Anyone who saw the game able to give a summary of how Liverpool set up today? Or post a link if someone’s already done so. I know Salah was wider than usual. What about Trent and Szob? How did they fit into Slot’s new system? And how did Jota and Diaz positioning compare? TIA.

      I watched the game.
There were a lot of diagonal runs made in behind by Diaz and Salah. Fantastic finishes by Jota and Diaz.
      Salah missed few chances.
      Szobo did okay.
Trent played like deep lying mid at times, playing balls over the top for Salah etc.

        Jota played as the striker.
Diaz out wide left as usual, cutting in.

Ignoring the injuries why is all the noise that Jota isn’t a nailed on first team player?

    Pickford, 4.0
    TAA, Robbo, PedroP, Hall, Barco
    Mo, Saka, Son, Eze, BBD
Isak, Muniz, the mighty Ross Stewart

    Which midfield to start season:
Will wc gw 4 or 6.

    A) Salah - Eze - Hudson Odoi - Kulusveski - Jota

    B) Son - Eze - Jota - Diaz - Gibbs-White

Both teams include Haaland and Gvardiol.

Probably A but imo I’d go with ESR instead of CHO. Toss of a coin between their fixtures but can see ESR getting more G/A. I’m having the same conundrum re Salah or Jota and Diaz… having watched the game today the latter two looked really lively, so they could potentially cover for Salah depending where the extra money goes.

After last friendly matches, I see this as the best solution for me:

    Henderson (4.0)
Andersen - Robinson - Quansah (Mykolenko, Barco)
Salah - Jota - Nkunku - Gibbs White (Smith Rowe)
    Haaland - Isak - Solanke

    Good luck to all! 😉

I don't think Kai is the one. Havertz 8.0m FWD likely to split game time between left 8 and CF.

Arteta on Kai Havertz position: "He needs to be open, with the qualities and versatility that he gives to the team and the numbers that we have in midfield.

"He’s very open to play in both positions and he’s a real threat from both positions."

I expect he'll get the last 30-20 mins at #9 when Jesus does start and that's good enough for me. His xMins are great, he's a much bigger goal threat than Odegaard, and he's 2m cheaper than Saka. I don't see a better way into the Arsenal attack.

Are the fixtures difficult? Wolves and Brighton are great home fixtures. Villa have been awful in preseason and play a high line. Spurs also poor defensively. The first four look very good to me from an attacking perspective.

Diaz is someone who hasn't been on the radar for many even after today's brace. I think he can slightly cover Salah, even without pens. Jota is a brilliant pick but it's a bit of a risk going with him given his injuries and Darwin/Gakpo. I believe Diaz is the undisputed left wing starter for them in 90+% of the games.

    Any opinions on this?

Diaz is a great pick and less likely to have minutes managed. Jota is more likely to get yanked with both Gakpo and Nunez on the bench.

I am going with both Jota and Diaz. £15m for both of them rather than one £12.5m Salah.
You are right, Diaz will be our starter in left fwd position and Jota will be up front. Watch out for Szobo.. he will play number 10.

I think longer term - if we sign Zubi - it could be Zubi and Grav as the pivot with Mac as the 10. I think Grav looks really solid in the DLP role, and Szobo - although he got an assist today - hasn’t looked overly impressive since his injury earlier in the year. I actually see Szobo as a long term cover for Salah on the right unless he drastically improves, but could be wrong.

Could be a great pick but don't think we can say his minutes are safer than Jota's until we see how Slot wants to use Gakpo. Not out of the question that Gakpo takes the LW spot.

The fear with Salah has always been going against the captaincy with him, for the first few weeks, he only beats Haaland in GW1 but you could argue Isak at SJP against a promoted team is better than Salah.

Just watched the highlights from today, a lot of effort from him without looking unplayable like he was in the past.

Lavia for Chelsea a good option for fifth midfielder?

    1. Club-De-Belon
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 26 days ago

As a Saints fan. Lavia has a great ability to pick up the ball deep and quickly turn around to progress the ball, even to take on pressing player. But his passes will lead to someone more creative and definitely won't be direct ones to a winger threatening the goal. I do not seem him having a real assist potential unless unless Chelsea will be strong in possession around oppositions box. And regarding his goal threat, it is minimal as well.

So why would you want him for fantasy? Chelsea have so many players he might not be nailed and if you get +0.5 you have actually a few decent attacking options for 5.0

Not a Palace fan but I went with Kamada over Eze as:
      - he was GREAT in Frankfurt
      - I risk 1.5 less on CRY actually not being as good as expec them to be
      - if he doesn't perform I do not feel pressure to sell him (5.5) and Can keep him first on bench with good fixture run
      - Glassner already coached him and should know how to utilize him best

Think he will start the season. After that, he's got a chance of being a very good asset. worth a punt I think.

The main question is whether he performs well enough to start gw2. However, even if that's not guaranteed, he could do damage against tired legs. At 5.0 I can take the risk.

    Henderson
    Saliba Gvardiol Quansah

I have Jota. Diaz hasn't been historically that good.
