.6m is enough until next GW

What you reckon to a Archer > Haaland (few minutes of bench vs tired Burnley, in case of Trippier no show), this GW?

Haaland better than Archer, Cash & Taylor options...

Saka is probably Englands next best after Bellingham. I love the guy but, agreee, maybe not justifying his price with his output. Not his fault. Arteta has clearly instructed him to never leave the edge of the pitch, which is a tragic and unintelligent decision.

For pricing reasons, really think I need to do one of these this GW and the other next, so not to rake a hit - which one this GW:

    1. Archer > Haaland (benched)
    2. Saka > KdB (play)

    Looking for some advice peeps...

KDB and Haaland will be coming into my team (money no issue).

Alvarez > Haaland will probably happen next week.

I don't know which one of these four should come out for KDB. Should I wait till next week and make a double transfer?

    A) Gordon (AVL a)
    B) Bowen (BOU h)
    C) Saka (NFO a)
    D) Palmer (LIV a)

I've had these guys for ages and I hate to lose any of them tbh...

TAA & Trippier flagged and on my bench. Trippier is managing a groin strain - Bayern will lose interest in a January transfer, shirley?

Newcastle have good fixtures GW23 onward so would like to keep Trippier if he's getting 60+ minutes each week, but with 1FT should I replace him with a cheaper Newcastle defender just so I have one fit defender on the bench this week?

[Was saving the FT for Haaland or perhaps KdB if either likely to start]

Rather than start taking money off your bench, have you considered playing your BB before the budget busters return? We have quite similar squads at the moment (same stacked defence here but with Moreno in place of Gabriel) and I'm thinking about BB23

Nope, not here in Finland. Usually these things are problem in development countries. However, we were lucky that last winter wasn't as cold as last. Our newest and biggest nuclear power plant is working now. Soon after the war started we haven't bought any ruzzian electricity. We had one day after long very cold and windless period when electricity price jumped to 40x from normal / average. That was a day when it could have been very tight had there been any major problems.

If Europeans elected the right kind of politicians. You could have reliable coal plants with carbon capture and sequestration.

All proven tech. would lower energy costs by 50% in most nations. Norway is going to do it.

Would lower kW/hr price to $0.12 with about a $0.02 adder for carbon capture and sequestration. Mining companies have used this tech for about 100 years.

Some politicians, it seems, want to make energy complicated and costly.

Not in the USA except in California.

California is run by the Climate people and they love excess regulation in everything.

If the USA adopts Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, then everybody in the USA can have Net Zero without blackouts. Even the Californians will have regular electricity, the Bird Choppers can be torn-down and Whale Killers can be scrapped.

Interestingly, it's Canada that may get the first new generation SMR. We start making their control systems in 2025. Ordering parts in July of 2024. By the way, SMRs are super safe and reliable all the big US Navy surface ships and subs are basically floating SMRs.

I'd side towards Estu here. Maddison's return likely means Porro will no longer have monopoly over set piece duties, which diminishes his appeal somewhat - both in terms of raw points and BPS.

Have not dived into TAA, Pau and Gabriel flag-status due to not owning, but Taylor not an option this GW 😉
You need three defenders so if 2/3 of TAA/Pau/Gabriel will miss out then maybe Pau -> Walker unless you look to go triple city attack in 25?

Estupinan the obvious one, but also need to factor in strategy for GW25, 26, 29 and so on.

I'm likely to use FH in GW29 since I only got TC and FH left. And just build towards strong XI's in 25 and the other DGWs later on so I don't mind have few to none players for 29.

Tricky part is 26, but we need to see if Pool gets a double in 25 otherwise I'm looking good with only Doughty, Porro and Palmer out. Simply playing Taylor and Garnacho that GW with decent fixtures.

Depends if you're comfortable with no Liverpool/Spurs attack or KdB. I know you'd only WC'd last week and left them out (possibly with an eye on GW26 blanks), but their fixtures till then are really good.

        I am (for now).
Got cash to bring in whoever - whenever.
But Liverpool does have Chelsea and Arsenal in the next two so it was my strategy to leave them out (obviously in hindsight I would have liked Jota/Darwin).
KDB/Haaland will get into my team when they start a match or looking likely to be starting going into DGW25.
I'll just ignore Spurs due to the BGW.

I liked having Hwang and personally prefer him, but to be honest, Neto is probably safer pick. Hwang has overperformed and his xG delta is probably not sustainable. But on the other hand, he has looked very clinical. I also prefer goals over assists, more fun. I wouldn't bother to sell Hwang if you have kept him this long, as sideways move as there can be. But if buying, coin toss category.

Leaning towards Hwang over Pedro Neto here. I'd always favour a goalscorer over a creator when they are roughly similar in price.

Regarding Garnacho, have to see if the injury returnees actually improve United before getting him. Still feel he's a bit too raw and inconsistent

Think ARS are going first in GW22, so we might get Gabriel info before the deadline. If nothing emerges, I'd play TAA here as he reportedly trained on Friday and could be in the squad for today's cup game, improving his midweek starting prospects. We'll hopefully know better this evening
