Bruno looked unreal today in the free role. On another day, he has a brace with that performance.

He had the 2 best chances of the match and fluffed both, i'd hardly call that unreal

      It’s how you interpret it.

      - he had lots of chances and on another day would have a massive haul. The hauls will come.

      - he had lots of chances and still couldn’t get anything, if he’s not going to return after today, when will he?

Seriously Bruno had a bad game, most days that would have been 2 goals and the rest. Good signs for ahead he won't have bad days like that often

This is why not every player can play false 9 like what Messi did in Pep era.

Good players (but not so exceptional) like Bruno doesnt have enough skill set to deal 1 by 1 with keeper. He usually shoot from some distance like most attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile Messi is a RW who usually play from deep (CM) , CAM and can be a false 9 fluidly. In his early days, Messi even play as a left winger. Talented since young and so Versatile!

I thought he looked alright overall. Similar to Smith Rowe. As a Smith Rowe owner (and Robinson) I'm hoping that Fulham's soft upcoming schedule will translate to points. That's the plan anyway.

Of course as Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Normally there are 5 premier league games on sky/tnt sports in the UK, but in most of the next few game weeks it appears there are only 4. (On the other hand there are 6 in gw1.) It seems broadly speaking as though mnf is what is missing. Anyone know why?

FWIW, "_ould of" as a misspelling of how "_ould've" is pronounced might end up in some dictionaries soon, because of how often it happens on the internet among English speakers of a particular dialect

That's the funny thing with linguistics: always descriptive rather than prescriptive

          https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/whats-worse-than-coulda

Oh wait, it's already in at least one dictionary... Which still warns not to use it

Looked sharp, good on the ball

But i’d expect he loses his spot to Garnacho and becomes the impact sub. Garnacho got the winning assist and should’ve scored right at the end. I also think rashford did just enough to keep his spot, created a couple big chances and looked alright on the ball

Good point about Antony. Even with over 90% of us thinking Garnacho is miles better than Antony, ETH had a dynamic duo in him and Mazraoui at Ajax. Doesn't mean Garnacho can't combine just as well and leave spaces for Mazraoui to get into, but i would be aware of Antony till he leaves (Mazraoui also told about how he looked forward to be playing with Antony again)

Bored at 6:45 am, so here's a run-through of the current plan:

    Pope
    Trent Gvardiol Munoz
    (V)Salah Gordon (C)Foden Eze
    Havertz Isak Solanke
    .
    Virginia Winks Mosquera Johnson

GW2 FT: Jota to (C)Foden, after all pressers. Keep Jota and cap Salah if a flag arises elsewhere

    Roll FTs where possible, until...

GW6: Push triple Newcastle down to maybe just Isak, depending on who's impressing at GK and mid-price midfield

GW6+: Consider Trent to Arsenal. Consider Mosquera to Mazraoui now or in GW8

Nothing else planned. Mostly observing the season for now. Got a watchlist for instant replacements if anybody's flagged or dropped though

    1. Miguel Sanchez
      • 9 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

Say Foden got 15 mins or fewer against Chelsea on Sunday. Do you still go through with this plan?

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        1 year, 6 months ago

        Absolutely

He wasn't injured, so I'm not bothered as long as he gets something for "match sharpness"

Pep even rushed Doku to a start due to Grealish's knock, so I think they're good to go after two weeks of full team training (by GW2)

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years

KDB only got 5 minutes or so in the Shield, yet Pep didn't mention him among those who'll get limited minutes vs Chelsea

            • 7 Years

I have Jota. The plan is Jota to Foden with my GW2 FT after all pressers, hence a look at how it'll be if I go ahead with that. I have a line there explaining it

It's a run-through of the current plan, not a look at my current squad

    3. Fellaini's Fro
      • 12 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

      Thanks for sharing
Foden (c) in GW2 seems a smart play as many will have started without. Might have to consider the same as I have no city attack
Think Aston Villa maybe putting their hands up for your FTs come gw3

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        1 year, 6 months ago

Yeah, Foden's price made this team possible for me. I expect a drop from that 18.4% ownership after he's benched tomorrow, so maybe a slight advantage there too. Not expecting him to outscore Haaland, but I like his output in the role Pep gave him last season

I want to monitor Villa for a few GWs, yeah. the 4.0 RB really, really tempted me over Mosquera... But in the end, I went for two 4.0s expected to be nailed, rather than the upside of Barco and/or Nedeljković. I'll need a few GWs to be sure of any nailed starters in their attack, outside Watkins. Maatsen could be an easy replacement for Munoz, if needed. Watkins is accessible via Havertz and Isak, I think

        1. Fellaini's Fro
          • 12 Years
          1 year, 6 months ago

Yeah really didn't consider this Foden move (wanted to roll and swap him for Son come GW3) but I have 1m itb and Odegaard, so if Ipswich at home gets too scary that's a decent option.
Absolutely he could outscore Haaland if the defence is set up right
Still think it might take a few for the England boys to start firing but wait and see

Yep Maatsen could be gold in that LB role. Pretty keen on Bailey too

Best of luck dodging the robot bullets!

