The deadline for Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 is closing in, and we’re welcoming back our team of writers for the new campaign.
To help fine-tune your squads, we have a Gameweek 2 team reveal, courtesy of our very own Louis [aka FPL Reactions], who finished inside the top 200 last season.

GAMEWEEK 2 TEAM REVEAL: THE STARTING SEVEN

GOALKEEPER
Leicester should completely dismantle Sheffield Wednesday this week, so the clean sheet looks locked. Their defender options aren’t great, so I’m opting for Mads Hermansen (G) in goal.
DEFENDERS
With 11 clearances in the opening round, Crewe centre-back Mickey Demetriou (D) seems to have picked up where he left off last season. He has a great home fixture against Accrington this week, so I expect his form to continue. Sheffield United were so close to promotion last season, and they will kick themselves because of it.
I think we see a similar way of playing and a strong defence again this campaign, so penalty-taker Harrison Burrows (D) makes the cut. Burrows has multiple routes to points and feels like a shoo-in this week.
Completing the back three is 2024/25 hero Macauley Gillesphey (D). Charlton are a promoted side, but with a home match against a lively but sometimes ineffective Watford in their first match, I have a feeling Gillesphey could rack up defensive actions.
MIDFIELDERS
I’m slightly on the fence with my midfield – I’ll go into more detail shortly – but for now, this is how I’m set up.
I have no doubts at all regarding Davis Keillor-Dunn (M), who bagged a late goal in Gameweek 1. He continues to play in an advanced role positionally and has a really nice home fixture against Burton.
Leicester have lots of great attacking options, and an amazing fixture, in fact, I think they could easily put up four or five goals this week. Because of that, I think Bilal El Khannouss (M) could rake in a haul.
FORWARD
There are several forwards on my radar this week, but I have a feeling about Josh March (F). As well as amassing a huge seven goals in pre-season for Crewe, March also registered an assist in his opening match against Salford. I can’t see Accrington containing the talisman this week, so I’m backing him to return.
CLUB PICKS
It seems wasteful to pick Leicester this week when it’s a single Gameweek, but it’s still early, and if last week proved anything, starting safe could be a wise move. I think the Foxes score four goals, win and keep a clean sheet this week, so avoiding them could do more damage than it’s worth.
I also think Barnsley could win and win well. Their performance against Plymouth in Gameweek 1 was really impressive, even more so when they went down to 10 men. So, backing them against Burton when playing at home feels like it could be super successful.
GAMEWEEK 2 TEAM REVEAL: CONSIDERATIONS
Ok, so I’m not fully set on a couple of things. One of them is no Cardiff. The Welsh side play in the early game on Thursday, which could be a good opportunity to use the captaincy trick and chase a big haul. Cardiff were far from convincing in their opening match, which gives me doubts. Their standout is probably Rubin Colwill (M).
There are only two ways I can get him in: change formation and lose a midfielder, or replace El Khannouss. I personally don’t like any of those options. If forced, I’d probably lose Gillesphey, but I think he could be a really wise pick this week.
CAPTAINCY
I will be vice-captaining a player in an early kick-off of Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2. If they perform well and pick up a big haul, I’ll captain my goalkeeper but swap him for another who won’t play. That way, I’ll get my vice-captain’s points doubled for captaincy.
Cardiff play on Thursday, which is a good opportunity to vice-captain Colwill. If I choose to ignore the Cardiff match, then I’ll likely vice-captain Gillesphey, who plays in the early Saturday kick-off.
If my vice fails to pick up a significant return, then I’ll captain Demetriou. I could even wait until Saturday to play the vice trick, because Demetriou plays at 15:00 and Burrows plays at 17:30.
