Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gets underway shortly, with champions Liverpool at home to Bournemouth.

Kick-off at Anfield is at 20:00 BST.

Most FPL interest will be in Liverpool.

Their starting XI is the same one that lined up against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, with one exception – Alexis Mac Allister is deemed fit enough to start in central midfield, so Curtis Jones makes way.

Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike make up the front four.

Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are part of the backline, with no sign of Conor Bradley, who missed the end of pre-season with a muscle injury.

Ryan Gravenberch is suspended as a result of his red card on the final day of 2024/25.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola includes new signings Djordje Petrovic, Bafode Diakite and Adrien Truffert in his starting line-up.

£4.0m FPL defender James Hill is benched.

Justin Kluivert remains out, so David Brooks joins Antoine Semenyo on the flanks behind Evanilson.

LINE-UPS

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, Ekitike

Subs: Mamardashvili, Gomez, Endo, Chiesa, Jones, Elliott, Robertson, Nyoni, Ngumoha

Bournemouth XI: Petrovic, Smith, Diakite, Senesi, Truffert, Adams, Scott, Brooks, Tavernier, Semenyo, Evanilson

My summary of today. Salah appalling as he has been for months but gets jam points. Wirtz beyond appalling but no word yet exists to describe his performance (email to Oxford dictionary pending). This season already annoys me but should be fun as the first year ever without a template. Good luck all x

So close to the Salah blank but to be honest if you had told me he would only get 8 points in his best fixture of the first 3 GWs I would've definitely gone without him so from that point of view I'm happy enough with it.

Everyone bringing in Semenyo for Wirtz should probably wait and see what other players they own get 2 and what other players they don’t own get 15+

As the old saying goes, a knee jerk in the head is worth two in the groin.

Keeping the faith with Wirtz (at least until I see Bruno). If he’d found the corner instead of just missing it, what a different discussion we’d be having around him.
