Currently on Palmer as not included (as yet) Haaland in my W.C. team. However, if i had both then still probably Palmer.

Palmer could be a great option, though just owning him feels like a decent differential in the context of many ‘engaged’ managers

On W.C. and BIG choice for me seems to be Salah and Watkins with 6.0 defender V Haaland and Jota with 5.0 defender.

    Tis a toughie for sure.

    Any thoughts??

Salah, Watkins, Saliba really does look great. No Haaland obviously comes with risks but it can still work well.

If you give any weight to fixture difficulty then A is the way to go. In the Salah v Haaland match up, the extra point for a clean sheet & goal could also be significant. Like others, no Haaland would scare me, because I think he's more likely to haul every now & then. It's a toughie for sure!

I’ll prefer the Haaland team, with Jota to cover Liverpool attack.
You could even go for a ticking 4.5m defender instead.

He's completely hit and miss. He could get a hat trick one game but then deliver nothing for the next 5 so personally I don't think he's worth it until start to see a little consistency.

Also consider that Toney / Osimhen may well come in before the deadline so he could be a transfer out waiting to happen.

      Honestly just avoid for now

Interesting options at Spurs, but the fixtures and their defensive incapability really off-putting despite them now fully fit:

5.5 Porro - all out attack, but close to Pool/Arse assets that will get 15-20 CSs possibly

5 Romero - beast in the box. Probably the best 5, but likes a card

4.5 VDV - solid for a top 6 side. Konsa's fix is so much better though

      1. Pegboy
        • 15 Years
        1 year, 7 months ago

Agree with all that, apart from the Romero liking a card. From memory, after the mad Chelsea game last year, he only picked up a couple the rest of the year. He's adapted his game and is far less rash than he used to be.

I don't see us keeping many clean sheets at all though, so I'm on Porro for attacking returns.

A good attacker will still get returns even in a 1-3 or 2-4 defeat. Gordon is quality. We know what Bowen can do. Semenyo also has potential, filling some of the attacking deficit since Solanke left. Fixture difficulty only predicting a teams chances of winning a game. Individual players could still shine, like Grealish for Villa or Palmer last season.

          1. boroie
            • 7 Years

Completely agree… he will definitely get the odd goal here and theee. But I’d like more potential for hauls. And I just don’t see many hauls in those fixtures for Bowen. Also don’t like putting in a player whose next fixture is Man City.

Having said that, I’m not convinced on anyone on my list right now.

Scouring the fan's forums and this is my perception of their perceptions...

    AVL - Nedel

Nedel is a mixed bag in terms of what fans feel. Pretty much all agree him to be young and promising, but still raw. Many refer to being caught out by the two Arsenal goals after coming on for Cash. I still favour a promoted 4.0 I think (set and forget), but still tempting for these next 4 as the 11th man enabler (Rogers as 10th also frees up incredible funds)

    MCI - Lewis

Meanwhile, Rico Lewis is being raved about on the Citeh forums. Interesting that when Gundogan came on, he came on for Doku incidentally. Now we've been here a lot with cheap Citeh players; some have been incredible and some have been a headache. At only 4.5, this looks worth a roll of the dice to me

Importantly, from the highlights and the forums, Lewis was playing everywhere. He's threatening to be this year's bespoke Citeh defender. I understand of people think I'm deluded/utterly wrong though. I also harbour the same suspicions

    17-18 - Otamendi
    18-19 - Mendy/Laporte
    20-21 - Dias/Stones (plus Gundo emerged)
    21-22 - Cancelo
22-23 - Cancelo at the beginning
    23-24 - Gvardiol

unless he has a special role, he will be rotated. Could still be worth it goven how attacking he is

Less than 10 starts in each of the last 2 seasons, but that's why he's so cheap

during which he should be pretty attacking. A lot of other 4 - 4.5s are only getting 1 point a game anyhow as they lose a point for every second they concede of course, but yes, this could be a trap covered in honey

