Wowsers. With no Palmer or Gusto, my BB basically boils down to Henderson and Zabarnyi, who have got me -1 so far.

I assume I'm the winner of the worst BB in history?

For what it’s worth I was on holidays last week and ended up chatting a Villa season ticket holder who told me everyone on the team will be pushing to set up Watkins and push for that golden boot including the club. His value alone will be gold if he was to get it with no pens. He’s on my wildcard team for sure he’s something to fight for

As a Villa fan I like this thinking, but I don't think we sacrifice anything to get Watkins goals. 4th place still very much the priority. Individually he will be desperate though - you could see it against Bournemouth how desperate he was for a goal, one of his best performances all season

Yea and he was so sharp. I think Bailey wouldn’t have knoecked the ball in at the end only for it was going wide lol. I’d love him to get the golden boot he’s the most improved striker in the league this year imo. He offers more than that tho. His assist potential is huge also

Who is the best Udogie replacement?
I hold Gabriel, Reguilon, Zabarnyi, Burn.

Under $5.0 def can be consider.
Plan to get Krafth because I can see him to play CB when Tripper come back.

    Do you agree?

      No.
Schar & Burn will play CB when Tripp comes back.
They are the only 2 nailed options.

In your position, without knowing the rest of your team, I'd choose Mykolenko or Branthwaite

    Petrovic
    Gusto, Gabriel, Gvardiol
    Foden, Salah, Son, Palmer, Garnacho
    Haaland, Isak,

    Onana, Darwin, Bradley, Branthwaite
    1FT, 0.7 ITB

    A - Salah -> Gordon
    B - Salah, Bradley -> Gordon, Schar (-4)
C - Salah, Gusto, Darwin -> Gordon, Schar, Jackson (-8)

          • 5 Years

Probably A or B then. There is a universe where Chelsea get 3/4 goals against Villa and Spurs though...

        2. Eightball
          • 5 Years

I just don't think a -4 for a defender is worth it. Who would schar be replacing? Gusto I assume? He has a double and assuming he is fit you can assume his floor is likely to be 4. Obviously Chelsea could get smashed again but Villa and spurs aren't Arsenal. He has has the chance of getting an attacking return.

Taking a hit for Schar you would be hoping he scores at least 8 really to pay it back. I know Newcastle have improved recently and SHU are bad but Newcastles defense has been really really bad for quite some time.

Petition to get rid of the chips

They have created such an unfair variance this season.

Please choose to play or not play free hit in 29 depending of the make up of their team a few weeks previously

And those who have held off til 34, including me have benefitted massively

Much prefer first half of the season - just focusing on fixtures etc - no nonsense dgw / chip

Much better without chips. 1 wildcard before Xmas. And one after

Not sure I agree, there is an element that a different way to approach the game in the late season makes it a bit different and fresh rather than the same handful of transfers for 36 weeks interspersed with a WC or two.

I think it'll be interesting next year as the FA cup changes will make doubles a lot rarer and big blank/double weeks practically non-existent.

    3. mwa1t
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 1 day ago

They make things more exciting but can lead to crazy swings which feel unfair. Not sure how I feel about it. I think the fact they make the game more fun wins out.

That said, I'm still reeling over TC Haaland when they beat Bournemouth 6-0 and he came off at half time with nothing...

    4. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 1 day ago

The FA Cup changes will see to it that there will be very few blanks or doubles from now on. But this sounds silly. Make your own decision on what to do and what way to use chips, what weeks to target, etc. The whole game is luck anyway but no point in saying "not everyone did the exact same from each chip so let's get rid". It gives you different ways of playing the game if you're willing to try it

      1. mwa1t
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 1 day ago

Yeah, you could apply the same logic to captaincy really. Leads to big swings but that's the nature of the game

      2. Flynny
        • 11 Years
        2 years, 1 day ago

        The game isn't pure luck

There's plenty of skill involved. If you make sensible moves you are always likely to do reasonably well

The luck determines exactly how well

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
          • 5 Years
          2 years, 1 day ago

What defines sensible, or the significance of likelihood? I WCd in GW30 and went without almost all of the most owned players - Watkins, Solanke, Saka, Haaland, Gabriel/Saliba, Son - and I've done well ever since. I bet none of that looked sensible to anyone that looked at my moves.

