The deadline for Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 is closing in, and I’m excited to be back for the new season. To help you fine-tune your squads, I’ve put together my Gameweek 2 team revealwhich is of course subject to change.

Although I’m pleased to say I changed very little following my Gameweek 1 team reveal!

Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2: Injury news

GAMEWEEK 2 TEAM REVEAL: THE STARTING SEVEN

GOALKEEPER

I’m not 100% on keepers for Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 with lots of tempting options. Across my selections, this is the one most likely to change.

Jay Lynch (G) was outstanding for Fleetwood Town, the highest-scoring keeper of Gameweek 1. With six saves (+4) in their 2-0 win away at Barnet, he played a crucial role for the Cod Army.

In Gameweek 2, they face Bristol Rovers (H). Despite the Gas’s 18 shots against Harrogate, their failure to score suggests a lack of cutting edge, making a Fleetwood clean sheet or a strong performance a real possibility.

Other keepers on my list are Stoke City’s Viktor Johansson (D), Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper (G) and Bromley’s Grant Smith (G).

DEFENDERS

Despite not delivering in Gameweek 1, Crewe Alexandra’s  Mickey Demetriou (D) has plenty of potential. He’s the kind of player you can “set and forget” in your team, and I’m expecting a clean sheet against Accrington Stanley (H). Although the ‘Owd Reds have had a decent start to their season, the highest-averaging scorer last season isn’t to be overlooked.

Partnering him, I’m surprised that Macauley Gillesphey (D) has only 0.5% ownership, considering he was the game’s top-scorer with 342 points across the regular season, averaging 7.8 points.

He provided 19 double-digit hauls and eight goal contributions, including scoring the winning goal to fire the Addicks to the Championship.

They host Watford in Gameweek 2, who won just four of 23 away games last season. Meanwhile, the Addicks had the third-best home record in League One, conceding just 16 goals and winning 15 of 23 games. I’m expecting the Addicks to start their new season with a win.

MIDFIELDERS

This week, unlike last, I’m almost set on my three.

Barnsley’s Davis Keillor-Dunn (M) didn’t let me down in Gameweek 1, bagging an 11-pointer away at Plymouth Argyle, and was the first name on my Gameweek 2 teamsheet. He faces Burton Albion (H), who, although they looked much improved last week, struggled on the road last campaign.

Picking a strategy for Leicester assets is tough because they have several strong options. However, with what I’m expecting to be a high-scoring match at the King Power Stadium, Bilal El Khannouss (M) is a prime candidate for my midfield.

The 21-year-old was a bright spot in their recent Premier League campaign, contributing to five goals in 32 appearances. He’s a key part of their attacking force, making him my top midfield pick from the Foxes.

Finally, Gustavo Hamer (M) was a crucial player in Sheffield United’s play-off run. He racked up 20 goal contributions and 251 regular-season points. In the play-off final, he assisted the opening goal and is considered the key to Ruben Selles’ attack.

Named the Championship’s Player of the Year, the Blades face Bristol City (H)

While the Robins are under new management with Gerhard Struber, Sheffield United previously dominated them with a 6-0 aggregate win in the semi-finals.

FORWARD

Up front, I’ll be choosing a Leicester asset. The final decision will be line-up dependent.

With Jamie Vardy’s departure, Jordan Ayew (F) looks to be the main talisman under Marti Cifuentes. He has a proven track record of consistent goal contributions, even as a substitute, and has bagged three goals in pre-season. Given that he’s up against a disjointed Owls side, I’m confident he’ll be on the scoresheet.

I might swap him for another Foxes forward, however. My top alternative is Abdul Fatawu (F), who contributed to 19 goals during their title-winning 23/24 season.

CLUB PICKS

As referring to our Fixture Ticker, despite the 12 scheduled Double Gameweeks for Championship sides, I found that I didn’t always use all my allotted club picks, despite only being able to select them five times.

The potential for focusing on Doubles only isn’t as critical a factor in my initial strategy, with 71 other clubs available!

I predict nothing but a win for Leicester City on Sunday. I sympathise with the situation at Sheffield Wednesday, but their lack of a cohesive pre-season suggests they’re ill-prepared.

Unless the game is postponed, which I don’t anticipate, a comfortable opening victory for the Foxes seems inevitable.

I’ve also backed Sheffield United to get off to winning ways under new manager Ruben Selles. They had an impressive pre-season, winning four of five games, and scored two or more goals in every match. Backing them against Bristol City at Bramall Lane. The Robins are winless in their last nine games against the Blades.

FANTASY EFL GAMEWEEK 2: CAPTAINCY

I’m near-certain Davis Keillor-Dunn will be wearing the armband for me, but I am considering captaining a Leicester City asset.

I could always use the vice-captaincy trick, and vice ‘DKD’, while captaining a Foxes asset.
