What's your logic with benching Rogers over Sarr? Is it the illness thing? Currently benching Sarr.

It’s a close one for me. I have Eze and Roger’s and playing Eze. Brentford haven’t been great away from home and have had a lot of high scoring open games. That’s my only logic but wouldn’t be surprised to see Roger’s get a return

Fair enough. I think Eze vs Rogers is more clear-cut, compared to Sarr who's had 1A + 0G in last 5.

Also Roger’s played pretty much 90 mins last night and they have big game again on Wednesday to try and get top 8 in Champions League. That could play a part in Rogers minutes

@Mods - has there been a discussion around discouraging Twitter links? Perhaps posters and commenters could be encouraged to use screenshots / BlueSky / xCancel where possible?

Interesting post fella, uptick as not only do I find Musk a detestable & dangerous creature, but the cow towing of all the media-tech moguls to Trump have put me off having anything to do with the US or their socially-controlled media. Uptick to you chap

Cheers mate - a lot of the larger subreddits are considering the same, just a matter of working out the best solution.

        Thread on r/FantasyPL: https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1i6oucq/should_rfantasypl_ban_twitter_links/
        Thread on r/soccer: https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1i770z5/meta_thread_xtwitter_content_on_rsoccer/

xCancel seems like the best solution to me - might even be something that can be implemented on the back-end (wishful thinking) as you simply substitute "x.com" with "xcancel.com" in any Twitter link and it stops Musk getting a click / ad-revenue.

        e.g. https://x.com/FFScout/status/1882365445673570662 becomes https://xcancel.com/FFScout/status/1882365445673570662

I had never heard of xcancel. It seems like a cool idea but it still perpetuates and validates 'the platform formerly known as twitter' as an ecosystem. I think as many people as possible need to be brave and jump to Bluesky. The more people that do it, the easier it is for everyone else and, ultimately, themselves.

Yeah I know what you mean. It's the same with screenshots really - you're still advertising that Twitter is a useful platform and we can't live without its content, even if you're not going directly to the site.

I think article authors should be encouraged to use BlueSky links or link directly to the source (where applicable), but I was thinking XCancel might be useful if site admins are able to implement an auto-replace feature as "backup."

YUP lets just cancel anyone that has an opinion that goes against ours... like they dont exist...

isnt that the thing the west always prides themselves over the rest of the world? the freedom of thought and speech

Unlike the fascism so clearly endorsed by EM, which does take away freedom of expression (e.g. the ability to formally identify as transgender or nonbinary being taken away on literally day one of the Trump presidency) this is not cancellation. Cancellation in this example is shorthand for people standing up for something they believe in.

People taking their custom away from brands they don't like and sending it towards brands they do like is a pretty fundamental tenet of free market economics.

If a clothing manufacturer started using (legal) child labour and people boycotted them, would it be a violation of that company's free speech and free thought? Of course not. In this case, nobody is silencing anyone. If the platform formerly know as Twitter has a robust enough business model to survive when it loses a chunk of its user base, and whoever remains is not worth interacting with because they are all p0rn bots and cryto scammers then good for it. If not, it will fail.

Nobody owes any business the means for it to remain profitable, especially if that business fundamentally completely changes its ethos.

Do you want to take a guess at how many felons in the US will be arrested for gun possession? And then have a guess at how many of them will be prosecuted for doing so?

At the time of Biden's son's prosecution, I heard an interview with a Republican congressman who said the first number was around 10,000. He said, bearing in mind he's a Republican, that the number who'd face prosecution, nationwide, would be around five.

            Probably just a coincidence, right?

Biden also felt it necessary to pre-emptively pardon Fauci. Do you think he's got conspiratorial levels of crimes to hide?

Replacing the links is completely different to removing them. Would you say the same if mods asked people to post relevant news from the The Athletic instead of The Sun for example?

Totally different, there is a clear perception of better sport content in the Athletic rather than the Sun. Here you could argue that due to its scale, X has actually better sport content than competitors.
Removing or replacing is very similar in the sense that you are trying to impact a third party website/app because you do not like its owner. I do not come on FFS for FFS to make this choice for me.

Well, did people stop buying those brands? Not at all.

It’s amusing that people are wanting to boycott Musk because he decided to endorse and support Trump. When the apartheid claims were made against him, people still used and supported Twitter/X .

Plenty of Brits whose memories of WW2 hadn't faded into mush did boycott these brands in the 40s and 50s. Many Jews still won't touch them.

You're really saying thay if you were a consumer in the mid-1940s, knowing what you know, you would happily have bought your car from BMW, your suits from Hugo Boss, your matt emulsion from IG Farben?

As time went on, people have forgotten. It’s not like those brands ceased to exist, right? People kept buying them and taking their business to them.

Musk has done/said some questionable things (depends on how you view them) in the past. People have kept buying his cars and using his services. Supporting Trump made everyone go berserk.

                    Either you're saying people shouldn't have supported these companies, in which case we agree with each other, or;

You're saying that you have no problem with people patronising companies affiliated with the N*zi regime after the war.

The fact that they survived the war and any subsequent boycotts doesn't automatically make them OK. And besides, they only survived due to a combination of the Marshall Plan and, crucially, the money that they had already made as a result of N*zi collaboration.

Dr Oetker is another n*zi company.

Their pizzas are garbage anyway, they are basically crisps with a few herbs dropped on them.

