Hey chaps, team for this GW as it stands.

    Dubravka
    VVD - Estupinan - Gabriel
    Foden - Saka - Palmer - KDB
    Watkins - Haaland - Solanke
    ______________________________
    Areola: Branthwaite: Baldock: Hwang*

Open to suggestions, as a bit clueless what move to make this GW. But immediate thoughts are:

    A)Dubravka > Neto
    B) Estu > Senesi/Doughty
    C) KDB > Son
    D) Hwang > D.Luiz/Bailey
    E) Combination for a hit or something else?

    Cheers gents.

      Just realised I can do:

VVD + Hwang > Saliba + Son for exact funds for a hit?
      Unsure though.

Ya reckon? I guess it does mean losing VVD but after next GW fixtures don’t look great along with the blank until 31.
Also it is for a hit.

Just a bit unsure but I am mightily tempted.

Satu could become Senesi for the double and see if he comes through unscathed by avoiding another Yellow card.

Good day all, in a bit of a conundrum. Would you drop luis diaz or foden this gw if you had to choose. LD's form has been good of late and with Salah/Darwin potentially out, I see him taking on a bigger role attacking wise in the team. However, he doesn't really have a high scoring ceiling (usually a goal or an assist).

Whereas for Foden, we all know the form he's been in this season but I feel Man City has been in a bit of a lull with not too many goals (with the exception of FA cup with Luton which one might argue is a sign of good things to come). Just wanted to get your thoughts on who you reckon will heal over the other, thanks!

7 is enough as long as you cover the essentials. You'll have Watkins, Bowen, Porro and a Spurs midfielder, & I'm assuming you'd get Toney & Doughty maybe.
Work towards saving FH but monitor Porro fitness and Taylor form as you go. You can be flexible right up to deadline

Where did I see Bowen? Sorry, misread it.
Advice stands though. Can just about save FH, but Taylor isn't really much of an asset that week

With my 3 FT I'm considering Son, Bowen and Toney as my priorities if I decide not to use the FH in gw29. Then just go in with the 7 players.

If I do use the FH in gw29 I will probably transfer the Bournemouth GK in next week and focus my transfers around the players who have good fixtures either side of GW29.

I’d say 7 is a basic healthy number for 29 if going without FH that week, but my biased opinion is to play FH in 29, just my stance on it.

I’m also considering Hwang > Son, but who would you bench? I’d have an equally tough benching dilemma if I did it haha

    Haaland, Watkins, Solanke

Not sure why you would bring in Salah for Man City game as not playing week after. Maybe I am missing something. If fit for Forest then that would make sense I guess but probably better options currently.

    Boring question time:

Allowing for the fact that hits for keepers are a no go, would you take a hit to do Areola > Neto?
Can cover 29 with Leno, and there's a decent chance Neto repays the hit in 28 alone.

(my FT will be Garnacho > Barkley as a short term punt until WC30/31)

    TY

I need to find time to assess all the chip strategies etc, however right now it seems FH29 is best option for my team.

That in mind, I'm weighing up the potential of doing
    A) KDB, Hwang to Son, Foden for -4
    B) if fit, add Alvarez to Solanke for an additional hit (-8 altogether)

    Thoughts?

    1. Bennerman
      • 7 Years

FH29 for me, clear route forward.

What I would say is that part of the benefit of that is that people not using free hit that week will be using hits between now and then –that's some of the attraction, so would not want to use one myself.

So anyway of doing stuff without a hit, I'd back.

        Fair point to be fair.

My problem is being able to just make one move. If I roll, I have to play either Garnacho or Doughty which isn't great.

If Solanke is fit I could make that move for Alvarez, although I know Alvarez would then brave against Utd, and get Son in next week.

I could do just KDB to Son but again I don't want to be getting rid of City players ahead of that United game, at least if I got Foden in for Hwang it's still providing cover. Plus I'd still have to play either Garnacho or Doughty with that single move.

        1. Bennerman
          • 7 Years
          1 year, 9 months ago

Hmm, tricky. But I'd really try to avoid the hit, it's part of the free hit advantage, which we have to maximise before they use it in a double some time.

          Decide tomorrow!

    Current XV, set up for this week;
    Dubrakva
Van Hecke / Gabriel / Branthwaite
    Richarlison / Palmer / Salah / Saka / KDB
    Watkins / Haaland
Subs: Areola / Doughty / Estu / Archer

Already made my uncomfortable Salah bed, as plan to FH29….

    A) Any more changes this week (assuming subs come in for Salah and Rich)
    B) FH29 unavoidable right?
    C) WC and BB left - assume GW34 onwards?

I hear ya, captaincy can go so many ways this GW, I think Haaland Watkins & Saka all do well, I’d still back Haaland though, the gulf in class between city and United now is just unbelievable

            • 4 Years

Yeah and also coz Saka & Watkins may be the more “obvious” picks coz of their “easier” fixtures I may go Haaland since I’m chasing and my ML leaders go the other 2

For sure, I think Saka & Watkins are actually great captaincy choices, it’s just that fear factor of Haaland, and I need to protect my rank and hold leads, as most will go with Haaland anyway in my ML’s. I mean they just lost to Fulham, imagine what City are going to do at home as well, scary stuff.

I see playing the FH is the preferred option in the poll. It’s such an unappealing game week, what’s the attraction?

Particularly with juicy gameweeks coming up.

    1. Bennerman
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 9 months ago

You don't have to denigrate your team for three weeks or take hits, you maximise that week, and you have loads of time to build to the other doubles anyway.

Plus, I see many are coupling 'no FH' with wildcard the following week. False economy, to me.

      1. Jafalad
        • 15 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

Thanks. Well I have 5 players already for 29 and I don’t think more than 7or 8 are needed. From history, these things always end badly.

Will just save chips to later bounties.

        1. Bennerman
          • 7 Years
          1 year, 9 months ago

I'd be wary of that received wisdom, myself.

When has 7/8 players ever been acceptable? You can lose so so heavily.

Weird how this has just become normal through repetition.

    2. RICICLE
      • 3 Years

Allows you to keep focus on your team outside of blank GW 29, and by the time the future doubles arrive everyone will the main bases covered anyway, especially after WC’ing and having plenty of time to navigate transfers up to the DGW’s.

      1. Jafalad
        • 15 Years

That’s true too but when the big whopping juicy dgwks arrive, we will need a FH.

Or a wildcard? Or a bench boost? Or a few weeks of arranging transfers accordingly?

There's a danger you're imagining a free-hit team where people don't have the players – when in fact, most do have most.

What whooping big juicy DGW’s? Like I say, most people and myself will have a lot of the players you’d FH in anyway.

Have to say Bowen there, Maddison disappointed of late but he could turn things around quickly if fancying the more differential

Evening all, a quick one here, would you start Gordon or Alvarez, bearing in mind I have Haaland and Foden….

Can see the appeal of Alvarez but I’d probs spread some risk and go with Gordon, Wolves only just barely beat SHU and think they could be in for a shock defeat to NEW

If Solanke doesn’t seem like he’d make 28 TC Haaland is tempting vs UTD.
It’s these type of fixtures I can see him absolutely hauling
