The Scout Squad sees our in-house team discuss who they think the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are for Gameweek 3 in isolation.

Sam, Marc, Tom F and Neale explain their picks for the upcoming Gameweek in the article below.

MORE ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Scout Squad Gameweek 1

The focus is only on the upcoming Gameweek with the Scout Squad, so there’s no medium-term planning involved.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, we have to source cheaper alternatives.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

Morning, folks! Still no presser list from Sky, who have helpfully had Arsenal's Champions League fixtures fixed on the screen for about three hours now. The BBC merely say that "Premier League news conference times can be a bit of a moving target" but do mention that Slot, Moyes and Howe are this morning, with the other 13 this afternoon.

Sky & BBC seem to have lost their grip on this aspect, dropping it down their priority list & preferring to highlight their latest love-in topics.

Yeah, the coverage around the transfer window is a big pain regarding that

Also that two-hour Sky Sports FC show from 10-12 is the absolute pits

While it’s quiet, can I ask what tools you use to analyse info, data and make your informed choices? Excluding FFS & FHub.

Reason being I realised that there’s quite a few out there now I’ve not heard of and would be good to hear other suggestions…

Not sure if this qualifies as a tool but I use FFM Pro as my app of choice. Just feel like it's sleeker than the official one.

I usually get my data from Youtubers tbh, they usually show data tables 😆 Also fbref: https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/schedule/Premier-League-Scores-and-Fixtures
Recently been looking at Solio now and again, a free model.

Ultimately though I like the analyse the game myself by watching games and doing the maths manually. It's what I enjoy. Data is just a signpost for where to look more closely.

    Slot cryptic on Isak signing:

"I said after Monday evening that I could make a substitute to impact the game and as always, we try to sign players who can help us.

"But there's no reason, after the first two games to complain to to think we need more.

"But if we can strength the squad, we will try to do that if it's for the right money and the right player.

"Let's see if we do something and if we can, what we can do."

      On Ekitike:
"The most important answer to what he can improve is his match fitness. I expect him to do a lot more without the ball than he already does because he's already working hard.

"It's completely normal because he has to adjust to a different league from a different playing style. Frankfurt wasn't pressing as much as we try to do, and then coming to a different league, there's a lot for him to handle.

"To adapt to the intensity levels without the ball, there are small steps to make for him."

Joelinton OUT of Leeds but could return after int. break

Sandro Tonali has a CHANCE for tomorrow

Fabian Schar IS available - "Fabian Schär is available. We followed concussion protocols. He will be fine to play."

Newcastle United have until noon to sign and register Nick Woltemade for him to be available against Leeds United.

But Eddie Howe played the chances of that happening down.

Howe: "I don't think that is going to be possible due to lots of reasons I don't understand."

    1. Tonyawesome69

He will probably get match fitness/sharpness with Sweden over IB. Ekitike is not called up for France so stays at the club.

Tough to say. Hasn't trained in a while and will be on international duty (Ekitike's hasn't been called up). My bet would be that Ekitike starts and Isak comes from the bench.

    * Chelsea via a defender, mid and striker

    Madness?

Xavi can (probably will) take minutes from both Johnson and Sarr.

Sarr has been fantastic so far under Frank. Huge engine so I'm not sure that he's getting dropped - but could of course be.

Kudus is a brand new signing, also looked good. His starts look safe.

I think it's not great for Johnson personally. Johnson can play both wings & Kudus can often be subbed a bit early - feels like he could be an impact substitute a lot in the longer term. It's not like Johnson was nailed for starts anyway.

Short-term though? Need to see where Xavi starts. If it's at CAM, Sarr is pushed deeper. Paulinha won't be dropped. Bentancur losing out most?

LW is still free in that case, so Johnson won't be too hurt. But if Xavi is LW & Sarr stays CAM, bad for Johnson.

I also don't imagine it's good for Johnson in a 343 / 352 formation. One less attacking spot which Xavi is likely better suited for...
