      Tough one

Bruno the bigger differential, and probably the higher ceiling, will probably get 90 mins, but feels like the bigger risk in that man u team.

Isak, less of a differential, form not great, possible minutes risk with Wilson, but if he bangs may do bigger rank damage

    Quick vote please:

    1) Bruno F > Havertz (Bench Gordon, Start Isak)

    2) Gordon > Olise (Play Bruno F, Bench Isak)

OK, I'm stuck. I'm just 10 points behind in my league but I can't figure out how to make up the ground as we're so close. This is me:

    Pickford
    Mitchell Zabarnyi Gabriel
    Son Havertz Foden Palmer KdB
    Jackson Haaland

Kelleher Isak Tosin Lascalles - 1 free transfer

    This is the leaders squad:

    Pickford Turner
    Porro Branthwaite Gvardoil White Saliba
    Johnson Foden Gordon Son Palmer
    Isak Jackson Haaland

I just don't think it can be done......

I assume one FT, although i'm not sure what he'd change anyway. I have 0.6, I believe he has 3.9

Do we think he'll go Gordon > Saka/Havertz?
Then play either 3-4-3 (bench Johnson) or 3-5-2 (bench Isak)?

If he does that, I think your best shot is either KDB > Salah (if you can afford) or if not Eze/Olise

          Then hope for the best!

That's the trouble, I can't see how I get around his bench. If I was him, I'd go to Havertz to remove my differential. I wanted KdB to Salah but I can't afford the jump.

Tempted by Olise, I would have been a little put off by Villa but now they've got 4th, they're not playing for anything....

His got a strong defence with Porro Gvardoil White Saliba fixtures into last game week.

      Possible select Tosin over Zabarnyi

I prefer your midfield - Forward line the same so personal choice.

Keeper - would look to change as I can see Arsenal scoring lots.

Leno (Fulham) / Petrovic (Chelsea) - need to find a clean sheet with possible bonus

Then the deciding thing will be captain choice all good options in your attacking 8,
maybe make an informed choice last min Saturday night

I think I have to change Pickford, for exactly that reason. If I had more cash i'd be tempted by KDB to Salah and then Pickford to Ortega. Maybe I go KdB to Trossard to keep the differential and make the same choice. Trouble is that Tosin is out the door and wont play, so I really need to change Zabarnyi too.

You need some possibly high scoring differentials.

KDB and Isak to Salah and Mateta. Play Mateta over Jackson. Consider captaining Salah.

Trouble is that I've got Pickford in goal against Arsenal and Zabarnyi in defence against Chelsea. Can't really justify two MF/FW transfers, and leave myself so open at the back....

        1. Bartowski
          • 15 Years

No one is guaranteed a clean sheet plus Pickford could get lots of save pts so I don't think that's an essential transfer nor one that's going to bridge the gap. Neither is a defender in that price range.

If you're set on those transfers then you probably need to captain Havertz or Palmer to his Haaland.

I would get Ortega instead of Pickford to cover City CS as I assume he will play Gvardiol ahead of Porro.....I would also chose a differential captain (maybe Foden or Havertz) and hope for the best

So maybe go for Raya....that seems to be a definite CS. West Ham can easily sneak a goal against City and somehow you should be able to cover 4-5 points with this punt

I'm finding this chasing - defending dynamic in GW38 quite fun.

    When chasing:
0-5 points - Play as you normally would.
5-10 points - Make sure you have at least 3 differentials.
10-20 points - Make sure you have at least 3 differentials + captain not Haaland.
20+ points - Get as many differentials as possible (play Burn over Gabriel) + captain not Haaland.

    When defending:
0-5 points - Play as you normally would.
5-10 points - If your opponent has an obvious transfer, try to match it and make lineup choices to reduce variance.
10-20 points - Make lineup choices to reduce variance.
20+ points - Play as you normally would - he needs a miracle.

