FPL 2025/26 first draft team reveals: Triple Forest, Everton + Chelsea

WHEN TO WILDCARD: GAMEWEEK 6 v 7 v 8 v 13

This is quite an important week for FPL managers who haven’t played the Wildcard yet.

So, when should you do it? We did a very elaborate discussion of the pros and cons of the Wildcard windows in Gameweeks 6, 7, 8 and 13, which you can watch on The FPL Wire, but here’s a snapshot that you might find useful:

MY OWN PLANS FOR GAMEWEEKS 6 + 7

When it comes to my team personally, I decided not to pull the Wildcard (as of yet!) and provided I can help it, I’m looking to delay it for a couple of weeks. There are some reasons for the same.

Let me showcase my team first.

On Sunday, I brought in Erling Haaland (£14.3m) and Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m) for Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) and Ollie Watkins (£8.8m) to catch some price changes. I took the view that, if things don’t work in my favour during the course of the week, I will Wildcard anyway.

This was my team after that:

    Final spots on WC draft

    Raya, Dubravka
    ???, ???, Senesi, Burn, Richards
    Bruno, Semenyo, Ndiaye, Sarr, Reijnders
    Haaland, Gyokeres, Pedro

    A. Calafiori (double Arsenal, attacking threat) & Andersen (DEFCON beast, but limited clean sheet appeal).
    B. Chalobah (attacking threat, good DEFCON) & Romero (high BPS score, great fixtures)

A if Calafiori is nailed and Fulham have been pretty unlucky in defence so far

I don't rate the clean sheet chances for Fulham too highly, he'll get Def Con but I'd go for B.

      As you say yourself!

      Good luck

Worried that Porro might get rested this gw, do i start him or Ismaila Sarr, who´s just back from injury?

I'd play Sarr at home if I had him, regardless of the fixture.

That could be a game with a few goals flying in.

Struggling to pick two from Senesi, Rodon and Mateta - currently have Mateta on the bench. But I'm a Pool fan so undoubtedly bias kicking in.

    Any thoughts?

Personally wouldn’t bench a striker and definitely not Mateta. I’d go with Senesi and Mateta

Yeah I hear you. The reason I'm pausing is Mateta has only scored two so far this season, defenders have more avenue for points and Leeds have looked solid!

Well, the Liverpool defence haven`t exactly acted like Fort Knox in the beginning of the season.

Mateta has 4th highest xG / 5th highest xGi of any player this season, it's brave to select a £4M defender instead even if there's logic to it.

They're quite close on fixture difficulty, Man City might just edge it in their favour but I'd probably go for the Liverpool man for clean sheets.

Man City do have a way of conceding most weeks, unless the big man in goal will prevent that?

Sounds like, tho won't we have a DGW because of the recent cup results?

You never know when a DGW can come up. Salah got a DGW because of bad weather last time vs Everton. I learned my lesson from captaining Haaland vs SOU last year. I'm gonna hold it. You never know. Weather postponements happen from time to time. In fact, my own team, Blackburn, had a game postponed after 80 mins last weekend.

If a DGW comes up, I want to be able to have TC to take advantage.

      Vicario, Dubravka;
      Gabriel, Senesi, Guehi, Van de Ven, Anderson;
      Ndiaye, Semenyo, Reijnders, Fernandes, Kudus;
      Joao Pedro; Haaland; Gyokeres.

Thoughts on Anthony Gordon? Looks like the main man now with Isak gone. He is on pens as well. Took one against Barcelona. Surely it's his time to shine now.

Targetting him on a GW8 WC. At 7.4 M could be a great punt.

The template WC this week seems to be avoiding spurs defenders.

Romero would be one of the first names in the team for me with Franks tactics, good fixtures and good price.

Defcon is great (I have Senesi and Anderson) but clean sheets still matter and so I expect Romero to outscore Tark for example over the next few.

      What am I missing?

Any adjustments you would do on this WC? 0.6 ITB. Not quite decided between Tarkowski or Gvardiol…

        Raya
        Senesi Gabriel Tarkowski
        Semenyo Reindeer Bruno Ndiaye
        Pedro Haaland Gyokeres

        Dub Stach Andersen Rodon

        Cheers!

For a 2 week plan would you bring in:

        A) Foden
        B) Semenyo

        Have Haaland and Reijnders

        TIA

If for only 2 weeks I’d take a punt on Xavi Simons

hmmmm not bad option. He would play Leeds next week, and they havent conceded at home yet ( and only expected to have conceded 1.26).

        LFC

On Isak as a possible replacement for the suspended Hugo Ekitike...

'He is able to play minutes... 90 is still dependent on the pace and intensity of the game. Also, for the long term, maybe it's not smart to play 90 minutes yet. He's into his pre-season now, and then players go 60-70, some clubs do 90, our club does 60 or 70.'

Pretty template WC but debating the final two slots here:

        XXX / Dubrav
        XXX / Gabriel / Senesi / Richards / Andersen

        A) Raya and Virgil
        B) Donnarumma and Saliba
        C) Raya and Gvardiol
        D) Raya and Tarkowski

Cheers for any thoughts. Currently on A as I'm not convinced about spending 5.5 on an Everton defender!
