It’s a good job that Arsenal are amassing players at a furious rate, as they’re losing them just as quickly.

Having already been deprived of Kai Havertz (£7.5m) and Ben White (£5.5m) this week, the Gunners saw Martin Odegaard (£8.0m) and Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) depart Saturday’s win over Leeds United early.

We start with injury updates on those two as we deliver our Scout Notes from the Emirates.

SAKA AND ODEGAARD INJURIES

Odegaard was a first-half casualty after landing on his shoulder, while Saka’s hamstring gave out not long after the interval.

The latter at least spared his owners the ignominy of a one-pointer, lashing in his first goal of 2025/26 shortly before the break.

Mikel Arteta said he was “quite concerned” when interviewed by the BBC after full-time, while he offered a little bit more detail in his post-match press conference.

“Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don’t know, we’ll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better. And Bukayo, while he was carrying the ball, wrestling with the defender, he felt something in his hamstring. Let’s see, I think it’s the other one, it’s not the same one as the previous injury.” – Mikel Arteta

“I don’t know, he felt something while he was sprinting. That’s never a good sign. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow, speak to the doctors and understand better what he’s done. But he’s had his injuries before, he knows exactly the feeling of that, so let’s wait.” – Mikel Arteta when asked if Bukayo Saka’s injury is serious

Depending on the severity of Saka’s injury (you wouldn’t be surprised if he showed at Anfield next week…), Noni Madueke (£7.0m) might get a shot at his favoured right flank in Gameweek 3. The former Chelsea man certainly looked brighter when switching to that side after Saka’s departure, having started the game on the left.

GYOKERES OFF THE MARK – AND ON PENS

Another new boy, Viktor Gyokeres (£9.0m), is off the mark.

His opener was a trademark Gyokeres goal, the forward cutting in off the left, driving towards goal and shooting with his favoured right foot.

The Swede’s second strike was another customary effort: a penalty. He scored 20 out of 20 for Sporting last season, dispatching his first for Arsenal confidently after the impressive 15-year-old substitute Max Dowman (£4.5m) had been fouled.

Saka and Odegaard were, of course, off the field when the spot-kick was awarded but there have been suggestions in recent days that Gyokeres is first in line regardless.

Other than that… he was actually pretty average. His link-up play was poor, he looks cumbersome at times and he screwed an early big chance wide.

But we knew his limitations before he signed. He’s not someone to sling the ball into the box to. He excels when there are quick transitions, not slow build-ups. He is, as the kids say, a ‘bagsman’.

The good news: it sounds like Arsenal are trying to adapt to their striker, not vice-versa.

“It’s clear where Viktor is really dangerous, but he’s a superpower and let’s put him as much as possible in those kinds of scenarios because something good will happen.” – Mikel Arteta

MORE SET-PIECE JOY AS TIMBER ALMOST BREAKS FPL RECORD

The co-leaders for set-piece goals in 2024/25, Arsenal are already back at the summit – this time, with Chelsea.

Two of the Gunners’ five goals on Saturday came from corners, both of which were converted by Jurrien Timber (£5.5m). For the second successive week, Declan Rice (£6.5m) claimed an assist from a dead-ball situation.

Timber also assisted Saka’s goal and, having banked a clean sheet and maximum bonus, finished on a whopping 24 points – three short of the all-time record for a single Gameweek score by a defender:

Both full-backs were eye-catching, with Riccardo Calafiori (£5.6m) bombing forward from left-back. Timber and Calafiori each registered a match-best five goal actions (shots and chances created combined).

ARTETA ON EZE

Eberechi Eze (£7.5m) is now officially an Arsenal player, having been unveiled before kick-off.

His new manager had this to say about him:

“I think he has the capacity to create these magic moments. He can do it from different positions, different situations. He’s got that flair, he’s got that charisma as well about him that is very contagious, and let’s use it in the right way.

“He can play different positions, we know he can play as an attacking midfielder, right or left, he doesn’t care. He plays shifted off the left as well. He’s very comfortable there.