It's in the 20+ section. You make some -EV choices for as many differentials as possible.

Is it captain against AND transfer out Haaland territory? My opp will captain Haaland, so at 39 points I need a complete fail or bust? Or is it still worth keeping haaland. Other common players are:
          Gabriel
          Son Foden Palmer
          Isak Haaland

I will have Salah (C) to his No Salah

Make as many differentials as possible. But I wouldn't sell Haaland if you're gonna keep another player he has anyway. Like there's no difference if you both have Son + Haaland to sell Haaland and keep Son when you could just sell Son for Salah.

I was down to 1 point behind the leader of the money league last week and I went for another differential with Romero and not Porro.

Despite scoring 133 points I'm now 18 behind.

If I'd kept Gusto + 4 it would have been much closer.

It's a game of fine margins.

yeah im not sure its so simple. This only applies if you only care about one mini league.

I like this. I'm chasing 10 pints category, so borderline on your scale. For me it feels clear to stick with Haaland (c),and then 2 or 3 differentials (without taking hits).

I'm winning my league by 7 points. Gvardiol has been killing me! Do I

Bench Isak. Gvardiol form aside, Newcastle's form away from home is patchy and if Gordon is out (it's looking likely he will be) their primary creative threat on that wing is out with him. Means Isak could be shifted out wide to bring in Wilson down the middle - lots of moving parts there so make it simple, start Gvardiol at home for City who are looking to put the league to bed!

Go with Eze and Olise - They clap and it might be the last time you'll be able to do it!

I want Eze and Olise in my team but, with no Spurs, i'd go for BJ

Spurs aren’t playing well, Palace are on fire and Villa have been in the pub so I’d go for form over fixture

Thanks mate, my initial thoughts too. But Brennan stats really arent that bad at all. Already owning Eze as well for Palace..

    Play one:
    1) Vicario (shu)
    2) Raya (EVE)

    Bench one:
    A) Gabriel (EVE)
    B) Walker (WHU)
    C) Cucurella (BOU)
    D) VDV (shu)

Currently benching both the spurs guys...

    Cheers all

Can't bench Raya, Gab or Walker
Cucurella gets forward, so I'd play him over VDV

I'd bench Vicario and start VDV over Cuc - VDV gets forward a lot and i'd say is less likely to concede at Shu than Cuc against Bournemouth (& Solanke...)

Best season I've ever had and want to hold on to a 6 point lead in one league... but also chasing in a different league and need 26+ points....
Any advice on the following set up? 1 ft, 3.1 itb.

    Dubravka (Pickford)
Gvardial- Gabriel - Porro (Branthwaite - Reguilon)
    Palmer (c) - Gordon - Foden - Havertz (Bruno)
    Jackson - Haaland - Isak

Should I do any or all of the following?
    A) Play Bruno, bench Gordon
    B) Isak to Mateta or Gakpo
    C) Gordon/Bruno to Son, or
    D) Gordon/Bruno to Olise
    E) Captain someone else

    Please help!

I think a combo of CB or preferably CD will exponentially return on your -4.

        Thanks.
I don't especially like the idea of doubling up on Palace players. I believe Mateta will return more than Olise.
Done pretty well by avoiding Son recently too.
        Arrh!

Dubravka is a risk so you could just play Bruno, dub>raya and captain Palmer

Chasing in my mini leagues. (10 points or so) Do I:
    A) Do Ederson->Raya
    B) Play Pickford and do Bruno->Havertz

A won't win it for you, I doubt.

Not sure B will either tbh.

Depends on the others of course.

Havertz or L.Diaz for Gordon? Feel like LIV will score 4-5 goals in Klopp's farewell match and EVE has been good defensively.

KDB and Isak > Salah and bench fodder worth it for a -8? I've got nothing to play for now, and it might be fun to have Salah for Klopp's last game.

    B. Gordon > Olise

Or play it safe with a FT Gordon to Olise?