Walker is club captain so has to play at some point , could be 30min from the bench to start with or the first 60min with Lewis from the bench which makes him a risky pick as even good backup won't help in that case

Wouldn't be first time a club captain doesn't get picked to play

Probably not… one bad game and we won’t see him for weeks. He’s a transfer waiting to happen. Like Quansah was… like Hall was… like Nkunku was…

I genuinely never believed in those bagonwheels

Hall, yes there was a phase during PS, but then dug into the Magpie forums and looked at how Livramento/Burn often was favoured ahead of him last season despite his left sidedness

The other two I was never convinced. Konate (and possibly Gomez) was never going to remain on the bench forever and we didn't know Pool's capabilities then (Konate was also simply late back to PS)

Nkunku - Bundesliga imports make me wary at this point

Now the parallels between Konate/Walker and Lewis/Quansah are worth considering. If Lewis was playing a far more conventional role then perhaps I'd be less risk averse

He had 2 goals and 1 assist after 19 game weeks last season. I'm giving him 1-2 more game weeks to do something. Had 8 shots 7 key passes against Sheffield United last season. Was all fart, no poo for ages.

This is my problem with Eze. Started with him last season and held onto him far too long. Seems like this season may be a repeat. Especially given that Palace team is beginning to look weaker and weaker.

    A. Soucek ( mci h)
    B. Pedro ( ars a)

City always seem to concede at least on per game and Soucek has been really advanced this season.

    Any love for Semenyo?

He has 4 great fixtures in the next 5, facing 4 week defences (Chelsea had a XCG of 1.91 vs Wolves).

    eve
    CHE
    liv
    SOU
    lei

Semenyo is 5th in penalty touches with 16.
1st for total shots from midfielders with 12.
2nd for Shots in the box with 7.

He has 1 goal and 1 assist so far and has played 90 minutes in both games. Considering him on WC as a cheap enabler to rotate with Wissa and Pedro.

Great pick for the next few. Would have got him over Soucek if I had the extra 0.5m

Had him GW1, started him GW2. Evanilson will impact his returns but very good for a 5.5m mid.

Evanilson played 71 minutes with Semenyo, and he still got an assist. Do you think he might lose minutes going forward?

Rating out of 10 for my current team? Planning a GW 6 / 7 WC and would like to save transfers from next week until then if I can.

    Raya
    Gvardiol / Robinson / Pau
    Salah / Jota / Rogers / ESR
    Haaland / Watkins / Isak

    Vladimarsson / Sangare / Harwood-Bellis / Faes

No Ars, no Palmer, an expensive defender whose attacking opportunities have been lessened. 7/10 for me.

        some fair points.

Have arsenal defence, just not attacking. Risky but with the fixtures I think it's an ok play
Palmer - Fair. Would love to have him but just can't fit him in
Gvardiol - True, but not worth a transfer at this point plus seems the most nailed in the City defence. Leiws seems too risky.

        Appreciate the thoughts

look at 4 and 5. I'd favour TAA, but could go either way

TAA has history of 180-200 point seasons. Havertz got 180 last year, but was a mid

      Nice Threemium draft.

I'm not convinced on Soucek, plus not sure you need double Arsenal attack at this point. However they will be nice in a few weeks time if you prefer to do it now and save the transfers.

Soucek seems the best in that price range after rogers. He seems to get the points somehow, plus need someone to rotate with rogers, esr and pedro

Good balance for a Haaland Salah team. Defence is a bit weak. How would it look if you downgraded Robertson, get a 4.5m mid and spread the cash in defence?

Could do robbo > Konate, just not sure how nailed Konate is.

See a lot of “experts” clamouring to move Haaland out to make way of Salah but I’m also seeing Jota and Luis Diaz costing £5m less than Salah but both with a higher XGi over the first two weeks. Someone make it make sense…

    1. Skalla
      • 9 Years
      1 year, 7 months ago

Also started with Jota/Diaz instead as they could match Salah at the start for 5m cheaper but now with Gakpo/Nunez up and running and Euro games starting soon, Salah/TAA becomes the only safe picks in that team
