DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 34 SCOUT NOTES: LEAGUE ONE

Birmingham remain unbeaten at home

The Blues made it four games unbeaten, and continued their unbeaten run at home – 17 wins in 20 – to bank seven points for 5.4%, defeating Shrewsbury Town 4-1. It’s their first time winning nine league games at home in a row since 1971.

Fantasy EFL: Birmingham City Triple Gameweek 38 announcement

Despite several strong performances, the glaring disappointment was Jay Stansfield (F), who failed to score for the fifth consecutive match, leaving 4% of managers frustrated. Conversely, substitute Alfie May (F) delivered a stunning performance, netting two goals (+10) and earning 12 points in just 17 minutes, rewarding over 20% of managers.

However, Ethan Laird (D) was the true star, scoring a goal (+7) and securing a clean sheet (+5), amassing 38 points in his last three outings. Ben Davies (D) also contributed significantly, scoring the opening goal and adding defensive returns (+1) for a total of 10 points, a welcome return for his 0.3% ownership. Finally, Ryan Allsop (G) disappointed 6.7% of managers, conceding a late goal in the 87th minute.

Chris Davies’ side are nine clear at the top, and face Bristol Rovers (A) on Tuesday.

Wrexham win on the road

The Red Dragons cut the gap at the top of the table to nine points, defeating Exeter City 2-0 away from home.

Once again, the defensive assets stood out: Lewis Brunt (D) and Max Cleworth (D) both banked 13 points for their efforts, while Eoghan O’Connell (D) made it three double-digits in a row, scoring 12.

However, Oliver Rathbone (M) was also fantastic in the middle of the park. The Welshman scored the opener (+6), had three shots on target (+1), and made two interceptions (+4), nailing 13 points for 0.2%. Given the win, they banked 11 points for 4.9%, and have won three matches in a row.

From Devon to Cambridgeshire, Wrexham travel to Cambridge United on Tuesday. The Grecians travel to Barnsley.

Charlton bounce back

Following a shock 3-0 loss against Peterborough United, the Addicks won their 13th home game in 20, defeating Huddersfield Town 4-0.

Tyreece Campbell (F) delivered a stunning performance, scoring two goals (+10) within 73 minutes, earning 13 Fantasy points. This feat was achieved by only 0.1% of players. Matt Godden (F) continued his scoring streak, netting the opening goal in just 30 seconds, marking his third goal in three matches.

Midfielders Luke Berry (M) and Conor Coventry (M) also impressed. Berry contributed two assists (+6), one interception, and five key passes (+5), accumulating 12 points. Coventry secured 11 points through four interceptions and three key passes (+1). Defensively, Lloyd Jones (D) earned 11 points, while Macauley Gillesphey (D) added eight, maintaining his position at the top of the Fantasy EFL table with 289 points.

Nathan Jones’s side travel to Mansfield Town, while the Terriers take on Lincoln City (A).

Wycombe maintain pressure on Wrexham

The Chairboys secured a vital 1-0 victory at home against Lincoln, sitting just three points off Wrexham. As a result, they nailed seven points for 5%.

Sonny Bradley (D) continued his impressive streak, earning 11 points with his second consecutive double-digit haul. He achieved this through 14 clearances (+4). Caleb Taylor (D) also delivered a strong performance, scoring 10 points and making it 10 games without a blank.

Cameron Humphreys (M) netted his seventh goal of the season, extending his total goal contributions to 16 in 35 appearances, with a notable finish. On the other hand, Paudie O’Connor (D) of Lincoln received a red card (-3) in the 93rd minute for violent conduct, resulting in a blank for 1.7% of managers, despite him still gaining two points for defensive actions earlier in the game.

Wycombe host Shrewsbury on Tuesday, while Lincoln welcome Huddersfield Town to LNER Stadium.

Reading roll on

The Royals made it 11 games unbeaten, their longest streak since March 2012, with a 3-1 win over Peterborough (H), and have now found themselves in the play-off spots, with 62 points in 38 matches.

