You can normally ignore the ticker when it comes to Brentford.

              How do you mean?
I meant that Brentford do better against teams that boss possession (generally the better teams) and struggle against teams when they themselves have the ball (generally the weaker teams).
I.e. you can ignore the ticker for them more than any other team.

Yes, but that trend was with Toney starting. Maybe last season was an anomaly, but they scored a bigger portion of their goals in the easier games last season than they did in their Toney seasons

My point here is that Toney seems to be a big factor in Brentford's ticker-twisting trend. Much like Vardy at Leicester

My guess of a reason is that without him, their directness isn't as effective

You could have him from GW3. Spurs is an easy fixture for attacks. City the only bad fixture for a long time.

I'm already having to put out a mad amount of fires in my team:

    Castagne - dropped for Tete?
    Barco - loan
    Palmer - potential injury

    on top of that:

    Nkunku - high rotation risk
Murphy - was unlucky last week but does put some doubt into his position
Johnson - a 4m defender having to come on as a my second sub after Castagne and Barco didn't play

Would I be best getting rid of Barco or Castagne first?

Castagne - assuming he was one of your starting defenders.

Barco's price is locked if he goes on loan, and Murphy will continue to start. The RC for NEW meant that one of the attackers had to be hooked, and it made sense to keep Gordon & Isak on for their pace in counter attacks.

      1. Kante Touch This

Yeah I think thats the right decision, my other option is to hold for another GW, supposedly Castagne will start when they're playing easier teams but don't know how true that is.

Seeming as I don't have a backup I think I'll probs do a straight swap to Robinson and take the L on the transfer

Keep Barco, may as well keep a 4.0 that won't drop if that will be the case.

I wouldn't panic yet. Nkunku could have a decent week, same with murphy.

I would be going Castagne > Someone like Robinson / Livramento. GLGL

    Current team is:-

    Henderson
    TAA, Gvardiol, Robinson
    Salah, Jota, Eze, Murphy
    Haaland (C), Solanke, Muniz

    Slicker, Rogers, Greaves, Harwood-Bellis

    Going forward which is better?
    A) Haaland, Muniz, Rogers
    or
    B) Havertz, Isak, Foden/KDB + 0.5 mil to upgrade Isak to Watkins or Foden/KDB to Saka

Southampton's defence was horrible in the Championship. I don't see how that'll change so quickly in the Premier League... And our only data so far is a game where they played 60+ minutes with an extra man

...and still conceded when trying to play out from the back

Ze Austin, always good to see you here.

I've been trying with Isak to Havertz all week but didn't do it and missed the price rise now.

Keeping Isak probably makes sense though.

I'm wondering if I should move Mykolenko to Robinson instead? Or am I just being itchy trigger finger? Squad probably OK for now. What do you think?

        Henderson (Fodder)
        Porro, Burn, Mykolenko* (Harwood-Bellis, Barco)

          Hi Steve 🙂

I agree that Everton's defensive injury list is a bigger issue than Isak vs Havertz. I was wary of the Fulham defence after watching Bassey try to play out the back in GW1, but they've fixed that immediately with Andersen, and I think a new DM is already there or on the way in too. This makes me agree with switching Myko to Robinson for the attacking threat. Should be a nice hold until GW7

Are you gonna start Rodgers? Only one sub for a keeper but shouldn't need one unless you're gonna rotate them.

Really surprised to see so many people benching Ars defenders like Gabriel/Saliba for Robinson/Hall etc..I am firmly in the start Gabriel corner, not only an elite defence but Villa are woeful at defending set pieces..bottom 5 at defending corners last season plus the amount of joy Soucek got in the first game indicates they are still to fix those issues.

This is kind of why I avoided Arsenal altogether to start the season.

Plenty of people rightly selected Arsenal defenders due to the fact that they are by far the most likely to get clean sheets... Over the course of the season. But if you are looking at the first five weeks, plenty of people would consider benching those assets up to three times. And even then, Brighton can easily, easily score against them.

