With the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline almost upon us, we’re hearing from our panel of guest writers. Here, three-time top 500 finisher FPL General talks through his Gameweek 33 team.

General Gameweek 33

The Bench Boost didn’t exactly go to plan but the Gameweek was a good one with a green arrow from 35k to 27k. The late charge towards the top 10k has commenced! 

Two free transfers were used to replace the injured duo Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.2m) and Justin Kluivert (£6.0m) with William Saliba (£6.5m) and Savinho (£6.2m) to patch up the Bench Boost. The Savinho decision wasn’t the best idea in hindsight and I’ve now got a headache with him going into Double Gameweek 33. Saliba was disappointing too but he was brought in more with the Arsenal double in mind. This will be his week! Daniel Munoz (£5.3m) somehow managing to score negative points in a Double Gameweek will go down in FPL folklore. 

At 27k, the troops are 28 points from the top 10k. With the Free Hit set for deployment in Gameweek 34, it’s certainly possible to get there. I’ll be very happy with another top 50k finish, however; anything more would be a bonus.

    Is KdB more guaranteed of minutes now beyond the next two GWs? I could do without having to transfer him out quickly again if I get him for the double

      More minutes are more likely, it seems, but there’s always upon ALWAYS Pep Roulette so never guaranteed

      Definitely do B but I’d be tempted to go for C given it’s a DGW. Marmoush is very captainable too

          Saka is good protection just to have him but not captain, given they’re good fixtures, but I think C is the way to go.

      I don’t see the value in selling Saliba, even though I get you need to to afford Dias. So B or C for me. Maybe those FTs will be more useful next week (if you’re not FHing) or for if we get another double or two later

      Saka is the shield (to protect your rank), KdB more of a sword. Trossard is like, erm, a sort of doubled edged mace on string.

    I’ve got 10 doublers + 3.

    My 3 subs are Newcastle players for my Bench Boost.

    1. Savinho is my issue. I can’t afford Rashford. Worth changing him to Malen?

    2. Worth also going Trippier to Konsa, just to get the extra game? Newcastle have a great run, tho….

          Some of us have those two, Isak (also a good SGW option) and 5 doublers in the front eight. BB isn't about getting 15 doublers, although that's nice. It's about scoring points from all 15 players.

            It depends on the set up of your team. Many have taken lots of -4's to accommodate. Others have quality on the bench they want to capture. But for some the bench does not look much better than any other week

      Double game week players don't always score more than single game week players. It's all about the fixture and the form of the teams playing. There have been plenty of times in the past where I've bust a gut to have all doublers in my squad - even taking hits to do so - only to have certain single game week players outscore my doublers.

        Of course, SGW often outscore doubles but the quality of bench varies and you have to weigh up if it makes sense or not

      Im actually starting to wonder this myself - I was so set on BB but really it’s just 3 castle players against Villa. Will probably still BB but dno why I got so hyped about it - just wondering whether I shift a castle player or two to DGW players now

      Because many have planned to do it this week having recently used the WC. Also the chip needs playing one week and there may not be a better time. Could easily get injuries or rotation as the season draws to a close for example.

      Definitely too punty. If you haven't already got Saliba, then bring him in for Gabriel. Plus I would definitely bring in KDB too.

    Was planning to bench boost and have 2 free transfers. No transfers are sticking out though. Any ideas? I would get Kiwior and Rashford, but can’t afford the latter :-/