Charlie Savage (M) emerged as the highest scorer with 14 points, a massive return for 0.1% ownership. He scored, intercepted twice, and contributed heavily in attack. Harvey Knibbs (F) added eight points with his 13th goal, now 17 in 35 appearances. For the visitors, Kwame Poku (M), a Scout selection, also delivered a strong 12 points for his 4.8% ownership, thanks to a goal and multiple contributions, bringing his season total to 17 in 21.

Reading face Blackpool (A) on Tuesday, while Posh take on Crawley Town (A).

Stockport win at home

The highest-selected team with 6.7% ownership, Stockport, defeated Burton Albion 2-1 (H), earning seven points.

Although there weren’t any double-digit scores, there were a few notable performances. Kyle Wootton (F) scored the opener to make it 17 in 39, but was taken off at half-time in a tactical choice. Isaac Olaofe (F) scored his second goal in three games, banking eight for 0.2%.

However, Julian Larsson (F) made it a nervy end, scoring a late consolation goal for the Brewers. Ethan Pye (D) made a late tackle in the 93rd minute, earning a red card (-3) and will therefore miss their second match for 1.1%.

Nonetheless, it was their second win in three, and they welcome Stevenage to Edgeley Park on Tuesday. Burton face Leyton Orient (H).

New chapter begins at Rotherham

It’s the end of the road at AESSEAL New York Stadium for Steve Evans – the Scot has been sacked following their dismal 4-0 loss against relegation-threatened Crawley Town (H).

For the visitors, Kamari Doyle (M) scored a brace, earning 15 points that very few managers predicted – he now boasts 13 goal contributions in 34 appearances. Panutche Camará (M) was exceptional in a 45-minute cameo, delivering both a goal and an assist to secure 11 points. Charlie Barker (D) also made a strong defensive return, adding 11 points to make it two consecutive double-digit hauls.

The Red Devils have now won two games in a row and are six points away from safety, with their next match at home against Peterborough. Meanwhile, Rotherham, under interim manager Matt Hamshaw, will be hoping to secure their first win in four matches as they travel to Northampton.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 34 SCOUT NOTES: LEAGUE TWO

Crewe disappoint

Although backed by 2.6%, the Railwaymen remain without a win in five, losing 1-0 against Port Vale (H).

Captain Mickey Demetriou (D) earned six points for his defensive performance, nearly seven, but for a yellow card. Notably, he’s avoided blanks for 18 consecutive games, although it wasn’t what 10.6% hoped for.

For the Valiants, several players achieved double-digit points: Connor Hall (D) and Jesse Debrah (D) both scored 11, while Nathan Smith (D) topped the charts with 15, a personal best in seven matches, combining defensive and offensive contributions. Jayden Stockley (F), a popular pick in Gameweek 33, scored the decisive goal in the 86th minute.

Crewe face Grimsby Town (H), and are now four points from the play-offs. Whereas the Valiants have won three in four and face Bradford (H).

MK Dons stumble again

Although MK Dons stepped up in Gameweek 33, it feels like ordinary business has resumed, losing 4-2 to Fleetwood Town (H).

Danilo Orsi (F) gave the Dons a 1-0 half-time lead with his second goal in five games. However, a dominant second-half performance by the visitors, spurred by a strong team talk, assumedly from Peter Wild, turned things around.

Matty Virtue (M) was instrumental in midfield, netting the equaliser and earning 14 Fantasy points, his first double-digit return since Gameweek 27. James Bolton (D) also scored and contributed defensively for 13 points. Shaun Rooney (D) provided three assists and Owen Devonport (D) added the fourth goal.

However, Scott Hogan (F), coming off the bench, scored a consolation goal for the hosts, his seventh of the season.

Fleetwood take on Lancashire rivals Accrington Stanley, while Dons travel to Meadow Lane to face Notts County.

