Fantasy EFL Double Gameweek 27 is here so we have put together our Scout Picks to provide a clearer image of who we believe are the best players and clubs for this round.

32 of the 72 clubs ‘double’ this Gameweek: 10 from the Championship, 12 from League One and 12 from League Two.

The Gameweek kicked off on Thursday night as Chesterfield beat Doncaster Rovers – but neither club are represented in our Scout Picks.

Any player yet to contest their Gameweek 27 fixture is, of course, free to select.

With huge prizes up for grabs, there’s never been a better time to start playing Fantasy EFLHere’s everything you need to know about the new Fantasy game.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 27 SCOUT PICKS

Goalkeeper

Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper (G) is our set goalkeeper for this Double Gameweek, and we’re expecting a haul. The 25-year-old is having the best season of his career, contributing heavily to Sheffield’s top-three defensive record. Cooper has managed 16 clean sheets in his 28 appearances, recording an impressive 66 saves along the way. Portsmouth (H) is a great fixture, as they have scored just once in their last three games and been struggling offensively all season. Middlesbrough (H) is a tougher challenge but the Blades have been incredible at home with 10 clean sheets from 14 games, conceding only nine goals. Cooper is expected to record at least one clean sheet this Gameweek, with multiple save points also on the cards.

Defenders

Fantasy EFL’s top points scorer Mickey Demetriou (D) is a natural first selection in defence. He has 221 points and counting, hugely bolstered by his incredible defensive work rate. He has the most blocks in the EFL and the second-most clearances, resulting in huge points totals when combined with his ten clean sheets. Newport County (H) and AFC Wimbledon (A) are two solid fixtures for the 34-year-old, with neither side having particularly impressive attacking forces. Regardless, a player as dominant as Demetriou on a Double Gameweek is a given.

Lloyd Jones (D) has been almost as impressive as Demetriou this season, averaging a huge 8.0 Fantasy points per game. He has clean sheets in 11 of his 22 appearances, four goal involvements and a steady flow of defensive contributions. Stevenage (H) average just 1.0 goals per game, whilst Peterborough United (H) have also been struggling lately with only four goals in their last six games. These favourable fixtures create a strong opportunity for Jones to dominate and rack up a huge Fantasy haul at The Valley.

Sunderland’s Dennis Cirkin (D) is another big-name stalwart who has had an exceptional 2024/25 campaign. He averages 6.4 Fantasy points per game due to his combination of 12 clean sheets and impressive contribution numbers. Sunderland face Watford (H) and Luton Town (H) this Gameweek, who have both been underwhelming this season. Coupled with Cirkin’s attacking potential, a haul could be on the cards for the number three.

Midfielders

Emiliano Marcondes (M) has been sensational recently in the absence of Borja Sainz (F), making him the perfect selection for this Gameweek. Marcondes has 43 Fantasy points in his last four games, now sitting on eight goal contributions and 20 interceptions across 22 appearances this season. He has two great fixtures, too. Derby County (H) and Preston North End (H) both struggle defensively, providing a strong opportunity for another Marcondes haul. This Gameweek, the 29-year-old has the chance to record his fourth double-digit performance in five Gameweeks. His 0.3% ownership makes him an even more attractive option, as he is being heavily overlooked by the vast majority.

Moreover, Enzo Le Fee (M) is having a stunning start to his time in Sunderland, recording 27 Fantasy points in his four appearances with the Black Cats. He has six interceptions (+12) already, combining this with two assists to become a highly exciting new option. Neither Watford nor Luton Town have good defensive records, and Le Fee’s creativity could certainly exploit their weaknesses. The 25-year-old has hit the ground running and has shown no signs of slowing down, making this big Double Gameweek a great opportunity to showcase his impact.

Forwards

Josh Sargent (F) has been nothing short of dominant in his return from injury, scoring three goals in his only two starts. The American international now plays Derby and Preston, who have conceded 79 combined. The Canaries could solidify their position as a real promotion contender if they win both Double Gameweek fixtures, and Sargent will play an instrumental role in this. With 12 goal involvements in 16 games and hugely important upcoming fixtures, Sargent is a player we can trust to return. Moreover, with Sainz returning for Preston North End (H), there’s even more reason to back the number nine to get on the scoresheet.

Club Picks

Norwich City have won their last two games, and now face the Rams and the Lilywhites. Derby have lost their last seven league fixtures whilst Preston remain consistently average. The Canaries, meanwhile, have 49 goals in 30 games and are just outside the much-desired play-off zone. They are favoured in both of their Gameweek 27 match-ups, and wins in both would guarantee a haul.

