In Gameweek 2, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who backed Arsenal assets, namely Bukayo Saka (£9.9m) and Victor Gyokeres (£9.0m), benefited from the Gunners’ 5-0 victory against Leeds United. Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) left it late but picked up a stoppage-time attacking return for the second week running.

Attention now turns to Gameweek 3, where there is a wide spread of captaincy options. As usual, when Salah faces a tricky fixture (in this case, Arsenal), there are plenty of arguments to look elsewhere.

Captain Sensible is here to help!

First, we will assess the on-site captaincy poll. We will then analyse player and team statisticsRate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11.30am BST deadline.

Captaincy Poll

Fresh from his 15-point haul against West Ham in Gameweek 2, Joao Pedro (£7.5m) leads the Fantasy Football Scout captaincy poll. The highest-owned player in Fantasy currently boasts 27% of the vote.

Behind the Brazilian sit Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) and Erling Haaland (£14.1m), separated by just one 0.5% at the time of writing. This is despite both players failing to return last time out.

Fernandes’ Man United teammate, Matheus Cunha (£8.1m), ranks fifth, just behind Chris Wood (£7.7m), ahead of home matches against Burnley and West Ham United, respectively.

Elsewhere, the ever-reliable Mohamed Salah is the only other player to pick up more than 5% backing.

After this GW United have City A and the Chelsea. So definitely not, sure he could score this GW but wouldn’t want to have him going forward.

Gabriel over Saliba is a no contest imo. Cannot imagine why you would pick Saliba.
I like Ekitike but not before the transfer window closes.
Do you need Reijnders? When will you play him?

I don't need Reijnders no I guess not, if I downgrade him to a playing mid, who you picking?

I've sadly used my WC now. Personally, I'd downgrade Cunha and maybe another to switch Ekiteke to Haaland (c).

      Just my opinion

    B. Palmer to Cunha and roll the other transfer (play KDH)
    C. Palmer, Wirtz and Watkins to Haaland, Semenyo and ISarr for -4

It may be better to save the 0.5-1.0m and go with Romero/VDV over Porro on WC3.

Simons moving to Spurs and took corners and indirect free-kicks at Leipzig.

Yeah, I think you can't go wrong with either. Expecting Romero to be a DC monster and score on set pieces, VdV to get the set piece goals and Porro to get the assists and odd goals

Okay, Premier League news conference times can be a bit of a moving target.

But I can say with some confidence that Liverpool manager Arne Slot will kick things off today and should be speaking any moment now.

We should have updates from Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and Everton's David Moyes from around 09:30.

The bulk of the other managers will be holding their news conferences after midday.

    Are these transfers worth -4?

    Watkins + Gyok + Palmer >>> Wood + Haaland (C) + Kudus

Or keep Gyok and bring in Wood and Kudus for free?

    1. The Pretender
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 8 days ago

I think it depends - if you have Salah, forcing Haaland in isnt so important as you can only captain one. I think I would hold Watkins over Gyok.

      1. ZeBestee
        • 12 Years
        1 year, 8 days ago

I watched the Villa both of the Villa games, and they were absolutely awful. Gyok is slowly improving and with the way Arsenal are playing, I can see him getting goals against any team. Form over fixture.

        1. The Pretender
          • 11 Years
          1 year, 8 days ago

If that's your theory, then just hold Gyok.

I am a believer in class being permanent, form being temporary. Emery will get Villa humming pretty quickly.

Liverpool will get it done, Newcastle can't afford to keep a 120-140M unhappy player.

      2. The Pretender
        • 11 Years
        1 year, 8 days ago

They also don't need too. They will get a British transfer record fee for it and truth be told, Liverpool aren't really their competition. Newcastle could even push for a clause that forces Isak not to play against them this year.

Liverpool are competing with City, Chelsea and Arsenal. Newcastle in the tier below at the minute though with some depth could definitely compete more which this money would allow long term.

        1. ZeBestee
          • 12 Years
          1 year, 8 days ago

No they need the cash, that money will go a long way to bring in their targets and move on. Keeping him will be detrimental to the teams morale, unless Isak makes a U turn.

    Currently:

    Raya (Dubravka)
Porro Dorgu Munoz (Rodon De Cuyper)
    Salah Kudus Palmer Wirtz Reijnders
    Pedro Watkins (Guiu)

    2FT, £0m ITB

What to do with this? I was debating Palmer to Bruno but always suspicious of Man Utd. The other option could be Palmer to Semenyo and Guiu to Wood, but then I have a benching headache (presumably Wirtz over Reijnders?)

This is obvious but worth pointing out for current wildcarders.

I believe you can cover Salah with Gakpo + Ekiteke. But you can't cover the Norwegian Behemoth.

So draft Haaland in over Salah. Simple.

Thoughts on Tarko or Keane? Keane seems to be keeping pace with DCs at 1mil less.

    Branthwaite still AWOL.

If Branthwaite is out for longer, Keane is a better value option to Tark. Everton were lucky to get the CS in the last game though.

Does Palmer potentially not playing lessen Pedro cap appeal?

On a WC, after some tinkering.. Can you cover Salah off with Ekitike & Gakpo?

I think that's the big question. On evidence so far, answer is probably. But v risky as isak to pool is likely with new newcastle striker signing, so both would loses minutes

I'd say so, ATM. The tides may turn soon though. Who knows.