So managers with Arsenal defenders might end up either benching their expensive assets, or they go into tough fixtures several weeks running worrying about the clean sheet potential.

          Or they WC in GW4!

I hate booking in a specific week to WC, I try to run as long as possible until the team needs it.

For the likes of Pras it's critical. And he's a much better manager than me. But I still won't do it. Which is one of many reasons why I have never have a top 10k season (except for this year because it's our year)

I think this is my first time. Maybe I booked it in last year but all I remember is having to Wc in GW2 due to a raft of freak injuries.

I figured that the ability to save 5FTs and roll them through the WC made an early WC more viable/valuable. Otherwise, I am usually trying to eke it out longer than everyone else

I picked Raya for this reason, he even managed to get 1 bonus point for 3 saves v Wolves.

Always the potential of a clean sheet for Arsenal v any team. They even kept a clean sheet v Man City last year.

Even if Raya does concede, I expect him to make enough saves to almost fully compensate for loss of a clean sheet.

Counterpoint! Is Arsenal conceding three shots, and 0.47xG, at home, to lowly Wolves, a good thing or an indicator that clean sheets will not be forthcoming against any functional attack?

OK I get that 0.47xG is not crazy high, but that's Arsenal conceding to Wolves, at home, in nearly half the games if the simulation were to be run ten times.

Fair point, but I look at the amount of clean sheets Arsenal got last season. Over the season it does not lie.

I got the impression from the bits of the Arsenal/Wolves game I saw, that Arsenal got complacent. It was almost too easy for them. Hence the shots Wolves had. But I like the fact they were saved. Means a good keeper as well as a good defence. That is the way I am looking at it. I don't like any of the 4.5 keepers this year. Think more expensive is the way to go especially given the bonus points changes. Clean sheets bread and butter.

Thankyou for your replies Every one!!! My defence is Raya. TAA, Gvardial, Robinson, Konsa and Greaves. So it’s basically Robinson and Konsa vs Munoz and another 4.0 my options

Seriously considering it as the next 2 fixtures are not brilliant - I'm thinking Solanke and Murphy to Muniz and Eze, but only if he's ruled out - even then I'm still not 100%.
Watkins I don't think will repeat last season and with the Champions League coming up he's a wait and see for me.

The closer the deadline gets the more twitchy I get about holding the transfer for GW3...

    GW1 82 pts
    Pope
    TAA/Munoz/Porro
    Saka/Gordon/Jota/Mbeumo/ESR
    Haaland(c)/Isak

    Subs- Jebbison, Johnson, HB.

G2G? Or do I try to capitalise on a stronger fixture this weekend and transfer out Mbeumo (who plays SOU in GW3).

Considering Eze, Szob, B.Silva or any Man City Mid

      Don't shift Mbuemo.

Await Porro news, swap H-B to second sub if that's 1pt Johnson there.

      I’m exactly the same.

Own Mbeumo but mad eze came out of that with no points.

7 shots away from home is crazy and he has pens,

Hold your transfer. That's my decision - other players will emerge and I need to be ready for that. Int break could throw-up issues or people like Watkins, Palmer and Foden could be fully fit by GW4

Magic player.Barca letting him go because of his high wages. Justifiably high I would say. I think City were a lesser team without him last season. He's retired from international football so will be a big boost to City on and off the pitch.

FINALLY thank God, I've found a way in that COVERS ALL TOP TEAMS + INCLUDES MO + HAALAND.

    Man, that was mountain!

    Henderson.
    Robinson. Trent. Lewis.
    Salah. Martinelli. Bernardo. Minteh.
    Haaland. Issak. Solanke.

Yes, it is Lewis, but easy swap to 4.5 after this wd. No eze (can't win em all).

I don't think he's going to be more than just a squad player & from what I recall Gundog plays deeper than Bilva & would avoid him having to be deployed in that deep role.