“We’ll gather information again the moment he’s on that pitch and starts to link and feel a connection with people. I’m sure we will find the right place for him.” – Mikel Arteta on Eberechi Eze

Wherever he operates, there probably doesn’t need to be a rush for his services in FPL with the following run ahead:

LEEDS OUTCLASSED

“Too good for us” was Daniel Farke’s assessment after the game. But, as the Leeds boss also said, these fixtures won’t define his side’s season.

The visitors made a bright-ish start, with Daniel James (£5.5m) having a couple of blocked efforts and Pascal Struijk (£4.5m) drawing a fine save from David Raya (£5.5m) with a header from a corner.

Anton Stach (£5.0m), one of the more appealing £5.0m midfielders in FPL, set up all three opportunities. He’s now the leading Fantasy midfielder for chances created (seven) this season.

But, from the 20th minute onwards, the Whites didn’t have a single shot. Their concession of six set-piece chances in both fixtures so far will also be of interest to Dan Burn (£5.0m), Fabian Schar (£5.5m) et al in Gameweek 3.

Joe Rodon (£4.0m) at least emerged with DefCon points as some compensation.

Frustrating how Leeds turned up at the Emirates with no pride and no fight. Mother Farke just rolled over for Arteta to have her belly rubbed.

If you had to bring one for gw3 one week punt and captain who’d you go for:
    A) J Pedro vs Ful
    B) Sesko vs Bur

Really fascinating stuff from FPL Yelena.

She noticed in Neale's preseason Brentford team preview that if you look at only when Sepp van den Berg plays centre back (and not full back) he is a DefCon monster. She had the courage of her convictions to start the season with him. 2 games. 2 lots of DefCons. Plus a clean sheet and a massive haul yesterday.

That's why Neale is the maestro. How on earth do you uncover a nugget of data like that?

    Sanchez
    Konsa Williams VDV

Terrible Thinking. Why would you want double man u in bruno and cunha??
Sell Wirtz before he drops in value. Bring in Richarlson or Ekitike for Guiu

If you remove Palmer, consider Arsenal Mid

Cash better than Konsa plus plenty of better 4.5 def with better fixtures than Aston villa

    Needing some help/info.
I played bb gw1 and fh gw2, was looking at possible transfers for my team and it is showing only 1 ft am I right in saying I should have 2? Not made any transfers to date and I belive using free hit shouldn't use a transfer. Is that correct?

    Dubravka, Sels
    Porro, Keane, Munoz, Konsa, Rodon,

      Porro, Munoz, Konsa
      Palmer Wirtz Bruno Semenyo Reijnders
      Haaland Jpedro

      Dub, Rodon, Keane, Guiu

-8 for a very passable squad.

Next week you could sell palmer if still bad

One question only, why on earth did you choose Michael Keane?

Oh, i did not get the news untill after deadline.

However, i would warn you that EFC are in the market for a new right back, and a signing would be expected to start, pushing O brien into the middle as third choice centerback. This would push keane down to fourth choice and out of the lineup barring another injury.

I would not rush the wc as surely it is worth more than 8 or 12 pts if you do decide to take a hit on palmer?

    3. GCHILD2K16
      • 9 Years

AAAFootball draft is not bad but totally disagree with him on Everton/Keane. KEEP HIM til braithwaite returns.

If sake injury is bad then you definitely need to WC as Sels need to go, Bowen and west ham are diabolicallly bad, Wirtz will drop in value in 24 hours, Konsa/Villa are not playing well at all, penalty missing Bruno and man u ain't at the races yet and Palmer if bad scan results after Tuesday will leave you with onlly reijnders.

      OUT: IN:
      Sels Pope > Sanchez
      Porro Timber/Califiori
      Konsa VDV/Spence
      Wirtz Gakpo
      Saka Eze
      Palmer Kudus
      Bruno Semenyo
      Bowen Richarlson/ Gyokeres
CONSIDER BRING IN HAALAND OR SALAH when if you sell bruno, palmer and/or saka.

Wild start to the season. Don’t really know what to do with so many players performing well (and plenty others underachieving). So much variance, which is a good thing, but makes life difficult for us.

Arsenal punished us non-owners but I’m still not sure about them with those fixtures, or at least not for now. Would absolutely keep any if I had them.

If Palmer is out, I keep coming back to him and Guiu out for a sub-7.5m mid and Wood. Will reassess later this week.

