GAMEWEEK 4 REVIEW

Gameweek 4 was a bit meh for me. Khadija Shaw’s (£12.0m) 24-point captaincy haul kept things respectable, but outside of her, the returns were slim. Aggie Beever-Jones (£10.2m) chipped in with a goal, but Ornella Vignola (£5.0m) and Aoba Fujino (£8.0m) blanked. The defence didn’t deliver much at all.

Yui Hasegawa (£7.3m) kept things ticking with bonus points, but overall it was one of those weeks where it felt like I stood still rather than pushing on. 50 points means an overall rank of 360th in the world.

GAMEWEEK 5 PREVIEW

Gameweek 5 is shaping up to be unpredictable, with the big four teams going head-to-head, with Manchester City hosting Arsenal and Chelsea travelling to Manchester United. It makes captaincy and transfers trickier, as many of the highly-selected players will be facing each other.

The big decision for me to make is in midfield. Given we have to use our free transfers, I’m looking to transfer out Fujino and Chloe Kelly (£7.7m). Here are the players I’m considering.

Watchlist:

  • Rosa Kafaji (£6.0m) – Looks sharp and creative, already standing out in Brighton’s attack.
  • Jelena Cankovic (£6.0m) – Pulling strings in midfield and on some Brighton set-pieces.
  • Chastity Grant (£7.0m) – Lively, direct and offers Aston Villa a real outlet.
  • Mariona Caldentey (£10.0m) – Quality option, though Man City away makes it a tougher buy.
  • Grace Geyoro (£9.0m) / Saki Kumagai (£4.0m) – With Liverpool struggling, this could be a good chance to invest in the London City Lionesses.

This week’s armband will likely go to either Alessia Russo (£12.5m) or Beever-Jones. Shaw has been my safety net, but Man City versus Arsenal feels too close to call. Russo is always at the heart of Arsenal’s attack, while Beever-Jones has the slightly better fixture and has scored in all four matches so far.

Vignola stays in my XI despite being quiet recently. Everton have strong attacking potential against Leicester. I’m backing her to come good again, but I might look elsewhere for captaincy.

Gameweek 5 feels like the right time to back a slightly differential midfield option and gamble on the captaincy. It might be risky, but these are the weeks where green arrows are big. Good luck everyone and don’t forget the Friday deadline!