Donny beat Carlisle

Doncaster Rovers secured their 10th home win in 19, defeating the Cumbrians 3-0. Jordan Gibson (M) was the Fantasy star, returning 14 points for 0.1% – he provided two goal contributions, and has 12 in 34. Owen Bailey (M) also made it back-to-back double-digits, scoring 13.

Tom Anderson (D) and Jack Senior (D) both banked 10, while birthday boy Luke Molyneux (M) provided an assist to nail six for 13.8%. Despite the loss, Carlisle’s Terrell Thomas (D) returned seven, making multiple defensive scores, with 21 points in three games.

Fantasy EFL Scout Squad: Gameweek 5

Donny face Walsall (H), while Carlisle travel to Chesterfield.

Grimsby maintain road unbeaten streak

The Mariners made it five games without defeat, winning four of the five, with an impressive 2-1 victory at Colchester United.

Evan Khouri (M) was the star and provided his first 10+ score since Gameweek 27. He supplied an assist to the opener and scored the winner, and would’ve banked 16 had he not been booked in the 79th minute.

Elsewhere, U’s captain Jack Payne (M) provided the assist to the equaliser, and now has 15 assists in 39 this campaign. They’ve now lost two in a row and are four points off the play-off spots, behind Grimsby.

Grimsby travel to Crewe, while Colchester take on Gillingham (A).

Thriller at Hayes Lane

One of the games at the weekend, Salford City defeated League Two newcomers Bromley 3-2 and have now won two games away from home.

Cole Stockton (F) delivered a strong performance in front of goal, netting his 10th and 11th goals of the campaign. This double haul translated to a massive 13 points, a significant return for his minuscule 0.1% ownership. Haji Mnoga (D) was a surprise standout, contributing two crucial assists alongside solid defensive work, earning him 11 points.

Midfielder Kelly N’Mai (M) also impressed with a goal, securing 10 points. Moreover, a welcome sight was the return of Ossama Ashley (M) from injury. In his first appearance since Gameweek 31, he immediately made an impact with an assist and three interceptions, grabbing 10 points and marking his eighth double-digit haul of the season.

For the hosts, Michael Cheek (F) continued his consistent scoring form, finding the net for his 18th goal. This brought his season tally to 24 goal contributions in 38 appearances, maintaining a four-game streak without a blank.

The Ammies face Barrow (A), while the Ravens travel to Newport County.

Walsall’s dismal form

The Sadlers are without a win in seven, and scraped a 1-1 draw at home against AFC Wimbledon (H). Taylor Allen (M) scored a fantastic free-kick, his eighth goal in 38, and made one interception, to bank 10 points for 3.9%.

Omar Bugiel (F) scored the opener from the bench, his first goal for the Dons since Gameweek 27. Mat Sadler’s side, thanks to Bradford drawing 0-0, remain top with 71 points in 39, but are just a point above the Bantams. They face Doncaster (A), and are in desperate need of a win.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 34 SCOUT NOTES: CHAMPIONSHIP

The Championship title race witnessed a dramatic twist as Sheffield United seized the lead with a decisive 3-1 victory over Coventry City at home. Gustavo Hamer’s (M) spectacular opening goal set the tone for the Blades, propelling them to 83 points.

Meanwhile, Burnley continued their relentless pursuit, extending their unbeaten streak to an impressive 26 games with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bristol City. Zian Flemming’s (M) goal secured the points, as Burnley edged closer to breaking multiple defensive records. They now sit on 81 points, breathing down the necks of the leaders.

The shock of the round came at Elland Road, where Leeds United faltered against Swansea City. Despite Brenden Aaronson’s (M) early strike and Wilfried Gnonto’s (M) crucial goal off the bench to put Leeds 2-1 ahead, Zan Vipotnik’s (F) devastating 96th-minute equaliser shattered Leeds’ hopes. The 2-2 draw leaves the Whites with 81 points, level with Burnley, but crucially behind Sheffield United. Goal difference separates Leeds and Burnley, intensifying the already fierce competition.

With all three title contenders facing a Double Gameweek in 35, the stakes have never been higher. The title race is poised for a dramatic finale.
