Time for fpl to change the rules and give 4 points for defenders conceding 1, there just isn’t enough clean sheets anymore.

Otherwise everyone next season will be rocking uber cheap defenses

Trent is closer to a winger for the best team in the land, Gabriel is the biggest goal threat in the league.

Yes downgrade to Haaland, but when they get the occasionally 15point haul, don't be surprised and hold firm.

I think so, Andy did this thing pre season which showed the numbers of clean sheets is drastically decreasing.

So they either reward a clean sheet with more points or give a reward for conceding just once.

A reward for just once? You are having a laugh.
          The reward is the CS.

They’re so rare though the reward is so little compared to goal scorers (since less clean sheets result in more goalscorers).
So the scoring is evidently skewed

So with Trent/Gabriel aside since they’re premium, you are agreeing with me that there’s no point in picking a 5.0-5.5 defender over a 4.0 defender who plays?

Because likelihood both will concede at least 1 every week, with the 4.0 defender conceding more than 1 most weeks

Rather a 4.5 if the 5.5s aren't doing their job.

But in reality the 5.5 will naturally play for a better team who keep more clean sheets, but these days there’s barely any difference.

in addition, a 2nd goal conceded is worth 3 points?

I meant 4 in total in my original post, so 2 appearance points plus 2 for conceding once.

                        So a clean sheet defender - 6

                        Defender conceding once - 4

But in reality the gap should be bigger than 2 so with the original point in mind I think clean sheets should derive more than 4

Maybe 6 for a clean sheets, same as it is as a goal for a defender, that would make defenders more interesting.

So the points difference between conceding once and a clean sheet would be still 4.

Yes, they get more for scoring, so they shouldn't also get 4 points for only conceding 1. Just pick attacking defenders in fpl.

I’m not suggesting they get 4 plus the clean sheets, I’m saying they get 4 points total if played 60+ and concede once.

And they get 6 if player 60+ and keep a clean sheet.

Maybe the gap between conceding 1 or a clean sheet should be greater so say 4 for a clean sheet and 1 extra point for conceding once.

I’m just saying with the amount of goals there are these days, it seems wrong for a defenders to who concedes one to score the same points as a mid or forward who blanks

That’s why forwards cost more money than defenders. You shouldn’t expect clean sheets from teams that aren’t top sides + Everton anyway

            • 9 Years

Yeah I get the pricing difference between defenders and attackers, all I’m suggesting is the points awarded to defenders increases.

You’d see more dynamic team selection and several templates emerging, rather than one

If a team loses 1-0 and the striker gets abosolutely no service whatsover, he gets 2 points, why should the losing defenders get 4?

Because the game has more goals these days, which implies it is harder to defend and easier to score

Could be there's more goals because full backs are so attacking almost as wingers these days Which means they are getting more attacking points anyway.

I don’t think they get anymore these days than they did say 20 years ago, you still had attacking fullbacks.

Defenders were just better or less decent attackers I guess. Either way a chance in the way the game is played indicates the points awarded should also be adjusted.

Yup which makes sense given what I feel about the defender points.

Most teams concede at least one these days, so the gap between conceding 1 as opposed to 2 should be greater than 1 point.

2 week punt of Watkins in Jackson failed. So who next (own Isak & Wood)

Did the ball come off Robinson onto his own bar from the initial Broadhead cross?

Everton and Wolves fans must be very concerned with this result so far

As an Everton fan I have been adamant that they are going down each season and then some how stay up.. this will be the season just as they enter the new stadium. Unless they change manager and play different football as the current state of play is abso shocking

Dyche is the only reason why you don’t have the best stadium in the Champo, let’s be real

Did people genuinely think Fulham would keep a clean sheet?

I am an Ipswich fan and even I thought Fulham CS would be likely as we will take a low scoring draw all day, especially away from home. In fairness, the goal did come from bad mistake.

Agree. Was hoping for a low scoring draw. I do think (as a Town fan) we will have a better 2nd half of the season though and maybe just manage to survive 🙂

Still unlikely they are gonna win this match. Will be surprised if Fulham don’t at least score at some point.

I could see it. Ipswich have something to hold on to, Fulham not exactly prolific

Possibly. McKenna has changed their tactics over the last few weeks and now they play counter attacking like (but not as good as) Forest and Leicester (when they were good). Working so far. Long may it continue.

8 goals against Leicester (5 against their B-team)
          1 pen against Chelsea
2 against the second best team in Greece

Why are some people dismissive of Palace attackers like Eze or Mateta? The upcoming fixtures could be goals galore for them.

They scored more than two goals just once this season. I have Sarr so I hope you’re correct but they don’t look like scoring heaps

4 points in a season is nothing

4 points every week added up is a lot but Robinson is a good asset. Well, an okay one, as Fulham don’t keep clean sheets
