Hard to go without any Arsenal coverage for Ipswich. Saks -> Ode now and Ode -> Bruno in a couple weeks might be my moves.

So let us have a vote on Choices for Saka:

    c) Odegaard
    d) Sarr
    e) Foden
    f) Liverpool player
    g) Other

If I didn't think Liverpool are absolutely going to destroy Leicester I would of gone Sarr. He has all the factors, form fixtures and stats.

Amad is a better own that Bruno, it's 50/50 whether Odegaard starts covering Saka too much doubt, Foden I wouldn't get unless I see Man City play well. His form is directly tied to how functional City are.

Rolling a transfer might be fine now, Saka has already dropped 0.2, may as well wait for more info.

I think they will rest Dominik Szoboszlai, all his returns have come away from home. I'll say front 4 Gakpo Diaz Salah behind Jota. Jota needs minutes, doesn't look match fit but maybe he plays himself into it this game.

I don't think there's a logical reason! We all agree Nunez is the least likely to start because he's the worst player...but it's Leicester. It's a tight turnaround. Gakpo, Jota, Diaz and Nunez could all be 30+60 over the next two, we have absolutely no idea.

This is why managers like Pras have gone for Bruno, it's the dullard pick which could potentially still be the best. Jota, Diaz and Gakpo all have a higher potential upside due to the strengths of Liverpool but way more risky.

    Who would you bench?

    A.) J Pedro (Bre H) - 56%
    B.) Jackson (Ful H) - 52%
    C.) Gordon (Avl H) - 44%

Listed the Anytime Return Odds (Goal or Assist) next to each.

Had planned to bench Pedro, but he has the best fixture and is on pens. Currently benching Gordon, given he has the lowest odds and I also own Isak for Newcastle cover.

    Right call?

    1. GreennRed
      • 14 Years
      1 year, 3 months ago

Not sure. Odds are there to make most money for bookies. Gordon's getting back to a bit of form, plenty of scope for improvement. Pedro not good FPL-wise in last 3. I'd bench him if those 3. Who are your other 5 attackers?

      1. Genji3lade
        • 8 Years
        1 year, 3 months ago

I did initially have J Pedro benched. But Brentford are bad on the road and when you factor in penalties I think it is close. Aston Villa isn't the best fixture either, although I do back Newcastle to win.

The other factor which I shouldn't be considering is the Brighton game is on the 27th, so would be a painful wait should Gordon blank. If I bench Gordon I also still have assets in each team, with Isak and J Pedro both on pens. I don't know, feel really stuck on this decision!

Other attackers aren't worth considering: Bowen, Salah, Palmer, Isak, Bruno.

        1. GreennRed
          • 14 Years
          1 year, 3 months ago

I don't factor in penalties though. Form a better indicator. It's Boxing Day GW so anything could happen. Newcastle could lose and Gordon could do well, or they could score 4 and he'd get nothing. One thing about Bowen though, his form isn't stellar. Saints have Ramsdale back. He kept a cleansheet away to Fulham and Juric coached in Italy so should improve their defence. Not hard to do, they were awful, but he needs to take the soft touch play from the back style out of them if they are to have a smidgen of hope to avoid relegation. Anyways best of luck whoever you go with.

          1. Genji3lade
            • 8 Years
            1 year, 3 months ago

I think penalties should be factored, can have a terrible game but still nab a pen and walk away with 8-9 points. As for Bowen, I captained him vs Wolves 2 weeks ago when the Liverpool game got called off and he got me a goal and assist. Can't bench him vs Southampton, although you may well be right in suggesting it!

Think I have narrowed it down to J Pedro or Gordon, need to decide and go to sleep. Thanks for your help and GL!

              • 16 Years

I have been looking at different predicted line ups to see if anyone thinks Nkunku could feature but they all have Jackson. Suspect he gets 70 mins. And Chelsea can be one of the best attacking teams when they play well.

If you had to play one of J Pedro or Gordon who would you choose if you were also starting Isak?

