With the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline almost upon us, we’re hearing from our panel of guest writers. Here, three-time top 500 finisher FPL General talks through his Gameweek 33 team.

General Gameweek 33

The Bench Boost didn’t exactly go to plan but the Gameweek was a good one with a green arrow from 35k to 27k. The late charge towards the top 10k has commenced! 

Two free transfers were used to replace the injured duo Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.2m) and Justin Kluivert (£6.0m) with William Saliba (£6.5m) and Savinho (£6.2m) to patch up the Bench Boost. The Savinho decision wasn’t the best idea in hindsight and I’ve now got a headache with him going into Double Gameweek 33. Saliba was disappointing too but he was brought in more with the Arsenal double in mind. This will be his week! Daniel Munoz (£5.3m) somehow managing to score negative points in a Double Gameweek will go down in FPL folklore. 

At 27k, the troops are 28 points from the top 10k. With the Free Hit set for deployment in Gameweek 34, it’s certainly possible to get there. I’ll be very happy with another top 50k finish, however; anything more would be a bonus.

      Very similar to mine - nothing wrong with template if you're not chasing. I may consider Murphy and Isak > DB and Pedro which a few have advised me against... but I have a feeling about KDB.

        Thanks, I’m chasing various margins but I’ve always believed that you pick as per your strategy regardless of the template, rather than letting other teams affect your player choices. Play your own game hey.

          There is some very good advice on here, and some poor. I've learnt to just go with your gut / own feelings after weighing up all the options... because at the end of the day you can only learn from your own mistakes.

      Hmm. BB doesn't look great on first look, but then you have Forest/Newc away at teams who have played in Europe. Forest decent chance of CS I guess.

        Exactly! Thinking also if I don't play BB now then I'll do it in DGW 36 in which only two teams play extra games with more or less this squad. While TC can be played in DGW 36 as well. I still have FH also for BGW 34.

            But right now I have 9 DGW players and in GW36 I still have to sell those who lose their cup fixtures and get other DGW players I'll end up more or less with the same no. of DGW players.

      Because there is no order to how things are run on here. Someone will randomly remember to update the watchlist at some point. The thought to do it will randomly pop into their head while they are watching Would I Lie To You or something.

    With 3 Newcastle, Areola and Salah would it make sense to save FT and have 3FTs for 34, manage it without FH and use FH for DGW36?

    Alternative is to offload Newcastle for Aston Villa assets and go BB33 FH34
