Leeds United v Newcastle United rounds off Saturday’s Premier League football.

Kick-off at Elland Road is at 17:30 BST.

Leeds’ line-up shows two changes from Gameweek 2.

Lukas Nmecha and, facing his old club, Sean Longstaff come into the starting XI.

Joel Piroe drops to the bench, while Ao Tanaka is injured.

New signing James Justin is named among the substitutes.

There are some real surprises with the Newcastle line-up.

We knew that Anthony Gordon and Joelinton would miss out through suspension and injury.

But the benching of Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes is an eyebrow-raiser.

Jacob Ramsey is handed his full debut, while William Osula makes his first Premier League start for the Magpies.

The recall of Sven Botman hints at a formation change, too.

Jacob Murphy comes in for Elanga, meanwhile.

LINE-UPS

Leeds United XI: Perri, Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Longstaff, Gruev, Stach, James, Nmecha, Gnonto

Subs: Darlow, Justin, Bornauw, Bijol, Harrison, Aaronson, Okafor, Piroe, Calvert-Lewin.

Newcastle United XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Livramento, Guimaraes, Tonali, Ramsey, Murphy, Osula.

Subs: Ramsdale, Hall, Lascelles, Thiaw, Krafth, Barnes, Willock, Miley, Elanga.

The Cunha injury was rotten luck. FPL goes like that sometimes. If he played the whole match who knows what could have happened. He could even be back next GW and start outscoring Mbeumo.

This game flips so quickly from week to week. It's why it's important to slow down, don't feel every bump in the road, zoom out and play the long game. There will be a whole new batch of scorers next week that people will want to immediately flock to 😆

Guiu is most likely falling to 4.4m before next GW. Maybe even tonight.

Why people are wasting transfers on their 3rd bench spot I'll never understand. At least he's getting sub points.

I think people are selling him and upgrading with the money they got from selling Saka and Palmer. My front three is Haaland, Wood, Pedro.

I know it’s only half way through week 3, but so far a defender has been the highest scorer for the GW….including this week so far.

    Worth watching.

Oof, I'd wait for the window to close. Isak might change things.

Looks good at first glance though. I think I'd want a third Pool attacker over Allison though. Maybe even Wirtz if he looks good tomorrow 😆

      1. pundit of punts
        • 13 Years

        Yep. Same thinking. See below.

Even if Isak signs, can’t see him starting over Ekitike for a few games.

He’d not be Upto speed and behind fitness wise and Ekitike hasn’t set a foot wrong yet.

        1. Mother Farke
          • 2 Years

If the Isak fee is around £120m, they'll be starting him as soon as they can. The sheer amount of expectation will play it's hand.

Moreover, Ekitike can play where Gakpo plays. He's more likely to miss out.

He'll be getting games for Sweden too, so it should help his sharpness. I think it's unlikely Isak would start immediately but you'd have to monitor Slot's conference in case he gives the green light.

Current top GW score is worth looking at for a laugh
    - 28 point hit
    - Capped Senesi
    - Started Hill who only came on bcos Smith injured
    - Also had Smith anyway lmfao
    - All out already with rest of team composed of Utd/ Chelsea/ Sunderland

    2. Gubby-Allen

You will see that every week. There are folk, usually overseas, who must set up 20-30 different team every week, full of players in the first three games and with a chip used to get the GW lead.

They will always have either joint the game that week or the odd occasion not, will haveade about 700 transfers. Why they do not close the competition after GW3 I have no idea. Who would fancy playing after then?

      1. Wenger_In
        10 months, 21 days ago

Yea the Hill pick just cracks me up though, he vice capped him.
Got 5 points out of him and he's a CB filling in at RB after an injury 20 mins in to a player he also picked.

They might sign Wissa or Stand Larson. They might also want to ease him in, it's a tough league. I think until we see consistent starts and performances from Woltemade it's difficult to go there yet over Premier League proven quality like Pedro.

Gabriel if he is picked is away to Bolivia on Wednesday and then playing Saturday at 12:30 although wouldn't expect him to miss it.

Quick turnaround though. Presume they fly back from there and not Brazil.

WC could change a lot during the next 2 weeks, but right now this feels kinda good moving forward:

    Trafford
    Virgil - Porro - Lacroix - Senesi - Tosin
    Salah (C) - Semenyo
    Haaland - Pedro - Mateta

    (Dubravka, KDH, King, Le Fee)

    1. Gubby-Allen
      • 4 Years
      10 months, 21 days ago

I would start King at home to Leeds.

Playing near enough as a striker and seems a certain starter.

    2. Gubby-Allen
      • 4 Years
      10 months, 21 days ago

As a WC though, very good

Not a Haaland fan myself but with so few proven options at the moment it makes sense.

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 10 Years
        10 months, 21 days ago

        Thanks.

Easier to downgrade Salah/Haaland to bring in some Arsenal GW7 -> forward if needed. Otherwise Haaland or Salah will be the main (C) option in every GW for the next handfull+

Not keen on starting King tbh. Think those defenders besides Porro starts on 4 points in next GW

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 10 Years

Thought about it, but I might simply swap Porro/VVD to an Arsenal defender in GW7 or 8 instead. Also - can't really take that 0.5 out of my team anywhere.

    1. Gubby-Allen

      Absolutely
Will probably get him although that is partly due to the absolute death of good midfield options.

Palmer wasn't great before getting injured, Saka and Salah are getting points but cost a lot. There isn't a great deal else appealing.

United's performance was better than the final score indicated. Their XG was 3.54 and outshot Burnley 26 - 6. Another GK error by Bayindir almost cost them the game. United has an XG of 6.69 on the season, just a tick below Chelsea, who are the best in the league at 6.7. They are getting the chances, but poor finishing continues to haunt them. United needs to sign Lammens before the transfer window closes. Bayindir and Onana are awful; it's like spotting the other team at least a goal per game with how bad their performances are. The biggest concern is Cunha, who limped off.
