Is the below worth a -4

    J Murphy > minteh

I would be playing J Murphy, Aina ior
    Solanke otherwise

Is Robertson worth a -4 hit for Johnson? I can’t stretch to get TAA, short 0.5…
    Defense is:
    Lewis Konsa Faes Johnson Robinson

I'd just play Konsa, Lewis & Robinson. A -4 is not needed this week

Is Saka to Salah worth -4 this week? I already own Luis Diaz but feel Salah could really haul this week (and next) Should take the hit or just wait till GW5 and get him with my FT?

Was considering the same. Wait until the next GW and just do it for free. Saka could still get a return against a leaky spurs. Making a -4 a huge risk.

I think I'd rather avoid the -4 and just hold Saka this week. Spurs defence not great, Udogie will be high up the pitch leaving plenty of space in behind, plus Saka got a goal and assist in the same fixture last season

Are hits the most psychologically driven part of fpl? I feel like people feel taking a hit is an admission of error and try and avoid them more than the 4 points themselves warrant.

I made a very poor hit last week to bring in 4m Villa you, it cost me a net 3 points. Hardly a disaster.

        1. Those comments were embargoed so I don’t think they were available until after the match

I think they were as I had been considering until saw them. I didn’t really understand question - other than to say decision to include player can lead to bad outcome. Doesn’t mean decision to bring in player was wrong but if it doesn’t work out I don’t see it as admission of error and happy to take -4 if required

Yea clear my question didn’t translate. My view is that people generally are far too adverse to taking hits and that’s more based on thinking hits signifies an error as opposed to actually assessing the 4 point cost in isolation

            1. Andy_Social
              • 13 Years

I took a hit last week to get Palmer. I think a psychological aspect is that so early in the game, a single hit can cost you a 6-figure fall in rank. It does look bad.

I think hits are justified to fix an obvious problem such as when a player loses their spot or is injured. Players like Solanke, Nkunku and Quansah were issues I had to resolve that required a hit to sort it out. I think there is an art to solving the problem well by bringing in a player that won't become a 'new problem'. In your case, you may be a bit unlucky given the embargo'd quotes but there is something to be said in being completely certain of a players spot in the team before making the move. I should have considered this too when I bought in Armstrong for Solanke. 45 mins on the weekend and a lack of PL pedigree doesn't bode well.

he has only returned in the away fixture so far and blanked in 2 home games. Maybe he is the reverse this season.

I did bench Gordon away many times last year, but it was for a very good player. Personally I don't think Rogers is that.

        Interesting
I don't see a point in using WC right after the international break
Probably folks are trying to accommodate both Haaland and Salah
I might even hold my FT this GW

This is getting annoying, Robinson is so close to his second rise but it’s just not going to happen.

I wonder if the early years has any top 10, everyone wildcarded gameweek 2 2006-2012 sort of time!

The amount of active players who play now by comparison is much greater so I would hasten a guess those top 10 are from the last 8 years or so.

The seven biggest wildcard weeks were all in 2020/21 or later.

Also the second wildcard window could be responsible for some of the top 10.

    Start one:
    A) Semenyo (CHE)
    B) Rogers (EVE)

You can make transfers then activate before deadline to cancel any hits

You are not actually on WC then.

I did the same last season and thought I had clicked the WC, hadn't, -54

I was going to reply to OP that I've seen enough people in mini leagues do this that if I've committed to WC and that's usually beginning of IB that I activate WC as soon as possible

In fairness I do just that, for some reason I thought I had confirmed my WC but I always play FPL on my phone and sometimes things aren't as clear as they may be.

It’s been poor since they stopped counting wildcard transfers in the movement, it’s only purpose now is to stop your squad bleeding value & to restructure, very rare will you make money but you can certainly save money.

Nah not for a bit. Isak and Saka could both easily return this week. If you have Haaland I think you can go without Salah this week and just bring him in next week to captain when Haaland has Arsenal
