    3FT - Suggestions welcome

    Flekken (fabianski)
    Gabriel, Lewis, Porro (milenkovic, greaves)
    Saka, Diaz, Mbeumo, Rogers (mcneil)
    Havertz, Haaland, Solanke

    A) Havertz + Diaz --- Cunha + Son
    B) Havertz + Diaz --- Strand Larsen + Palmer
    C) Havertz + Diaz + Saka --- Wood + Palmer + Foden

Because he's a major doubt, he's too expensive to be on the bench and he has a poor set of fixtures coming up

    Will Foden start v Southampton?

    - Early subs for Bernardo and Gundo suggests likely starts against Southampton, does that leave one spot in centre mid area assuming Bernardo plays there instead of RW (Savio)?
    - Nunes the preferred LW over Foden last night, don't think Pep wants Foden on the wing this season.

Leaves Kovacic/Bernardo/Gundogan/Foden vying for 3 spots

Expecting Foden to start. He’s just played a full 90mins for the first time this season. No reason to bench him imo.

you'd think he'd still play left as Nunes hasn't started a PL match yet this season. He did play well though. Think you are right though Bernardo will be central so i'm tempted to bring in Savio instead of Foden. He should get plenty of minutes with Grealish and Doku out and looked 'busy' in europe midweek.
The big question for me is does De Bruyne come back this week. I'd think he'd rival Foden's chances this week

Be surprised if he was benched but then again they will walk past Saints so he may bench him and keep, give more mins end of the game and keep his fitness building that way

I was really tempted to just write "defenders" tbh.

Nunes at left wing is like a new signing and I'd be shocked if he didn't get rewarded with another start, even with Pep's tampering. Savio had a great game by all accounts too, and seems to have nailed his place in the team, so I think Foden misses out again after another rusty showing.

Didn't see the game last night & BBC/fotmob lineups were conflicting... so Nunes was LW / Foden L8 yeah?

That would actually concern me more, seeing another option out wide. Just don't have much confidence in Foden starting centrally after last week

It's really notable how low scoring the GKs and Defs have been this season.

TAA is the highest scoring defender and he has 43 points. 31 points fewer than Salah. And the same number of points as Maddison, fewer points than Chris Wood even who hasn't managed more than a single return in any game.

GKs wise, other than Sanchez and Onana who both had pens saves, Sels and Raya are top with 37. That's less than an average of 5 points/week.

Should we be pivoting much more towrds super cheap defenses and splurging on premiums like Salah, Palmer, etc?

I think I will sell TAA soon. Think I want all of Salah, Palmer and Saka from GW12.

      Totally agree.
I’ve been on Lewis,Aina,Dunk,Pau and Robinson for about a month now.
This allows me 4 premium attacking slots.
      Currently on Saka,Palmer,Watkins and Haaland.
Saka will become Son this week.
Plan is to bounce around the premium attacking players. Having multiple means you can change your mind as to which one or two have to be moved at any one time.

Bonus factoring in as well, the highest striker has 14, midfielder has 13, whilst defender/GK has only 6. If it carries on playing out this by December, I'd say the answer is yes.

He's more expensive than McNeil who has more points than him.

In any case, positions can't easily be compared because the pricing structure is different.

After the disastrous last week, i decided to use my wildcard this week. I had 4FT before i used my chip. So hopefully that FT will be passed on and I could hopefully have 5Ft on gw12 for all the fixtures swings to target

I went with Sels and fabiankski as my goalies

    For my defenders
    Gw9: vdberg(ips h), konsa (bou h) aitnouri(bha a) bench: konate, mykolenko(have Jimenez in 11 so didn’t want to cancel each other’s points)

    Gw10: konate(bha h) aitnouri(cp h) mykolenko (Southampton a) bench: konsa, vdberg

Gw11: vdberg aitnouri mykolenko bench: konsa konate

    GW

So can I switch Konate to Stones now and based on how city are playing these days, they are aiming for corners/free kicks so stones could be better value if he plays but can’t quite understand pep’s roulette

What do you think Yay or Nay for konate to stones now and change in gw12

Who would you bench and why? For me, it's Salah right now, but I could change my mind, especially if Saka, Calafiori and Timber are all unavailable. I think they could deal with Saliba's absence by tightening up even more, as they can and do in adverse situations. Only conceded 3 goals in 11 PL and CL games this season with 11 players on the pitch, I believe.

