Did anyone find it strange that Liverpool Benched Salah and Darwin today? Genuinely strange. Fighting (albeit just barely) to stay in title race. Klopp opts to bench his top two scorers. Already out in all competitions, what is he saving them for? Clearly Salah thought he was ready to play or at least come on earlier.

    Strange.

Not at all. Both wildly out of form, Liverpool were better at Fulham with them benched. Salah is already in Saudi Arabia.

Bro, out of form? Would you bench Hazard, Drogba, Lampard, Rooney? He’s still putting up crazy numbers, up there with the aforementioned.

Form or not, these are players you don’t bench if fully healthy to play.

Not looking too flash for BB37. Neto? Schär* Ait-Nouri* Van Hecke* Salah? Only 2FT between now and then.

Next season I'll play the BB as soon as I see 15 unflagged starters with OK fixtures. Have been trying to get rid of the chip since GW32 but injuries and rotation keeps stalling its deployment.

People have memories like goldfish. The reason Spurs don’t have form is the same reason they have two double GWs; they haven’t been playing! They have everyone back for a few weeks now so should put something together for their last 6 games.

Maybe haaland told them he feels fit but necessarily mean Pep will start him

I'm not on WC so started him & he's 47% EO at my rank of 23K so hoping he starts & smashes it. If fit now this will be his lowest EO rest of season

          Tbf

They've flirted with relegation for ages.

They'd come back out of League One you'd think right away.

Could give them some momentum in a funny way.

But the cash in the Championship is many times greater than the bottom two divisions in the professional pyramid.

Huddersfield need a miracle (Argyle to lose & 15 goal difference swing), and sadly the Hull draw was the worse possible result for Argyle last night they now still have everything to play for against Argyle, and Norwich (who play Birmingham) are now all but secured a play-off spot. I will be watching at Home Park but am fearing that we will drop into the relegation zone for the first time this season when it matters the most.

"Well in England's South West is the county that's best,
full of rolling green hills and a coast that's been blessed,
and inside of the Sound lie the three Plymouth towns,
where everyone's known as a Janner.

Janners, Janner, down in Plymouth we're all known as Janners.

And our own football team Plymouth Argyle supreme,
are the finest this beautiful county has seen,
          every player of every nationality,
when they pull the green they're all Janners.

Janners, Janners, down in Plymouth we're all known as Janners.

          So there was our song,
we didn't keep you too long,
now you all know just one word of West-Country slang,
and while there's meat on me bones,
I hope I'll always be known
as a typical Plymouth grown Janner.

Janners, Janners, down in Plymouth we're all known as Janners.

I know many on here don't like them but it's remarkable that a club from a town in the Pennine Lancashire hills, with a population under 100k can regularly compete in the Premier League and at the highest level.

It's testament to the strength in depth in English and Welsh football.

Can you imagine that happening in Spain, or France, or Italy?

Are there examples in other top European leagues?

    And get that accent...

Another one, different because in the NFL they don't have relegation. Green Bay is a town of 100,000. Their stadium holds 81,000 and is almost full for all games. I suppose it feels such a privilege for that town to have an NFL team, the locals value it and if you don't go it's because you're too old, young, working in bars or restaurants on match day etc.

    On WC (BB in 37):

    A) Maguire
    B) Van Hecke
    C) Dunk (But if I go with him my plan to bring back Saka Salah & Watkins for a -4 in 38 is scuppered).

Already have Dalot. All other slots for the good doubling teams taken. Utd tempts me with two home games but they are dreadful at the back (though Brighton aren't much better).

    Petrovic Ederson
Burn Porro Van de Venn Dalot ?
    Gordon Palmer Son Bruno Foden
    Haaland Isak Jackson

My plan is to play the Newcastle lads against Burnley away, in the DGW BB and then bench them on the last day (Isak will go to either Watkins or possibly Wood as a punt if I want to bring in Salah). I think Jackson and Palmer's final three gameweeks (WHM DGW BOU) are fine for potential attacking returns too. We'll see. It's the defenders I'm struggling with, they really are a bag of sheeeet.

Watkins and Palmer are likely to be the highest two scoring FPL players this season so I wouldm't be surprised if they are double figures, Foden, Son and Saka all 50/50's but if Haaland's price is lower and Salah is no longer in the game preseason squad building shouldn't be any harder than this season.

Pro FPL tip I got from Eggersdorf:

If you want to know if a player will start the next game, look at player ratings from the last game.

    Djordje Petrovic – 5
The Serbian could not do anything for the Cucurella own goal. He could, though, do better for Rogers' strike just before half-time. Petrovic's positioning was not good enough, meaning he was too slow to get down to his near post.

I'd be worried when Sanchez gets over his illness.

I agree. Never buy or start players who you would personally drop if you were the real manager.

Yeah, I bought Vicario over him for this very reason. One bad performance, a howler or two and Sanchez comes in because they’ll have nothing to play for

Could be a cagey low scoring affair.

Gameweek 38 last season, I backed teams that might have to go for broke and go all out attack for multiple goals. Didn't work at all 🙁

I guess. Just because it didn't work last year (with Leeds under Big Sam it was) doesn't mean it won't work this year. Teams may have to push everyone forward and go for goals to prevent relegation.

Jackson to Wood is a move I have been thinking about for next week, using FH in GW37 so it's a 2 game punt but I think could pay off

  30. KeanosMagic
    • 3 Years
    1 year, 7 months ago

What would you do to this team too maximise points in 37? No BB.

Was planning to FH, but if probably want most of the same players so could just save FH for 38?

    Neto Henderson
Gabriel White Gusto Ait Nouri Zabarnyi
    KDB Son Gordon Palmer Foden
    Solanke Darwin Isak

Would have 2FT between now and 37. One would be Haaland in for Solanke, then take a -4 to change GK and Gusto to Porro?

Darwin to Haaland rather? Gusto and GSK to doublers make sense.
