The FA Women’s Super League (WSL) continues this Friday, along with the biggest Fantasy game in women’s football – Aerial Fantasy.
Here, last season’s world number 30 and five-time top 100K Fantasy Premier League (FPL) finisher Jono (@FWSL_Jono) provides an analysis of Gameweek 2 and reveals his Gameweek 3 ‘Clean Slate’ team.
It’s time for Gameweek 3 in the WSL with another Friday deadline (18.30 BST) just around the corner. I’ve gone early with my Clean Slate chip, which is essentially the same as a Wildcard in FPL.

GAMEWEEK 2 REVIEW

Gameweek 2 brought a strong return of 63 points, which was well above the 45-point average. The highlight was Alessia Russo (£12.5m) returning 30 points as my captain. She was supported by a huge 14-point haul from Maya Le Tissier (£8.0m). While the defence was patchy elsewhere, and midfield underwhelmed, the captaincy call made all the difference.
It’s also worth noting that my squad value jumped dramatically thanks to the new Aerial Fantasy system for price rises and falls. None of us were aware of the mechanics beforehand, but they happen on Wednesdays and Thursdays in increments of £0.1m, with some players moving up or down £0.3m.

GAMEWEEK 3 PREVIEW

As mentioned above, I’ve gone early with the Clean Slate chip. This allows me to completely overhaul my squad, like a Wildcard in FPL.
My initial team was stacked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool players. However, now that we’ve seen two weeks of line-ups and form, it feels like a time to reset and gamble ahead of some notable fixture swings.
In their place, I’ve loaded up on Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton assets. The first two clubs have very favourable fixture runs, as shown on the ticker below.

I had expected to gain a modest £0.4-£0.6m from playing the Clean Slate chip, but came out of Gameweek 2 with a staggering +£1.2m rise, taking my overall squad value to £101.5m. Key assets such as Ornella Vignola (£4.9m), Maz Pacheco (£4.3m), Melvine Malard (£8.3m) and Yui Hasegawa (£7.2m) have all increased by at least £0.1m.
The spine of my Clean Slate team is a Chelsea treble-up of Hannah Hampton (£6.0m), Ellie Carpenter (£7.6m) and Aggie Beever-Jones (£10.0m). The Blues have a strong home fixture and are an incredibly consistent outfit.
Despite blanking in both matches so far, I’m backing Lauren Hemp (£9.0m) to come good with Man City’s promising fixture run, while Russo is an obvious pick following her flying start to the season. The likes of Pacheco, Katie Reid (£4.5m), Elene Lete (£4.0m) and Josefine Rybrink (£4.0m) are cheap enablers to fund my big-hitters.
In terms of captaincy for this week, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw (£12.0m) is my top pick for Man City’s home fixture against Spurs.
Watchlist:
- Alex Greenwood (£7.0m) – DEF
- Alyssa Thompson (£9.5m) – MID
- Fran Kirby (£8.0m) – MID
- Ebony Salmon (£7.0m) – FWD
I’ve gone big on Man City and Chelsea, which could make or break my WSL Gameweek 3. Playing the Clean Slate this early is an aggressive play, but it felt like the right moment to strike. I’m excited to see how this gamble plays out!