Literal cheating that needs to be fixed in this game:

    1. Content creators using inside information not available to the rest of us. How does Andy FPL constantly get leaks that no one else has access to?
    2. Price changes. The fact that Wirtz isn't dropping is just massively suspicious. When the algorithm is unknown and clearly victim to manual intervention then that is obviously going to be abused.

5 of the top 20 all time managers(Live FPL) captained Palmer. Don't think they would've done that without knowing he was supposed to play at RW.

Fair enough, but did those team own Haaland or transfered in Saka/Gyokeres?

Otherwise Palmer was next in line for (C)

          Only Salah.

In the Analytics Elite 64 league 13 have the same exact team as Ben Crellin. 5 captained Palmer and 8 Salah.
Out of the 64 teams, 41 out of the 63 Salah owners captained him and 22 out of 64 Palmer owners captained him.

Maybe you're right, maybe there was no leak and they just copied Ben.

I still think there had to be a leak. No way they paid 14,5m for Salah to captain him once in the first 3 games. So I assume they planned to captain him this week as well. Palmer didn't do anything to warrant changing that strategy, unless RW role leaked.

Wirtz will drop within the next 48hours. Eitherway, he won't do much at Arsenal next week so can do a one week punt to Cunha or Mbuemo at Burnley.

Thinking of using 2FTs + -4 to sort some of this out, depending on the extent of RAN and Palmer injuries:

    Sanchez
    RAN* Porro Reinildo
    Salah Palmer* Kudus Reijnders
    Watkins Ekitike Bowen

    Dub Esteve KDH Rodon

Any suggestions, thinking Cunha and JP / Wood in.

Cunha for one game week at burnley, yes.

If no palmer long term, consider haaland for bowen and semenyo/Grealish
J.P > Woods for sure if keeping palmer or for watkins

Tricky. Problem is you’d be getting rid of someone who will start if getting Wood in for free.

Frimpong, Hoever, Guiu should be the bench. So Palmer out, if injured. If he’s fine, then Wood in.

hmm i usually would say save the wc but you onnly really have about 5 starters i could really reccomend (sels, Porro, konsa sort of, salah, kudus)

maybe a good wc would put it to rights

    4. GCHILD2K16

Not necessarily. You could fix it gradually over 2 - 3 week with 2 TFs per week.
Week 3) OUT:Frimpong, Wirtz, AWB IN: Cucu/VVD, Cunha or Semenyo, Senesi or VDB
Wirtz will likely drop in value in the next 2 days so might want to replace him over bowen.
      Week 4: OUT: Bowen, Palmer, Konsa IN: J.P > Woods, Saka/EZE, Timber/califiori
week 5: OUT: Porro and Sels IN: Vdv/spence, Raya
week 6: OUT: Hooever IN: Any decent 4.0

Cunha is the wildcard, that can produce magic to win games on his own. But Mbeumo is the efficient output machine. I'd want Boomo in FPL.

yeah that is a very sensible idea

maybe some more thought on whether vdv is the best option (not saying he isn't, just a lot of players to consider)

Ill give you some other suggestions

      Truffert/senesi/diakite
      Agbadou/wolfe
      konsa/cash(before the price goes up)
Keane in the short term is 4.0
Spence in the short term also v attacking
      De cuyper/other bha def
      Richards/guehi (defcon vs headed goals)

In fairness to Villa, Brentford looked a stubborn defence that allowed zero space. And unfortunately for him, up next are another couple of tight low blocks in Palace and Everton. I think Villa's fixtures were wrongly perceived as good for Watkins. Doesn't he like open spaces?

Maybe you shouldn’t play McGinn as your winger against stubborn defence.

Villa looked out of pace, out of ideas and completely out of energy.

Watkins at 9m is a joke in this set up.

Thoughts on the squad below? 2FT’s 0ITB

    Sels-Dubravka
    Cucu-Porro-Diouf-Konsa-Esteve
    Salah-Palmer-Mitoma-Reijnders-Wirtz
    Watkins-Pedro-Guiu

WHU looked awful, so Diouf not favourable as a long term hold. However doesn’t feel like the priority.

Currently pondering the likes of Haaland, Kudus, Mbeumo, and Wood.

Watkins + Palmer to Haaland + anderson could work out