    A) Salah (ars)
    B) Foden (SOU)
    C) Mbeumo (IPS)

Quite a clumsy and insensitive exaggeration. He has only once got more than one attacking return in a PL game against Arsenal or Man City since Arteta took over in Dec 2019, and that was 1G 1A in October 2021 against Man City.

How many times have the likes of Rogers, Johnson and Wood returned more than once EVER? Not sure why he needs to score more than once (4 goals in the last 6 meetings btw) to make the cut, and I'm not sure where City factor in?

or "If in doubt, play the fixtures". Good phrases for making quick decisions, but not necessarily good decisions imo.

I'm thinking Rogers too, as he doesn't seem to be racking up the numbers, but in the last two games (incl CL), maybe he' looks closer to getting to big returns. And it's Bournemouth at home.

        1. Camzy

Bournemouth kept a clean sheet against Arsenal. I don't think they're that bad. Rogers seems clear to me as the best bench option but obviously it could backfire.

And no, I don't agree with play the fixtures over the player.

I think fixtures are overly emphasized on a week to week basis. There is high variance on a week to week basis.

Over the season, a player will score more points in green fixtures than red fixtures with a high degree of probability. But in any single given week? It's far less likely to work out which is why I dislike rotating attacking players. I buy attackers for a block of fixtures and they will get that block until their run of fixtures turns unfavorable or their form goes down/another player is showing more promise.

They aren't that bad, but Bournemouth have only won once away from home so far this season, and it was the game Everton let slip a 2 goal lead in the space of five mins.

Villa are also in tremendous form, and are at home. And add to that the Unai factor, Iraola has never beaten him.

Oof. Don't know where to start with this.

Very confusing to me, how you separate probability over the season vs week-to-week.

And I didn't make an argument for "play the fixtures over the player."

Thanks for your opinion on Rogers, that's really what I'm after 🙂

Is there any merit in using a free hit this week. I don’t have Haaland but wouldn’t mind having him for this particular fixture ?

If you think your FH team will score 25-30 points more than your actual team, then of course!

Great to see Massadio Haidara after a long time playing for Brest last night. Had him as a bench fodder when he used to play for Newcastle.

Ideally you'd roll, because using two frees now when I expect you're planning to use WC in 12, seems excessive.
Chelseas next three, including Newcastle, aren't that good, but I get the fomo.
Personally, I'd do Gordon to Buanonotte this week and Saka to Salah next week.

On the TC Haaland debate.. I'm really in doubt to play the chip this week or at a DGW. Possible DGW's for City are 29+33 and 34+36, in which City play Brighton (H) + Everton (A) and Aston Villa (H) + Southampton (A). The latter really catches my attention. But obviously now Haaland is fit, scored a brace in UCL, won't be rotated and The Saints are really bad at the moment. On the other side City misses some key players (KdB) who create chances for Haaland, which led to some blanks. The season is still long and other premium midfielders like Palmer and Salah will also play SOU at home. They can outscore Haaland in this single game. Can't really make up my mind.

What is your opinion on this?

I am on it at the moment.. we will have fewer double game weeks this season, in which BB/FH/Mistery chip might work better and just have a feeling that this is the game where Haaland is back to hattricks. Additionally, he will be close to 180% EO this GW, meaning if you "only" captain, his likely points will be almost irrelevant

I don't think I'll ever bench Gabriel again. You can guess which two games I didn't play him in this season...

Wouldn't really expect him to start tonight after just returning from injury. They rotated extensively for the last UEL game

Double up on Brentford attack seems a bit heavy, no?