        1. Amartey Partey
          • 6 Years
          1 year, 3 months ago

Yeah, Jackson should start. It’s a difficult call between the three.

I feel with J Pedro you have to start him at home to Brentford. They ship goals away like Leicester do. He has been so disappointing lately though so he could get 15 points or just 2. I’m selling him after this game.

I prefer Bruno, as Diaz will likely force another transfer which may induce a -4 down the line. Would be reliant on a Diaz haul to make it worthwhile. Bruno on the hand you can hold through to GW29 if you wanted and he has the benefit of pens and set pieces

I'm starting Fabianski ahead of Sels, just keeping it simple and targeting the easier fixture on this occasion. West Ham did keep a CS away to Newcaslte in GW12 so anything is possible!

You responded above about benching Jackson given rotation risk, I saw Nkunku started on 19th December vs Shamrock, winning 5-1 and him getting 2 assists. Then ofc Jackson started on 22nd vs Everton and blanked.

If you had to give a percentage chance of Jackson being benched what would you guess?

Quote from the Standard: "Up front, Christopher Nkunku will be hoping that Maresca decides to rest Nicolas Jackson but the trip to Ipswich on Monday perhaps looks a more likely option for rotation"

        Definitely a chance!

I’ve got Sanchez at home to Fulham who don’t have a good record away to Chelsea so it’s a harder choice. I’d for sure start Fab over Sels though.

I’d say it’s about a 75% chance Jackson starts because it’s the tougher fixture.

Yeh thats a much harder decision.

Bookies favour Sanchez (33%) over Fab (29%)

I would probably go with Sanchez but super close. Fulham couldn't score at home vs Southamptom, so wouldn't be that surprising if they fail to score away at Chelsea!

Thanks for your help and GL!

No problem! Yeah, I usually go with the home team so I’ll stick with Sanchez. Hopefully they both keep a clean.

Start with Jackson on WC or Start with Jesus and then move to Jackson incase of benching this week?

      Start with Jackson.

I'd start with Jesus because he got IPS and if any week, this one he will certainly play. Move to Jackson after that.

Jesus. He should start and could easily haul.

      Jesus.
More likely to start atm and Fulham is a tough fixture.

Best time to wildcard - GW18 or GW19? I'm in dilemma.

My team is passable for GW18, just need Saka replacement for which I have 1FT.

    Is it better to:
    1. WC GW18, target ARS LIV fixtures with 6 players, despite uncertainty on starts etc.
    2. WC GW19, wait for more information and build better squad, but risk forgoing ARS LIV fixtures and risk WC into a midweek with rotation?

I'm 50-50. Logically, I want to WC GW19 but getting FOMO.GW18 and 19 are quite different so it's hard to attack both on same WC.

    Comments/suggestions accepted with thanks.

I'm waiting until 19. Want to find out how Arsenal replace Saka, if Jesus holds his place, what happens with Cunha. Rotation is going to happen, and trying to predict it is a fools errand. I just make sure I have a playable attacker and a playable defender over this busy period and run with it.
It's hard to give specific advice on your situation without seeing the team 🙂

        Thanks! Yes, and same views

        My team is:
        raya
        timber - hall - robinson/aina
salah - saka* - bruno fernandes - palmer
        cunha - isak - pedro

I'm leaning towards saka - martinelli or luis diaz because it is effectively 1GW punt, before finding out more info and WC GW19. Mianly the FOMO of Trent in case he goes berserk v LEI.

I think your team is fine to roll with. Timber, Hall, Aina all in good form. Midfield is fine and Marinelli seems like a decent punt. Isak and Cunha also in form. Good luck! 🙂

I went Ødegaard instead of Saka. Overlooked pick tbh

I thought the same but having had him for the last 4 gameweeks I'm starting to see why 😀

odegaard is my personal favourite player in EPL and will be on set pieces etc and is very logical pick but no returns of late and might play deeper? Or will Rice play in midfield leaving Ode higher up the pitch?