Sheffield United have won four of their last five games and are close to the top spot in the Championship standings. They have the chance to achieve this feat this Gameweek against Portsmouth and Middlesbrough. Pompey have struggled in their first season after promotion and are 20th in the division, whilst the Boro have lost three of their last four games. These are two perfect opportunities for the Blades to dominate and put pressure on league leaders, Leeds United.

Maximum returns will see these two combine for 36 points!

I'm starting to build some WC30 drafts with Haaland and it's incredibly hard.

The tough part is keeping Haaland, Salah, Palmer and having a bench good enough to boost in GW33. A lot will depend on the blanks in 34. When would we find out about those?

Fa cup quarters are before 30 so we'll know

Was doing the same. It's very hard with Isak in there too. Reached the conclusion that it has to be either Palmer or Haaland. With Palmer
u can always get Foden from city

Ah okay I just checked. You'd find out just before GW30.

That makes it tough. Because you'd then only have 2 days to make a WC team taking into account the blank in 34, building a team with an eye on BB33.

I think I'd need more time to do a good job of it, which means GW31 is likely the better time to WC.

33 will be bigger than 36 imo

Might not even have a 36 if Newcastle go out of the cup before semis

He's the ultimate differential though and I've been diligently building TV all season on the off-chance I might want him back. The fixtures are amazing from GW30. It's one of the best times to go for him. But balancing the team and preparing a BB with him in mind is really difficult.

We'll see when the time comes but I'm gonna keep trying to find a solution.

There are some possibilities with a setup like:

        Henderson 4.5
        Gabriel, Hall, 4.5, 4.5, VdB
        Salah Palmer 5.5, 5.5, 5.0
        Haaland Isak Wood

Saka might be back by then just to throw another grenade into the equation. Depends on your rank but I'd be looking at going Haaland over Palmer. Feels like Palmer only ever really hurts if he goes crazy once every 6 weeks or whatever and even then most of the game trusts Mo more to keep the band on him.

I suspect Haaland might not be nearly as differential by then as he is now anyway fwiw.

He will be a differential the rest of the season imo. He's really expensive, and people feel locked into Salah + Palmer.

Any thought to going without Palmer? I'm pretty keen on Haaland & Foden too, but having BBed already helps

Wish I didn't have the stupid BB chip. And yes, ofc I've considered no Palmer. Saka could be a pick tbf by then...

I'm still in two minds about going BB25 to give me some flexibility later. Might depend on injury news on a few players. I'm probably going to FH29 anyway and not having to worry about BB should make the blank in GW34 easier to navigate.

I got rid of Palmer a few weeks ago and so far, no regrets. This was done to get Haaland in as a differential (so far OK, i guess). Back to Palmer though...my best mate is a Leicester and and his prediction with Maresca based on last season was that teams would "find Chelsea out" around half way point of the season and it kind of feels like that has happened. Maybe not as badly as they did with Leicester towards the end of last season, but the results in the Prem since Christmas haven't exactly set the world on fire.

For added context, I'm having a shocker of a season, so happy to take risks and have some fun with the hope that the risks may pay off.

City will only play for the league after Real Madrid so I'd also have City attackers in mind from gw30. Probably at the expense of Palmer. Haaland also makes AM more difficult money wise.

Similar to the start of the season, it's likely a trade off and straight choice between Haaland or Palmer.

      If Salah is a given.

Doesn't help Camzy but its the way the game should be. They messed up last year and nobody had to choose between the big hitters. We had a nice spell at the start of the season where there was a mix of Salah or Haaland or both and then you had Palmer and Saka to throw in. Then Haaland broke and it was easy and template and then Saka broke (literally) and everyone has Mo/Palmer/Isak. We need all 4 of the big hitters firing again to mix it up a bit, spice up captaincy etc

It was one of the big pros to playing AM early. We have money now. We might not later. Very glad I played AM on Slot given the results of the first game and the confirmation of the double in 25. It's worked out.

See this is why I wanted to BB this week as for a great bench, to get it out of the way, WC in 30 and get the big players in with no bench. However I think the TC is too good an opportunity this week as my rival won’t play it as he played the AM

If you put it like this does the transfer make sense?

Wood - ful new ARS MCY

Does Watkins outscore Wood by 4 over these games (transfer would be for free but I consider every transfer worth 4 points)? If fit I reckon he has a decent shot at it.