Like it or not, FFS and FPL are heavily invested in twitter for news, content creator platforms etc. Too late to pretend we can just leave politics out of it

This is actually why we should leave politics out of it. The FPL ecosystem will go where it can monetize the most and deliver content to the highest number of people. But people go where they want.

Everything and anything has been labeled n*zi or similar over the last few years, by certain political groupings, and c*mmunist by others; this only herds people into political silos/pens increasing the divide and extr*mism which plays into hands of power seeking to manipulate both sides

Some dont ascribe to a set list of approved beliefs and assess issues on their own merits

Really? I mean, certain posts (like breaking news of an injury) should ideally be backed up by a source, but I don't think anyone is (or should be) enforcing this as twitter only. Do you have any examples?

    15. TallestJohn
      • 8 Years

To people who say "Twitter has become unusable for me, it shows me stuff I don't like," what part of the site are you referring to? I basically only use the Following tab which is pretty close to what it used to be and IIRC better than what it was in the couple of years pre-Musk. I pretty much never use the For You tab. I get too many push notifications for live stuff which could be more relevant but they're all from people I follow.

If FFS itself has a Twitter presence it seems hypocritical to badger people into not posting links to it here. People should of course be free to post relevant BlueSky and xCancel links too.

    My front 3 are:
    Wissa, Wood, Isak

Makes it difficult to bring in Gakpo, so probably doing Bruno/Iwobi>Diaz

Make sense? Or would you get rid of one of my front 3?

I've got same front three and doesn't feel right selling any for Gakpo.

I've got Salah and Trent already and will add Allison for Henderson this week.

I think many prefer Gakpo over Diaz. Gakpo rested midweek and Diaz has the threat of Nunez. I’d probably move Wissa on for the next few game weeks. Have you got Mbuemo?

I've thought about moving Wissa but I'd want him back after next three weeks. So it equates to eight points hit if we say transfers cost 4 points. When I looked at various projection models Gakpo out scores Wissa by around 4 points over next three weeks so can't justify it. But models can be wrong and Gakpo might smash it.

      Phenomenal straw man argument there.

      He (allegedly):
      - had an affair with another woman whilst married, fathering a child with her
      - invited prostitutes to his gaff during lockdown (whilst with the same woman)
      - exposed his todger to a random woman in a nightclub

The only thing "weird and creepy" is your blind defence of someone who is clearly not a particularly good person.

Dunno if being a bit wayward with the ladies makes him 'clearly not a particularly good person'. He looks after all his children, both mothers, has been an excellent professional for both club and country and has plenty to show for a career he has dedicated his life to. No criminal record or alleged crimes. The only people with a right to judge him are his wife, and maybe the kids if they feel aggrieved ...

Interesting that your yardstick for measuring whether someone is a good person or not is whether they have a criminal record. Also, he has an alleged crime on his record it's just that the woman decided not to prosecute. But it's all okay: he's been really good and "professional" for England.

Wolves have conceded 19 goals from defensive set pieces (excluding penalties) this season.

That is seven more than any other side and contributes to them having the worst defence in the Premier League.

    Morning lovely people.

I recently joined a 'dynasty' style fantasy game where you keep players for multiple seasons (which is much better than FPL - if you get the opportunity you should try it)

Does anyone know of any decent Premier League- focused podcasts, which do things like in-depth player profiles and tactical analysis of what those players are likely to bring to the league? Thanks!

    B) Jackson to Gakpo
    C) neither and hold off until next week?

Certainly not C, good entry point this GW for a Liverpool attacker against Ipswich.

    Pick one:

    1. Munoz
    2. Sarr
    3. Bruno
    4. Use FT to replace one of these

      To start?

      Bruno or sell him.

      Any help below...

      Start Bruno or sell

      No need to sell Munoz.

Sarr is a 50-50 could come good in the next few weeks.

I have a similar headache with Sarr included. Currently bench Sarr and playing Pedro & Wood.

I'm playing Mbeumo over Munoz. Not quite the equivalent tho

Ok. DIAZ is painful to own!

    A. Keep Diaz and Pickford

    B. Swap to Amad and Alison (plus 1.3m in the bank)

    C. Swap to another mid (up to £6.9m) and Alison

    Options up to 6.9m:

    Kluivert
    Amad
    Rogers
    Trossard
    Mitoma
    Semenyo
    Elanga
    Kulusevski
    Eze
    Iwobi
    Bruno
    Savinho
    Martinelli

I wouldn't sell either, especially not the Pickford to Alisson move.

I've seen this "ok. Diaz is painful to own" post about 3 times this week, possibly more and you've been getting replies each time.

      Please stop.

Rate the attackers in order over the next 5-7 gws 🙂

    a) Mateta
    b) Wissa
    c) Gakpo
    d) Wood
    e) Cunha
    f) Raul

Am I correct in thinking that if Liverpool get a second double, it will be part of a larger DGW involving more teams?

If so, wouldn't it make more sense to use TC in 24, and save FH and WC/BB for later in order to use these to greater effect in the bigger doubles?

    1. Tonyawesome69
      • 7 Years

Liverpool will have two more DGWs on the assumption they make EFL cup final (move blank 29 to 33) and FAC SF (move blank 34 to 36)

Few close ones, so just gauging opinion:

    A) I have 3 Pool and a planned move for Sarr to Mbuemo next week. Worth bringing forward or waiting?

    B) Who to bench from....
    1) Hall (sou)
    2) Munoz (BRE)
    3) Raul (MUN)##

Have Bruno and Wood too, but obv securer mins/pens etc
