    Gianfranco Zola on MNF is a pleasure, a magician on the football pitch and the epitome of Premier League football in the 90’s. More than that he is always such a gentleman and good person. Makes me think of Gianluca Vialli and Ray Wilkins when Imsee him, two other incredible people greatly missed.

      Ray Wilkins is a blast from the past - I idolised him when he was at QPR (I'm a QPR fan). About 20 years ago I was in a pub in Cobham (the Cricketers I think) and sat at the bar on his own was Ray - we had a chat for about 20 minutes and I can assure you he was 100% a Gentleman and good person.

        That’s a nice story, he did seem like he would make time for anyone. Always great hearing his analysis and the calm, measured and friendly way he spoke. Chelsea, United, QPR, Rangers and Milan. What a legend.

        Yes he was.

        I remember seeing Andy Johnson, in a pub, near where i lived. Was probably annoyed I saw him, was just watching the footy.

        But he remembered me, as It was in about 2002, my best mate's wife brother was in charge of the Lombard Crystal Palace credit card. Used to get 12 tickets in the director's box. Food was still crap. Simon Jordan service. But we'd give MoM. Nearly always Andy Johnson..

        He remembered me 20 years later. Yeah, I remember you, he said. Got to know him a little back then. .We had a long chat and missed our Sunday after TV footy watch. Was generally quite shy.

        He said the best fir is being able to come down to have a drink and not get swamped by fans, but always goes back to Palace to watch games, like Darren Ambrose does and many others in recent times. Often had their best time there (Stepping stone or at the peak of their career).

        Poor Wilkins. Signed for us in 1995. One game, he ended his career against Liverpool on his debut and lost 0-6 at home. Everyone said he was a gent.

      Gianluca Vialli was known as ‘that lovely man, Gianluca Vialli’ in my house back then (by my football-mad mother) on account of his contribution to Everton not being relegated on the last day of the season in 1998.