I think you need to factor in 29 if you're not using the FH and selling Watkins in 29

            Wood + 8 (2 transfers *4) v Watkins

That's fair. Makes it difficult. The good news though, is that unless there's a big injury crisis, I should be comfortably able to afford these FTs for free so it wouldn't truly be 8 points he'd need to overcome. But for calculation's sake, I need to believe Watkins outscores by 8 before I'd be able to confidently make that switch.

So the consensus here for those with AM Emery is that Villa will defeat Ipswich & get at least a point vs Liverpool but please don’t have a short memory. Ipswich could pull off an upset like they did against Chelsea & Spurs. Villa can be quite unpredictable. I will rather burn a FT than burn my chips.

This is just my opinion. I’m not trying to discourage AM Emery.

There's some mitigation around the Ipswich upsets though, Chelsea heavily rotated for that game with it being midweek and Spurs are Spurs, they also lost to Leicester. So I expect Villa to win but worth noting and this might be more relevant to doubling players rather than AM where the win is the main bit, they've not exactly blown away Southampton or Leicester at Villa Park this season.

Villa Park's a tough away game generally, only Arsenal have won there in the league this season in GW2 and that was a slightly fortunate win if you recall Watkins open goal header at 0-0/Raya's miracle save.

Right! although they had decent results against Fulham, Utd at craven cottage & only a narrow defeat against Arsenal at the emirates so I’m not expecting a heavy defeat at Villa park.

Slot on Trent for Plymouth game:

“No, I don’t think so yet. That’s going to be too early for him,” Slot replied at his pre-match press conference when asked if Alexander-Arnold could be involved this weekend.

“Difficult to say [about the derby]. Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available.

“We also have to look at the long term, of course we don’t want to take any risks with so many games afterwards coming up. But if he’s fit then of course we will use him.”

I think it was a quad injury rather than hammy

Didn't see the updated post. Surprised the person has changed their opinion from quad (palpating front of the thigh and physio tests) to hammy based on a post stating thigh injury.

Like most I was looking to get a BOU mid in this week, however now it looks like I will be using my FT to go Moyes > Emery.
So the question remains is it worth taking a hit to go Amad > Dango/Semenyo/Kluivert? And if so who joins my bench?

    Cheers

Early days yet but my plan is to move Moyes to Emery for free. Two Villa and triple Liverpool.

Anything else would cost a hit. I want a Bournemouth mid but don’t think it’s worth a -4. Watkins an option but money will be tight on WC so might want to keep Isak. What do you reckon?

Fulham have kept 4 clean sheets all season, Forrest have not scored in only 4 games this season. Now granted one of these was a Forrset 0 - Fulham 1 but do you really think that will happen again enough to bench Wood and play Castagne?

I'd probably play Mykolenko over Castagne and Wood over Bruno. I also wouldnt take a hit to bring in BOU mid as that will make your benching headache even worse!

Does anyone else think that the stick Spurs have had from pundits etc for their performance last night is a bit harsh?

They have gone to the ground of a team who in many people's opinion are the best team in europe or even the world with a depleted team so I don't know what people were expecting.

Liverpool are a significantly better team with better players so of course they were likely going to lose comfortably. I mean the tie was 1-1 at HT and they had limited Liverpool to not many chances.

Agreed. Expected more for Spurs though, but was always likely to not reach the final

Spurs setup was a bit too conservative compared to usual Angeball imo. I think they needed Kulu in the 8/10 role instead of RW (Moore)

You can understand the tactic though.. They were defending a 1-0 lead and actually did that well for a lot of the first half. If you try and take Liverpool on with attacking play they will destroy you. They just don't have those creative players available. No Johnson, no Maddison.

I don't agree with Spurs doing well in the first half. If you dig deeper into the numbers beyond the scoreline, it was all one way traffic and should have scored more

I think it’s more the fact that they never created any chances in the 90 minutes.

There was a clear disparity between the two teams last night but you would have expected more of a fight from the lesser team, knowing what was on the line.

It’s not just last night, they’ve been and will continue to be relentless until Ange is dismissed. Probably just casual racism or fact he’s had the audacity to make them look the foolish they are as well as refusing to adhere their ‘expert’ advice. Quite a different tone to the one they turn on for dismal Manchester clubs.

The sooner there is a button for dubbing out all punditry the better. Just play crowd noise or fast forward trough, call it the pish button control, with a pic of Tim Sherwood, Jamie Rednapp and Clinton Morrison.
