Is it really the managers fault, though? The players just miss the foreigners from their teams that make them look better than they actually are.

He sets the tactics and picks the team. They play boring, safe football with no width. It’s 100% his fault.

    Guys, it's ok.
    England completed 348 passes v Slovakia's 83.
    And 75% v 25% possession.

We're the kings of tiki-taka, and won the game playing Pep Guardiola's school of football.

    Let's liven it up.

Bring on Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon.

Knowing Gareth, he'll want to keep fresh legs for extra time..... and keep his dead weight penalty kickers on the field.

Instead of penalty training, get the job done in ninety.

kane should come off for gordon, let bellingham just play where he wants up top and foden inbehind

      Bellingham is shite

Get Watkins on surely. Maybe get palmer or Gordon but both are inexperienced and never played at the top level but risks have to be taken

      1. F4L
        • 11 Years

bellingham is good with his movement and dragging defenders around. foden would love that space created. kane looks half fit and barely able to control the ball.

watkins won't get any space to run inbehind second half. gordon at least provides some natural width on the left and the ability to drop his shoulder and beat a man

Foden is a better no 10 than Bellingham and that is obvious to anyone with half a brain. Once KDB moves on it will be Foden controlling the show at MC but Bellingham for all the potential that he has is a million miles off KDB at this stage of his career, Foden on the other hand is a helluva lot lot closer in terms bringing what KDB does for the team.
Hopefully England can come back here and get through but unless someone twists Southgate's arm fast they will be lucky to go any further

    1. KAPTAIN KANE SERVES THE PAI…
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 22 days ago

Foden is just a different player for club than he is for his country, same goes for most England players.

It’s a shame, especially when you see the opposite for other countries, where their players perform better than at their clubs!

      1. Deulofail
        • 10 Years

lol all the players are different players? Yeah that’s the most logic answer!

          • 9 Years

Most England players play way better for their clubs.

Foden playing for City will take on defenders, for England he passes sideways and looks nowhere near as effective.

Eriksen, Hojbjerg play their hearts out for Denmark, more than for their clubs from what I’ve seen

De Bruyne couldn’t get on the pitch for Chelsea at 21 - Bellingham is up for a Ballon d’Or

      1. jacob1989

Ballon d'or means nothing. Just a popularity contest. Thats why messi won it even when Lewandowski should have few yrs ago

Being the best player in a treble-winning side at 21 means something though.

Also the BDO was cancelled when Lewandowski should have won, Messi has 0 to do with it.

Whatever ,even playing in his worst position here Foden is at least on par with Bellingham. How the hell will you ever know what Foden can bring if you don't put him in his best position.

Keep changing Rice partner. TAA, Gallagher, Mainoo
Need Kalvin Philips to save his a**.

England are playing with 10 having Kane on the field. Invisible and the only thing they’re not doing, he can’t, which is run in behind. Watkins really should be on making diagonal runs in behind asking questions of them.