Then again, wouldn’t it be the most Pep thing to do by benching Haaland against Ipswich?
Perhaps even with Foden as a false 9?

While the 4.5 defenders make sense in a boring way.. for 0.5 more I am actually excited to see my attacking wingback munoz play today!

And on a sidenote minteh is the other player I'm super excited about watching today.

Jota is my Free Hit-like asset, so I've got hopes riding high there

I'm also curious to see how many cut-backs Arsenal's wide players make to the edge of the box, creating many chances for box-crashers. It's a tweak Arteta has made in preseason

Will Wolves attack click into gear like they did last season? Everyone's fit, although they lost Neto

...and what on this pale blue dot of a planet is going on at Leicester?

I upgraded Saka to Salah and swapped jota for minteh near the end. Surprisingly ive got a sense of dread watching that pool match since im expecting Salah to get a 3 pointer and jota double digits now lol

From what I've seen in preseason, Salah will be his usual self in this system

Diaz scored two from the other wing in the last friendly, and Salah had 3 nice shots, iirc

I'm being very patient with the 5.5 mid and 6.0 fwd pool. Waiting to see who emerges before jumping in. My team's more focused on known assets

          But then, no Haaland

Minteh's mint, though. Should be a fun watch, like when Mitoma emerged

I'm hoping we ve stumbled across a 7 or so output mid disguized as a 5.5 mid. Risky.. but an unbelievable amount of fun. If he flops il swap Porro for 4.5 manutd and free up cash for minteh to garnacho by gw 4

Same, I really wanted to get Kamada in a 5.5 mid I think will do well working once again under Glasner, but needed a 4.5 mid for initial selection, being patient and watching how he other 5.5 does.

      2. Eze Really?

Exactly the same. Jota is both cover for Salah with a high ceiling. I would love Martinelli but Jota has more chance of minutes. Both have a similar ceiling when minutes are the same. You right about Wolves. We are fortunate the fixtures keep us away so we can find out. Cunha can shine. Foxes in deep shiixt.

I spent 2 weeks carefully planning my 5 x 4.5 rotating defenders only to sell them all yesterday for Trent, Porro and Zinchenko 😆

I did miss out on my 7 Martinez points but like you say in general the 4.5’s are mostly boring picks and the 5.0+ offer more.

Minteh could be a gem. I saw him last season at Feyenoord so decided to wait and see, his end product was kind of lacking over there. Not clinical enough in my eyes, let alone at higher standards of the PL. Then again, he has got pace, creativity and great workrate, so he might end up getting lots of assists and some easy goals. Also, on the longer term, i think Mazraoui and Robinson both could turn into very exciting 4.5's. Attacking and with better fixtures both will be in my team at one point i bet.

Minteh is one of my punts. Hoping for good things today, if he plays. Brighton have several players who can play that position so a bit anxious he might end up on the bench. Should start tho.

Imo will be the first name on the team sheet from now on in(post his Copa America introduction). Their main attacking threat and a snip at 6.5. If minteh or nkunku look meh il be going back to the comfort of garnacho(owned him for almost all his 28 or so starts last season)

I hope Zirkzee starts soon, so Bruno can return to creating chances for the front three. Mount didn't do much in that regard, I think

    Solanke, Isak

The first set of scout notes for the new season and they are excellent. Although I would have liked a paragraph on how the new bps rules played out in practice in this game.

Ten Hag said "consistent back four" twice in that extract.

With an xCG of less than 0.5 I'm very interested in the United defence. But who is the first choice back 4?

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years

xGC of 0.5 vs Fulham is hardly anything to cheer about.

I think back 4 by IB will be Maz, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    2. Ze_Austin

Dalot / Maz nailed until Shaw returns. Then if Shaw can stay fit (big if) you’d assume he keeps LB and RB is up for grabs between Dalot & Maz

Thanks man. If United can return to the United of 2 seasons ago, there's a lot of value in their defence. I was looking at Martinez yesterday but he literally had zero goal threat last season, but maybe his baseline bps can make up for it.

Martinez should be nailed. Don't know about the rest. He has no goal threat though.

One player I sold yesterday who I wish I never is Gibbs-White, such a nice fixture run and could do very well. I had Barco, Mosquera and Harwood-Bellis at the time though, someone had to make way.

Was MGW + Solanke or Gordon + Wood.

Gone the latter, as my olan is WC around gw6. Think Gordon outscores Solanke early.

Last night put to bed the false claims that Fulham are a bogey team for Man Utd.
Man Utd have won 5 of the last 6 meetings, proving that Fulham's 2-1 win last season was nothing more than an anomaly.

Maz could already be the best 4.5, check out his attacking returns on transfermkt. Its roughly 1 in 5 for most the teams he's played for

Kind of feel we may have missed the boat as he's likely to get a rise but fixtures don't appeal. Worth monitoring for sure
