Agreed with the comment about wasted transfers. It’s your more expensive players that you are relying on for returns far more than your cheap players. So transfers are more effectively spent trying to get the correct mid priced or expensive players

    a) Son, Saka & Hall -> Salah, Minteh & Robertson -4

    b) means going without Liverpool defence.

Also, i will be wildcarding in GW6. Thanks !

If you WC now having Isak and no Arsenal isn't a good idea. You need at least 1. That why I will keep Raya all season. Then you can decide double defence or double attack. Saka and or Havertz

Do If still have Havertz over Isak and swap Salah back to Saka GW6/7

Brentford have great fixtures, Arsenal have a short burst of great fixtures but then it swings again. City have great fixtures. Fulham and Villas good run starts to tail off. But I’m personally looking at GW12 if I can possibly hold out.

    B. Saka + Havertz/Saka > Salah + fodder -4 (and play Harwood-Bellis..)

Haaland and Salah have had amazing starts but do people seriously think they are going to be scoring 17 points every week going forward?

If they both revert to say more average scores of 9 points each per game, owning both of them and then a load of enablers around is going to fall flat when one or both of them have an off day.

    1. fusen
      • 14 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

Like most scenarios in FPL, the time to own both of them was GW1 till now, give it a couple of weeks and those owning both would probably do well to revert to one of them and spread the funds around.

I genuinely feel Haaland scores more than a goal a game this season. And with the new bonus points that favor forwards, I think double digits almost every week is feasible.

      1. Enzology
        • 1 Year
        1 year, 6 months ago

And I can see Salah nudging 30 goals. He's 'only' got a goal a game but his assists are adding up too.

    3. Enzology
      • 1 Year
      1 year, 6 months ago

Of course no one expects that, but they are the two players who you know can or will get 15-20 points on a number of occasions this season, Palmer is another possibly.

Then you factor in that in any given week maybe 80% of players will captain one or the other and it skews the odds.

I'm happier now I have both put it that way.

Having Haaland and Saka from the start and just doing -4 yesterday Saka to Salah I think early on 2 premiums max is way to go. I have 72 73 93 no chips played. 372k before -4 hit which essentially takes me down to 500k but still a good early rank based on previous good seasons. I don't want to look back and calculate what starting with Salah instead of Saka and 6m odd striker instead of Isak would see me ranked as think would be very high

      1. Enzology
        • 1 Year
        1 year, 6 months ago

I was very close to putting Haaland in for GW2, would have been an 8pt hit.

Think it only cost me 6-10 pts as Salah was my captain every time.

There is no definitive answer, Haaland could blank or get injured, same goes for anyone.

But there are some teams who I can't see scoring huge amounts.

        City and Liverpool I can.

I think this a bit of a false comparison as it implicitly assumes the alternative players don’t also have off days.

Salah and Haaland are priced as they are because they can megahaul AND are more consistent.

It’s not that the other 9 players are all enablers, it’s typically just on less premium. As an example Salah + Jota / Diaz / Mbeumbo is the same price as Palmer and Saka.

I agree that there’ll be points in the season where one of them at least isn’t worth it, but it’s probably not a risk worth taking, at least now as it’s impossible to know when that point will be and it could massively hurt your rank while you wait for it.

Long term I'm picking one (Salah) and spreading the funds. Just the way I want to play the game this season.

At the end of the day it's a game with no prizes and I've got no issue watching Haaland bang hattricks every week. It's the week he gets 4 or 5 goals that will really hurt.

Speaking of Transfers. Under the new rules (as I read them). If you use a Wildcard or FreeHit chip you retain your existing free transfers and they get added to the next game week (up to a maximum of 5).

So I used my wilcard very successfully (103 points, gain of 0.5 value and just over 10,000 the this game week) but looking at GW 4 I still only have one free transfer?

So you mean identically in every way to every other season and: not specifically called out in any of the new rules that I can see; or should I correctly assume that is it the PLFF usual assumption by omission.

"If you do not use your free transfer, you are able to make an additional free transfer the following Gameweek..."

"Please note that when playing either a Wildcard or your Free Hit chip, any saved free transfers are maintained for the following Gameweek. If you had 2 saved free transfers, you will still have 2 saved free transfers the Gameweek after playing the chip."

In fact it specifically doesn't state somthing along the lines of "This applies to 2, 3 or 4 free transfers saved giving a maximum of 5 the following gameweek. However, PLEASE NOTE, this doesn't apply to 1 free transfer, this will NOT be carried over".

It would cost you a -8 to get him presumably? So I think for now at least you’ve made your decision you need to back it

You already have Salah abd Haaland, why do you need to WC?

      Why wc?

Excluding Mykelenko, there is not much wrong with that team

No. WC should be for than a couple of changes and you can target fixture swing GW6

WC plan time. With the rolling of transfers I think it makes more sense to do it earlier than previous seasons.

    Currently looking at this:

    Raya (Henderson for next two)
    Konate Konsa Robinson (Collins, Harwood-Bellis)
Salah Eze Mitoma Rogers (Mbeumo - ready for GW6+)
    Haaland Isak Pedro
    0.3itb

This gives me great rotation for next 6+ weeks with only using 1 transfer (Isak to Havertz (c) for gw6).
Only downsides for me are lack of Palmer for GW6/7 but can go Salah to Palmer temporarily if really necessary.
Other option is Watkins instead of Isak but the amount of European fixtures worries me.

Thoughts or feedback appreciated. 4.5m defenders can easily be changed.

Id go Havertz now against Spurs and Konate is more of a rotation risk than Watkins on one leg. Or just go Raya and stick to it

Rest of the team looks good. If you want Robertson then go 1m less than mitoma

When are you moving Salah to Saka?