I did FH29 and have still managed to gain rank since then and am on a green arrow this week. It was a terrible gameweek sure but not season defining. The strategy was sound it just didn't work out perfect.

Perhaps a balance could be struck by keeping the chips but banning them from double gameweeks.

Don't agree, everyone has an equal chance of hitting the jackpot with their chips, I used FH29, it didn't work out but thats ok, you win some you lose some, but I'm also happy with my score this week without a chip so that helps

I played the old ESPN game. You got a set number of transfers for each half of the season. You could play as many transfers per week as you wanted until you ran out, made for some interesting strategies

I disagree. Current ML leader played his WC in Jan and FH in 29. He’s been ahead since he WCed. I chose the alternate strategy, FH34/WC35, and had to watch him slowly pull away while sticking to my guns. I don’t think I’ll catch him but it makes it very exciting, and both strategies were planned well in advance and aware of the pitfalls/potential. It brings an element of very long term, half season span planning that is much more strategic than it would be without the chips.

Obvious point but only one of them has a double but it’s a nice line up.

I think Ederson might be safest if you can afford him. Looking at Petrovic and Onana too (although I’ll probably go Dalot and don’t want double Utd).

Dubravka if there’s definite news Pope won’t be back (and you’re not maxed out on Newcastle)

I would go porro if he is fit. defenders and keepers are the hardest to pick on wildcard. Trips also an option over schar if he is back fit. A city defender worth it if you can figure out which one plays both games in the double.

      1. g40steve
        • 8 Years

City defence is a turkey shoot, Ake, Walker probably better but not imune.

Porro or VDV doubles but season not good for CS 🙁

Porro is more for extra fixtures and attacking returns. No one bar Arsenal has been good for clean sheets honestly. I'm currently on Walker but that could easily change.

does that mean that you're moving away from 3 players for chelsea? gusto, petrovic, and palmer seem like the other option. i'm certainly of that mindset with tottenham: 2 feels like enough.

Ya i think those would be the 3 Chelsea i go for..with the gk position and Petrovic the number of fixtures actually matter more and they arent a lot of better options..whereas Jackson seems like such a forced pick just to get 3 Chelsea.

It’s pretty much the same as mine give it take a couple of players. I’m just worried it’s too template.

This is my best FH ever! 104 points with Salah(C), TAA, Robbo, Eze, Olise, Mateta, Solanke & Pickford to play!

Nice. 108 with the same (Allison over Pickford) to go. If only I’d gone Havertz over Saka

118 here. Loving the fact that I went against the crowd who free fitted in 29

114 here, despite having 0 pts from Senesi and choosing Robbo over Trent. Extremely difficult to win every decision. 7 + C Eze to go. Had armband all the week on Havertz, but decided to give it to Eze on Saturday. My old OR was 299k, now the first digit has disappeared. Dgw25 derailed my season, Saka and Watkins did huge damage when both Jota and Darwin got injured.

I never really considered FH29 or WC30/31. With Muniz I even managed to get green arrow 29, even though he basically failed to deliver afterwards.

There's some incredible scores out there.. someone in my ML is on 126 pts, decided to cap Odegaard and has Olise and Pickford on the bench for Watkins and Dubravka... wow.

Was surprised to see a lot of people with Jackson in their WC teams. Surely they’ve seen the light after tonight’s performance!?

Ain’t it, think I’d rather get Sterling than Jackson, or maybe even Broja

Think if I was to get another Chelsea asset it would be Gallagher

I think I’m just getting Petrovic and Palmer.

If anything I was encouraged. Agree he couldn’t hit a barn door but he has a Sterlingesque ability to create chances (and similarly miss them). But there were chances. Granted he won’t take those chances very often, but with nearly double the games and a slice of luck, it could work.

Yeah I get that the extra doubles are tempting her the form of Watkins, Isak, Mateta, even Solanke is hard to ignore.

I probably won’t do it (Isak etc was ahead in my options) but at this stage of the season (and given how over half of my forward returns this season have been just 2 points) the extra games and gamble element might tempt me!

Even he can't miss every chance he gets. Even Kyle Walker looked slow when Jackson had the ball. Palmer is great finisher and I expect Jackson to be told to pass the ball to the 2nd wave. It looks like that I will get into top 100k now and can try some upside chasing with Jackson. On his day even a poor finisher at least has chance to haul. Clinical finishers who don't get many chances have less upside.
