Even if Porro misses GW2, it would be sensible to just let Lewis Hall take his place instead of spending a transfer right?

I think it’s bonkers for balance. Isak will punish people who are weak on belief for him. Fixtures will make very little difference to Isak he’s that good.

I’m thinking of moving nkunku on to one of these two also.

Bilva could be fun, but will be my 3rd city and might complicate getting Foden in sooner or later…

(I have Barco and could move to hall/livramento too, but think I’ll hold)

Isak - no, will get injured at some stage and Newcastle without Trippier will not create enough for him to be a top 2/3 striker in game

Watkins - no, CL, overachieved last year, would say he is overpriced

Havertz - yes, i reckon he will be 2nd highest striker after haaland

Jota - would be if he played 38 games but wont , so no

Foden - hard to tell, depends on role in the new system

      Underpriced gems:

Saka - will be top scoring mid and possible top scoring overall player
Leif Davis : top scoring 4,5mil player
      Rogers - best under 5.5mil - 6.0 mil midfielder
      Havertz - as above
      Eze

      1. _Greg
        • 16 Years
        2 years, 10 days ago

Leif Davis looks a player doesn't he. Kieran McKenna kept him quiet from Man Utd!

The temptation to do Son to Saka is there but would have to be a double move losing Gabriel or Raya, I can't justify that owning Havertz.

If Son underperforms this weekend I will sell for Eze.

No - you can’t just be making transfers trying to optimise for 1 gameweek.

I think Hall is nailed for the long term. You’ve already got rotation risk Quansah, don’t add Lewis to it too. You think Walker will never play again?

Yes Lewis is probably better than Hall for GW2 but you can’t play week to week unless you are planning to WC very very early

Classic wait and see. There are a number of those - Nkunku, Maatsen, Szoboszlai, Garnacho. No one's really emerged yet and announced themselves from that pack. Maybe Havertz? But I'd argue he's just continuing on from last season.

Hmmm have you seen any of Chelsea pre season, Chelsea’s next 5 fixtures or Nkunku’s price?

FPL is not a one week game. People didn’t buy him as they thought he would destroy Man City, they bought him as they thought he’d out score others points per million over first 5+ weeks.

Yes he was a bit of a risk but it’s a bit premature to be writing him off. He’ll break the game if he replicates his RB Leipzig form

      1. Frank Bruno Guimaraes
        • 2 Years

But he's at Chelsea. They were murder last season. Their preseason didnt set the heather on fire - W1 D1 L2, conceding 11 and scoring 8 in 4 games. Whilst Nkunku is clearly quality, he's going to struggle to realise it within the dystopian fantasy he's found himself in.

Palmer has proven he has the personality to leave city and become Chelsea’s main man . He takes pens and set pieces . He doesn’t have to prove anything other than he can go again. Nkunku has everything to prove .

He did. But he did it on his own. Pens helped but them aside, he carried them on his back. I know Nkunku was injured a fair bit, but he needs service whereas Cole services himself.

    LOST on last page

Finding it really hard on not pulling the trigger on my first transfer. Determined to hold out until Friday in case of any injury news though. Planning on bringing either Foden or KDB in. Who do think is most likely to score most? I see Ipswich sitting deep and compact for this fixture and usually when teams do that KDB has been the one to finally open them up but the way Foden finished last season is making me think I should get him in and just keep????

Yes, but surely your bench boost would take priority for the first double game week, so there would have to be a second double, and the mystery chip would have to be pretty bad in a double to warrant not playing it over the TC

Why is this week better than GW9 at home vs Southampton?

We just don't know enough yet imo. I think if we see City hit top gear, and Southampton are looking porous, I might well go in GW9. But I want more data before using the chip and I want to be sure that City/Haaland are in top form.

      1. We Go Again
        • 12 Years

Fair assessment, waiting till GW9 is probably the sensible option. But I really have this gut feeling that Haaland is going to absolutely demolish Ipswich so the temptation is there

I'm surprised not more content creators are using this argument. If you can make a convincing case that this week is better than that one other than 'Haaland might be injured', I think you can go for it.

Had a good GW 1 but not sure what to do for GW2 as I have no City attackers.
    Raya
    Gvardiol, TAA, Robinson
    Saka, Gibbs-White, Eze, Salah
    Solanke, Isak, Muniz

    Turner, White, Winks, Barco

    A) Gibbs-white > Doku/Bsilva??
    B) Or hold Gibbs-White against Southampton and save transfer??

I had a surprisingly good GW1 and I have no City at all, and going to risk going without for GW2. Have made my choice between Salah & H and content to wait and see if Foden reaches the form of last season. May miss big time GW2, but hope others in my team can balance any City damage.:)

Thanks bud, leaning towards doing the same and just save the transfer. Gibbs-white better score me points lol

This is a class article! Never heard of Gruda before. Brightons attacking depth is something

Bring in Foden or KDB? Why?

Be greedy when others are fearful. Go for it. I personally think kdb is better in the short term. Very good differentials with massive ceilings this week.

Might do a FH to get Haaland Salah Foden and Havertz in for a punt, it's a pointless chip anyways with no talks of any dgws

Does the FT still get banked with a FH? Or is that only with the WC this season

FH is definitely not a useless chip and there will be 2 DGW’s this season, where are you getting your information from?

It’s only been GW 1, why would there be any talk of DGW’s yet?

Underwhelming dilemma this week - which 2 to play out of Gordon, ESR and Muniz?

Gordon obviously a more likely lad than the other 2, but I read that his away numbers weren't good last year.

Newcastle collectively were poor away from home. Can’t put Gordon on the bench for either of those. Muniz and Gordon to play for me.

      Gordon record not great away.
      Think ESR.

I have the same dilemma, feels wrong to bench someone against Leicester at home. Think I'm more likely to bench Muniz than ESR because of routes to points, feels risky though

With the lack of DGW’s this season and the TC being the least valuable chip, who’s tempted on going TC Haaland this week?

Imagine the mystery chip allowed you play 2 of the original chips in the same gw. That would do damage

Currently on Gordon but his away record is pants.

I’m on wildcard. How could I improve this:

    Sels Lumley
    TAA Burn Robinson Mosquera Greaves
    Saka Foden Eze Rogers Iroegbunam
    Haaland Isak Solanke

Not going to lie that looks awful. Would love to see original team that needed WC to this. No pool mid. Solanke??

There are at least 6 and possibly 8 in there I wouldnt WC in. Thats a bad GW1 team never mind a GW2 WC.

Someone correct if they think I'm wrong, but if I were to wildcard now I'd be thinking further ahead than you seem to be doing here.

      Which means:
      - ARS defence (Raya as a set-and-forget?)
      - Burn to Hall imo
      - nailed AVL defender in (Konsa?)
      - Having Saka/Foden/Haaland/Isak ties you up - I'd might downgrade Isak to someone like Muniz or Wood or Pedro (who can rotate in) and pray Solanke finds form.
      - upgrade Iroegbunam
      - still leaves you without LIV attack, which I'd say is a problem.

If you got Robinson and not playing at home to Leicester why bother owning

        He's cover.

Other defenders are Porro and Gvardiol. So maybe Porro being out, if he is, will make the decision for me.

I think these will be the template, X remain to be seen

    X
    TAA X X
    Salah Saka Eze Rogers
    Haaland Havertz

    Any other players you reckon?

Isak & Solanke. Clearly the 'template' is not a template, as bandwagons roll through.

I think Newcastle will struggle to create and score enough for Isak to be a top list striker this season

Solanke also will do fine - but not as good as Havertz level in that Arsenal attack
