Leeds United v Newcastle United rounds off Saturday’s Premier League football.

Kick-off at Elland Road is at 17:30 BST.

Leeds’ line-up shows two changes from Gameweek 2.

Lukas Nmecha and, facing his old club, Sean Longstaff come into the starting XI.

Joel Piroe drops to the bench, while Ao Tanaka is injured.

New signing James Justin is named among the substitutes.

There are some real surprises with the Newcastle line-up.

We knew that Anthony Gordon and Joelinton would miss out through suspension and injury.

But the benching of Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes is an eyebrow-raiser.

Jacob Ramsey is handed his full debut, while William Osula makes his first Premier League start for the Magpies.

The recall of Sven Botman hints at a formation change, too.

Jacob Murphy comes in for Elanga, meanwhile.

LINE-UPS

Leeds United XI: Perri, Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Longstaff, Gruev, Stach, James, Nmecha, Gnonto

Subs: Darlow, Justin, Bornauw, Bijol, Harrison, Aaronson, Okafor, Piroe, Calvert-Lewin.

Newcastle United XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Livramento, Guimaraes, Tonali, Ramsey, Murphy, Osula.

Subs: Ramsdale, Hall, Lascelles, Thiaw, Krafth, Barnes, Willock, Miley, Elanga.

    Second highlight of the game:

    Elanga's cross behind the goal.
(Another trap of the season contender)

Wirtz over Gakpo was a disaster. But Wirtz > Elanga has outdone it

Might still keep him for the Wolves game, then it’s Semenyo or Grealish if he’s still getting 2 fecking assists per game

27 from 5 is that average this week?

Haaland(c) Milenkovic Richard Rogers Gakpo Reijnders left

      16 from 5 🙁

Wood (C), RAN, Aina, Sarr, Mateta, Salah to go.

      Rogers on bench for Elanga!

27 is a little below the average so far I think but from only 5 players is solid. I'm on 16 from 5 thanks to Gudmundsson's 9 haha, rubbish so far!

VAR is honestly doing everything right this game week.

Fulham goal correctly disallowed. If it had stood that would have massively altered the result v Chelsea.
Man United given a penalty that the ref overlooked.

I dont understand why people are complaining that VAR is correcting mistakes made by the referee.

    1. Gubby-Allen
      • 4 Years

I think that most weeks. Before today the only error it has made was the Man Utd penalty V Fulham which even that was a blatant foul and only not a penalty as there was a foul on Fulham too.

Everything in GW 1 I thought was ok. I didn't think the Fulham disallowed goal was a howler, but IMO it was wrong as Muniz had nowhere to go and the foul did not happen in slow motion, so they

The Fulham challenge is not reckless so they shouldn't have intervened. The overall verdict of VAR so far is that it has been abysmal...

That’s not true. Without Var a perfectly good goal would have been disallowed for offside in Liverpool v Newcastle

The Fulham goal being disallowed was an incorrect call. 100% wrong. Nowhere else he could put his foot, ref said it was a”careless challenge” when Muniz was the one in possession. Awful decision.

Thought it couldn’t get much worse than last GW, Elanga as part of 3 transfers for a hit is up there with one of my worst ever moves though.

Avoided Wood nearly all last season out of pure stubbornness, need him to deliver as (C) now this week!

Both Bruno and Mbeumo are good long term picks. Only question is if there are better options because they are quite pricey playing for a bottom half table team.

Yeah maybe, he looked good. I don't have him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had some joy getting in behind City's line next GW. He loved playing on the transition at Brentford.

        Much better than Cunha lol

I posted twice on Friday how I thought Mbeumo was better, but in the end I kept Cunha since I already got him on my WC at 8.0. Literally had the transfer set up at 10:30 last night (3:30am UK time) but then turned off my phone. Cowardice came back to bite me.

To challenge Chelsea need a world class keeper - Sanchez just not good enough - keeper at Bournemouth looks good (touch in cheek),
I would love Gianluigi Donnarumma (feel for James Trafford if he goes to Man City) but wages stupid - example West Ham United with a ball going a cross to his left side leads with
his right hand from 30 yards!!!

Should have gone for Maignan (AC Milan) for £25 million

        Diogo Costa - 40M

Moyes on KDH: "He's a really nice footballer. Sees the game well. His vision is very good. I always thought that if we get him in the right positions I think he'll score enough goals. I do. I think he can score goals from midfield and it was a really good goal he scored today"

Yeah it was always a consideration. I wasn't in a rush, but he did feel like a weakness in my team. I always believed in him though, I scouted him a lot, and did a lot of calculations based on his data etc, and felt he'd be excellent value. He has a reputation of having a freakish level of fitness, and would always play 90 mins and never miss a game. That seems to be the case again, he's played every minute so far. He's also very good at set pieces - he's created a few chances from them already.

I thought he'd get more defcons though, that's been a disappointment. But yeah, he feels like a hold now. Quality footballer.

He’s a very handy 8th attacker, came in for Palmer for me this GW, and is very under priced.
